By WILL GRAVES AP Sports Writer
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Kris Letang stuffed a wraparound by Carter Hart 1:57 into overtime and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Philadelphia 3-2. Playing for the first time since Oct. 19 after testing positive for COVID-19, Letang scored his first goal of the season and helped the Penguins end a three-game losing streak. Pittsburgh played without star center Sidney Crosby and head coach Mike Sullivan. Both have tested positive for COVID-19. Travis Konecny and Scott Laughton scored for the Flyers.

Hammerin’ Braves Rout Astros to Win 1st WS Crown Cince 1995

HOUSTON (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have won their first World Series championship since 1995, hammering the Houston Astros 7-0 in Game 6. Jorge Soler hit his third home run of the Series, and Freddie Freeman and Dansby Swanson also connected. Max Fried threw six dominant innings in the signature pitching performance of the Series. Steadied by 66-year-old manager Brian Snitker, an organization man for four decades, the underdog Braves won the franchise’s fourth title. Consider it a tribute to the greatest Braves player of them all, Mr. Hank Aaron. The Hall of Fame slugger died Jan. 22 at 86, still rooting for his old team, and his legacy was stamped all over this Series.

Big Ben, Steelers Survive Kicking Scare, Bury Browns 15-10

By TOM WITHERS AP Sports Writer
CLEVELAND (AP) — Ben Roethlisberger handed Cleveland yet another loss as the Pittsburgh Steelers survived losing kicker Chris Boswell for the entire second half in a 15-10 win over the Browns. Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass and rookie Najee Harris had an 8-yard TD run after halftime for the Steelers, who were handicapped by Boswell suffering a concussion on a blown trick play. The Browns had plenty of chances, but wide receiver Jarvis Landry had a costly fumble and then dropped two Baker Mayfield passes in the final 6:04. Roethlisberger is 24-3-1 in career starts against Cleveland.

New Brighton wins and gets in!!

The New Brighton Lions defeated the Freedom Bulldogs tonight 20-8 and secure their place in the WPIAL Playoffs. The Lions opened the game with an early touchdown in the first quarter taking a 6-0 in the first quarter. They held that lead for over a quarter until the Bulldogs intercepted the  ball and took it deep in Lions territory. The turnover would result in a Bulldog touchdown moments later making the score 6-6 going into the half. The Lions defense shut down the Bulldogs offense in the second half forcing a few turnovers and holding the Bulldogs scoreless. The only points Freedom got was from a safety, that was the result of a penalty deep the Lions territory. But, the Lions poured it on in the second half getting a pick that would result in a touchdown for the Lions. And in the fourth quarter a good rush on a punt results in a bad or blocked punt that the Lions capitalized on, extending their lead to 20-8. The New Brighton Lions will advance to the playoffs their opponent has not been announced yet. As for the Freedom Bulldogs their hard fought season is over as they fell short of making the playoffs.
