Johnson scores 20, Pitt drills reeling North Carolina 66-52
By WILL GRAVES AP Sports Writer
Xavier Johnson scored 20 points, Ryan Murphy added 13 and Pittsburgh completed a season sweep of North Carolina with a 66-52 victory over the reeling Tar Heels. Pitt needed less than 10 minutes to build a double-digit lead and never let the sloppy Tar Heels get back in it. Garrison Brooks led North Carolina with 16 points and 13 rebounds but the Tar Heels couldn’t overcome a disjointed opening 20 minutes in which they struggled to develop any sort of offensive rhythm.

Hinch, Luhnow fired for Astros’ sign stealing
By RONALD BLUM and KRISTIE RIEKEN AP Sports Writer
The Houston Astros fired manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow Monday, after the pair were suspended by Major League Baseball for sign-stealing during the Astros’ run to the 2017 World Series title. Commissioner Rob Manfred strongly hinted that current Boston manager Alex Cora _ the Astros bench coach in 2017 _ will face equal or more severe punishment. Manfred said Cora developed the sign-stealing system used by the Astros. The Red Sox are under investigation for sign stealing in Cora’s first season as manager in 2018, when Boston won the title.
Packers hold off Seahawks 28-23 to reach NFC title game
By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Pro Football Writer
The Green Bay Packers have reached the NFC championship game by beating the Seattle Seahawks 28-23. Aaron Rodgers connected with Davante Adams eight times for 160 yards and two touchdowns for the Packers on Sunday night. They will play at top-seeded San Francisco for the conference title next weekend. Green Bay’s spruced-up defense fended off a spirited Seattle rally to seal the victory. Russell Wilson directed three straight touchdown drives out of the gate in the second half to bring the Seahawks back. But Preston Smith’s sack forced a punt just before the two-minute warning.
