East Allegheny 68, Riverside 62 (Final/OT)

The Riverside Panthers could not overcome the resilience of East Allegheny as the Wildcats win it 68-62 in overtime on 1230 WBVP in the preliminary round of the WPIAL AA Boys’ Bracket. Eddie Gibbs led EA with 19 points, while Austin Dambaugh led the Panthers with 16. Dambaugh and East Allegheny’s Tech Brown (12) were named the CCBC Players of the Game.

East Allegheny moves on to take on Aliquippa Wednesday night at 8:00 on WMBA. Riverside ends its season at 10-13.

Quigley Catholic 82, Imani Christian 54 (Final)

Senior Gabbie Smith rang up 47 points on the board for the Lady Spartans of Quigley Catholic, setting a single-game playoff record for scoring in WPIAL A Girls, and leading the way to a win over the Imani Christian Lady Saints 82-54 on 1460 WMBA.

Freshman Cali Konek led the Lady Saints with 35, sharing CCBC Players of The Game honors with Smith.

Imani Christian finishes their season at 14-9. Quigley Catholic improves to 18-5 and will face Winchester-Thurston in the second round of WPIAL A Girls; site and time to be determined.

Charleroi 43, Freedom 36 (Final)

Foul trouble and a cold streak doomed the Freedom Lady Bulldogs in their preliminary round matchup against the Charleroi Lady Cougars, as Charleroi takes a 43-36 victory on Beaver County Radio tonight. Freedom went 7:30 without a field goal in the latter minutes of the game, only scoring 4 points in the final quarter.

Maria Claybaugh scored 9 of her 10 points in the final half of play for Charleroi, while Deanna Drobka led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 13. These two earn tonight’s honors of our CCBC Players of The Game.

Charleroi advances to the first round of the WPIAL AA Girls Playoffs vs. #5 Neshannock. Freedom ends their season at 8-15.

The Blackhawk Cougars were eliminated from WPIAL playoff contention with a 73-62 loss to the Ambridge Bridgers on WMBA. Darius Lawrence led the way for the Bridgers with 33 points, sharing CCBC Players of The Game honors with Blackhawk’s Chance Siaus (20 pts).

The Cougars’ loss (along with Beaver’s loss on WBVP) allows Central Valley to gain the final playoff spot in Section 2-AAA, having earned a 3-1 record against Beaver and Blackhawk throughout the season.

Fueled by Josh Creach’s 33-pont performance, Beaver Falls wrapped up section play in 2-AAA with a 78-50 victory over Beaver tonight on WBVP. Darius Wise scored 32 for the Bobcats, he and Creach were named tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game. Despite trailing after the first quarter (20-18) Aliquippa remains undefeated (20-0) and wins Section 5-AA with a 64-44 victory over Quaker Valley on WMBA. Sheldon Jeter led the Quips with 23 points, while Amos Luptak scored 27 to lead the Quakers. Both men were selected as tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game.
