Rochester 39 west Greene 14 final

Tonight West Greene traveled to Rochester in hopes of advancing in the playoffs and came up short. At the end of the first rochester was the only ones to put up any points with a touchdown and a two point conversion making it 8 to 0 rochester. In the second rochester was able to put up two more touchdowns both followed by two point conversions. West Greene did manage to put up 8 points just before the half making the score 26 to 8 rochester. After the half rochester scored again bringing theyre score to 32 but were shortly answered by west greene who put up 6 more giving them 14. The fourth quarter rochester put up another 7 points and ending the game with a final of Rochester 39 West Greene 14.

   

Bucs Pick up Club option on Andrew Mc Cutchen

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced to that they have picked up the club option on the final year of Andrew Mc Cutchen’s contract. Cutch will make around 14.5 million next year. This doesn’t mean the Pirates are not going to trade him over the winter it just insures the Pirates will get something in return if they do trade him. The Pirates also declined to pick up the club option for Chris Stewart and Wade LeBlanc making them both free agents. Hornqvist, Sullivan Praise Penguins’ Performance Against Oilers

The Penguins recovered from a bad weekend with a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Wednesday night. Evgeni Malkin picked up the game winner with eight minutes left in the 3rd, and the Pens also got tallies from Patric Hornqvist and Conor Sheary. Matt Murray stopped 35 of 37 shots.

After the game, Hornqvist claimed that this was a good, full team effort that produced a win:

Penguins Preview: November 1, 2017

The Penguins head into Rogers Place tonight in Edmonton to take on the Oilers at 8:30.

Pittsburgh is looking to sweep the season series against Edmonton, having won the prior matchup on October 24 by a score of 2-1 in OT. They’re also looking for their first victory on their five-game road trip, having lost 2-1 to Minnesota and 7-1 to Winnipeg over the weekend.

Evgeni Malkin leads the Pens in points with 13 (tied with Phil Kessel) heading into tonight. Despite his personal successes, however, Malkin said after practice on Tuesday that the Penguins’ inconsistency is simply a matter of “not playing right”:

First Round Of 2017 WPIAL Playoffs Are Set

The postseason has arrived in high school football, and the WPIAL announced the matchups for Round 1 Monday night during its pairings meeting. Nine local teams (designated in bold below) have qualified.

Beaver County Radio will broadcast two games on Friday Night for Round 1. 1230 WBVP will feature the 4/13 matchup in 2A, as Riverside will host Frazier. On 1460 WMBA, the #6 seed in 1A, Rochester, will do battle with #11 West Greene. Pregame for both games will be at 7:00pm.

All games below begin at 7:30pm unless otherwise noted. Top seed will play at home field.
