The Pittsburgh Penguins over came another slow start on Sunday Night In Game 3 of Round 1 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 5 to 4 in over time. The Pens now have a commanding three games to none lead in the series. Cam Atkinson scored for Columbus just 11 seconds into the game. Jake Guentzel then tied the game up at the 3:17 mark of the first period. At the 5:02 mark of the first period Cam Atkinson scored again and then just 68 seconds later Zach Werenski scored giving the Blue Jackets a 3 to 1 lead after one period. Bryan Rust scored at the 5:21 and 13:25 mark of the second period tying the game going into the third period. Jake Guentzel then scored his second of the game at the 13:10 mark of the third period giving the pens a 5 to 4 lead. Brandon Dubinsky then scored late at the 15:11 mark tying the game back up. The overtime period was exciting and quick paced through out with both teams getting many opportunities to score. In the end Jake Guentzel snuck the puck under the pads of Sergei Bobrovsky at the 13:10 mark of the first overtime to give the Pens the victory and a commanding three games to none lead on the series over the Blue Jackets. Marc Andre Fleury was again stellar and kept the Pens in the game throughout. The Pens can wrap up the series in game four on Tuesday night from Columbus. Air-time on Beaver County Radio 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA is 7 pm with puck drop at 7:30 pm. Guentzels hat trick and game winner in over time is the first time since the 1940’s that a rookie has done that.

Pirates win second straight game at Wrigley Field
After losing four straight games the Pittsburgh Pirates have now taken two consecutive wins from the World Champion Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Andrew McCutchen hit a three run blast in the seventh to put the Bucs ahead for good and complete a comeback that saw the Bucs down 6 to 2 at one point in the game. Pirates break Four Game Skid
Gerrit Cole pitched a stellar six innings against the World Champion Chicago cubs. David Freese had three hits to lead the Bucs to the 4 to 2 victory. Tony Watson loaded the bases in the ninth with the help of a David Freese error. The Victory stops a four game losing skid for the Bucs. Game two of the series is Saturday afternoon at 2:20 pm air time is 1:55 pm on 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA. The Pirates will send Tyler Glasnow to the mound against Jake Arrietta.
Pirates lose fourth straight game.
After a 3 and 3 home stand the Pirates hit the road for a make-up game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Thursday afternoon. The Game was a make-up from the game that was rained out last Thursday in Boston. The Pirates led most the game before the bottom fell out in the eighth inning and the Pirates lost 4 to 3 dropping their fourth straight decision. The Pirates are now 3 and 7 on the new year. Breaking News!!!! Steelers announce Dates and Times of Pre-season games
The Steelers have announced the dates and times for their four preseason games.They open at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at the New York Giants and return home for two games at Heinz Field. The first at 4 p.m. Aug. 20 against Atlanta and the second at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26 against Indianapolis. The Steelers conclude the preseason at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 on the road against Carolina.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets will begin their first round NHL playoff series Wednesday evening at PPG Paints Arena at 7:30 PM. Game two is scheduled at PPG Paints arena for Friday night also at 7:30.
