Mike Tomlin’s talks Bengals, Bryant, and Lions in weekly press conference

Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Beaver County Radio and the Steelers Radio Network at twelve noon today. Coach Tomlin talked about the dominant win the Steelers had over the Bengals last Sunday. Click on the play button below to hear his comments……

Coach Tomlin then wanted to address the Martavis Bryant situation. Coach Tomlin said that while Bryant has come along way at being the way the Steelers want him to be his recent post on social media shows that he still has a long way to go. The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Detroit to take on the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday Night. The Pre-game gets under way on the Steelers Radio Network and Beaver County Radio at 6:30 pm with kick-off scheduled for just after 8:30 pm.

 

 

Crosby Sees Similarities In McDavid, Oilers

The Pittsburgh Penguins play the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night at the PPG Paints Arena at 7:00pm. It is the 3rd matchup between two-time playoff MVP Sidney Crosby and last year’s regular-season MVP Connor McDavid. The Penguins are 2-0 when both men have been on the ice, winning 4-3 at home on November 8 of last year, and 3-2 in a shooutout on March 10 of this year in Edmonton.

After practice yesterday, Crosby said that the Penguins and Oilers are looking for the same thing in tonight’s game, and that they play a similar style…

Steelers 29, Bengals 14

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 224 yards and the defense forced two Andy Dalton interceptions; as the Steelers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 29-14 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Beaver County Radio’s Bob Barrickman has more in this report:

The Steelers are now 5-2 and lead the AFC North over Baltimore by two games. Cincinnati falls to 2-4 and remains in third place.

Van Zanic Talks About Geneva College Athletics On Sports Slam

Geneva College has been participating in NCAA’s Division III since 2007, and has been a source of tradition with no fewer than 3 coaches having held their positions within the college for 20+ years.

Van Zanic has been with Geneva since 1998, and athletic director since 2014. He joined Greg Benedetti and Matt Drzik on the Saturday Sports Slam to discuss the current successes of the Geneva fall athletic programs, as well as the future of Geneva’s facilities.

Pens win third straight in dramatic fashion 4-3 over Florida

Conor Sheary scored with 2:53 left in the third period — the Pittsburgh Penguins’ third power-play goal — in a 4-3 victory against the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center on Friday.

Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby also scored power-play goals, and Carter Rowney scored for Pittsburgh (5-2-1). Phil Kessel had two assists, and Matt Murray made 28 saves. Pittsburgh trailed 2-0 in the second period but scored three goals to take a 3-2 lead. The Panthers then tied it up at three in the third before Sheary’s heroics gave the Pens the victory.  The Pens are now 5-2-1 with 11 points one point behind the Devils for first place in the Metropolitan Divison. The Panthers are now 2-4-0 with 4 points in the Atlantic Division.

The Pens play another of their 19  back to back games this season  at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

Penguins were 3-for-4 on the power play, the second time this season they scored three power-play goals.

Rochester 47 vs. Union 14 Final

   

It was another great night for high school football. Rochester scored first, but it was a highly competitive game in the first half. Until the last play of the game Rochester scored to go up by two scores. Union never recovered nor did they score in the second half. There were a lot of outstanding players for both teams but the players of the game were Michael Flowers for Union and Caleb Collin for Rochester. The final was 47-14 Rochester.
