Jack Johnson and Bryan Rust scored third-period goals as the Pittsburgh Penguins rallied to defeat the Boston Bruins 4-3. Pittsburgh trailed 3-0 in the first period but scored four unanswered goals for the win. Johnson scored a short-handed goal and Rust his 21st of the season. Dominik Simon and Teddy Blueger also scored goals for the Penguins, who have won six of their last seven games and 10 of their last 13. David Pastrnak scored his 37th goal for Boston. It was just the second time since 2010-11 that the Bruins lost in regulation after leading by three or more goals.

Xavier Johnson scored 20 points, Ryan Murphy added 13 and Pittsburgh completed a season sweep of North Carolina with a 66-52 victory over the reeling Tar Heels. Pitt needed less than 10 minutes to build a double-digit lead and never let the sloppy Tar Heels get back in it. Garrison Brooks led North Carolina with 16 points and 13 rebounds but the Tar Heels couldn’t overcome a disjointed opening 20 minutes in which they struggled to develop any sort of offensive rhythm.

Merrimack wins 4th straight, beats Robert Morris 53-49
Jaleel Lord had 14 points and eight rebounds and Merrimack beat Robert Morris 53-49 for its fourth-straight win on Saturday. Juvaris Hayes added 12 points for the Warriors. AJ Bramah scored 16 points to lead Robert Morris, which was held to a season-low 26 points in the second half and had its four-game win streak snapped.

Crosby scores in OT, Penguins beat Red Wings 2-1

DETROIT (AP)- Sidney Crosby scored a power-play goal 1:33 into overtime to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Detroit Red Wings 2-1. It was Crosby’s third goal in three games since returning from a 28-game absence because of a core muscle injury. Bryan Rust also scored for the Penguins in the third period after Filip Zadina put Detroit ahead in the second. All three goals came with the man advantage. Crosby scored by redirecting the puck past goalie Jimmy Howard from in front of the net off a pass from Evgeni Malkin.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Donnie Shell says he never lost faith that he would one day reach the Hall of Fame. Shell’s patience paid off this week when the five-time Pro Bowler was named to a special Hall of Fame class as part of the league’s 100th anniversary. Shell played 14 seasons for the Steelers, helping the team to four Super Bowl titles during the 1970s. Shell’s Hall of Fame candidacy received a boost from former teammates who advocated for his induction.

Berry back to interview with Browns about GM opening

The Browns are getting closer to finding a general manager. The team met Friday with Andrew Berry, who spent three seasons with Cleveland before leaving to be the Eagles’ vice president of football operations. Berry was with the Browns from 2016-18 . They won just seven games during that span and had an 0-16 season. But Berry was well-liked and could make an easy transition back. The Browns are also scheduled to interview New England college scouting director Monti Ossenfort and Vikings assistant general manager George Paton. He worked with new Browns coach Kevin Stefanski in Minnesota.
