Lincoln Park Beats Richland To Advance To PIAA Semifinals

The Lincoln Park Leopards make it to the final four of the 3A PIAA Boys’ playoffs, defeating the District 6 Champion Richland Rams by a score of 66-57. The Leopards had leads of 13 and 14 as late as the 4:00 mark of the 4th, before the Rams cut into the final score late. Lincoln Park advances to the West Finals for the second time in three years, and they’ll play District 10 Champion Sharon on Tuesday night.

Penguins 5 Sabres 0 Final

Entering the third period leading 3-0  the Penguins added two more to win 5-0. The fourth goal was scored by Nick Bjugstad .It was his 11th of the season  unassited at 10:07.The fifth and final goal came off the stick Jake Guentzel. He deflected a shot by Zach Troutman.  It was Guentzel’s 36th goal and the Penguins   third power play goal of the game. the second assist  to Nick Bjugstad.  The Penguins were three for four with the man advantage. They out shot the Sabers 28-26. Goaltender  Casey DeSmith earned his third shut out. DeSmith earned the games First Star.  The Second Star was Phil Kessel and the Third Star was Captain Sidney Crosby. The Penguins host the St Louis Blues Saturday afternoon at 1pm  at PPG Arena.

Penguins 3 Sabres 0

The Penguins scored three goals in the second period. Two of them were on the power play.  PPG #1 came at 6:40.Phil Kessel scored his 24th goal. Assists went to Crosby and Guenzel. The Penguins made it 2-0 at  15:07.  Brian Dumoulin got his third of the season with assists from Malkin and Blueger.  PPG #2 was scored by Patrik Hornquist at 18:08. It was his 17th of the season. He was assisted by Phil Kessel and Sidney Crosby
