Beaver defeats Blackhawk 61-44!!!

Tonight’s game in girls basketball was between Beaver and Blackhawk.  Beaver came out strong from the gate, making it hard for Blackhawk to get points on the board.  At the end of the first period it was 21 Beaver 9 Blackhawk.  The lady Bobcats continued to increase their lead during the rest of the first half,  ending the half with a score of 34 Beaver 19 Blackhawk.  In the second half, Beaver managed to reach a lead double the points of Blackhawk.  Blackhawk tried to fight back but they were unable to conquer the Bobcats.  The game ended in favor of Beaver with a score of  61-44.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford has resigned. The 71-year-old member of the Hockey Hall of Fame cited “personal reasons” behind the decision. Patrick Allvin will serve as the interim general manager while the club searches for a permanent replacement. Rutherford arrived in Pittsburgh in the summer of 2014 and oversaw a roster rebuild that helped the Penguins win consecutive Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017.

Blackhawk beats Hopewell 58-49

In the very beginning of the first period Hopewell took a 5-0 lead but Blackhawk began to comeback which at the end of the first period the score was Hopewell 12 Blackhawk 10.  Second period The Vikings had a ton of turnovers which lead to the Cougars to take advantage and gain the lead and at the end of the first half the score was Blackhawk 36 Hopewell 29.Hopewell began to show life in the second half by amounting a 7-0 run to open the third period, but ultimately it was not enough Hopewell fell to Blackhawk 58-49 submitting their first win this season.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Jake Guentzel scored the 100th goal of his NHL career with less than two minutes remaining, rallying the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers. Guentzel’s goal at 18:29 was his second of the season. Bryan Rust also scored and Tristan Jarry made 20 saves for the Penguins. Colin Blackwell and Ryan Strome scored for the Rangers.

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees have made a second offseason addition to their starting rotation, acquiring Jameson Taillon from the Pittsburgh Pirates for four prospects. Pittsburgh received right-handers Roansy Contreras and Miguel Yajure, infielder Maikol Escotto and outfielder Canaan Smith. A 29-year-old right-hander, Taillon joins a rotation headed by his former Pirates teammate Gerrit Cole. It also is projected to include Deivi García, Jordan Montgomery and Corey Kluber, who has a pending $11 million, one-year contract subject to a successful physical. In addition, Luis Severino is expected to return from Tommy John surgery last Feb. 27.

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Trevon Faulkner had 18 points to lead five Northern Kentucky players in double figures as the Norse narrowly beat Robert Morris 79-74 in overtime. Marques Warrick added 17 points for the Norse. Bryson Langdon chipped in 13, Adrian Nelson scored 13 and Adham Eleeda had 12. AJ Bramah led the Colonials with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Central Valley defeats Ambridge 51-43!!!

Ambridge put up a good fight but Central Valley came out of it with the win in tonight’s game. In the first period the Warriors were up big against the Bridgers 16-7. In the second period the Bridgers started to fight back bringing the score at the half to 22 Warriors 17 Bridgers.  From the third into the fourth Ambridge kept it close with Central Valley,  early in the fourth period they tied it up at 36. Ultimately Central Valley would prevail and defeat  Ambridge with a final score of 51-43.
