ROUND ONE SINGLE A PLAYOFFS THE ROCHESTER RAMS ADVANCE TO ROUND 2!!!

The Rochester Rams  defeat a very sound Summit Academy Knights team in the first round of the single A playoff game at their home gym in front of a happy Rochester crowd. The first quarter wasn’t looking terrific as the Rams had some reason for concern with their player of the game Duke Mullins was sat down with 2 fouls and they were trailing 14 11 after one. Things remained  the same in the second quarter down to the last two minutes when the Rams had a 9 point swing that started with a missed layup from Summit and a quick toss to the other end for a bucket then a steal and a three point shot from the rams and they got four more points after that to make the second quarter the onslaught that the Rams needed. At the half the Rams who were trailing most of all the second quarter went into their locker room with a 6 point lead. Rochester remained in charge of the game through the third quarter and were ahead 46 to 37. The fourth quarter the Rams had the Knights charging all around playing with a lot of intensity, but the Rams kept the game under control to close the game out with a 57-52 effort that takes them to the next round . The game was broadcast here on 95.7 99.3 and 1230 WBVP/ 1460 WMBA and world wide on Beaver County Radio by Bruce Frey on the call and Joe Sager on color.

FIRST ROUND TIGERS VERSE TIGERS AT MOON HIGH SCHOOL MCKEESPORT WINS 56-50

The Mckeesport Tigers went into Moon with a player that was looking to get his 1000 career point put on the scoreboard and that they were able to do it by playing very tough defense causing Moon to turn it over way to many times as the young Moon team who only started one senior got out in front of themselves against a more experienced starting senior squad for Mckeesport. It was a very good exciting game with moon getting out to a ten to five lead early, after a great live national anthem. The Mckeesport Tigers didn’t waste no time going to the hoop and pressing the ball up the court at a rapid pace which drew the Moon Tigers in to it which they were able to keep up but were turning the ball over a little to much ,which part of that was from a very good quick Mckeesport Tigers team. And  the half the score was Mckeesport 22 Moon 16 still anybody’s game. The third quarter the Mckeesport team started to pull away making the Moon team in front of their great crowd that assembled to cheer on their Tigers to make to turn the ball over to much. And to make it a little harder to keep up  Mckeesport Tigers got a  lift when their star player  Travarese Rowe got his 1000th career point in front of a big traveling crowd who made the trip to support their team. Not all was lost for  the Moon team who have almost their entire team coming back next year with some playoff experience and the future looks bright final score Mckeesport 56 Moon 50, the game was broadcast on here on Beaver County Radio by Mike Azadian and Frank Salopek  along with 95.7FM and 99.3FM and 1230 WBVP /1460 WMBA, tomorrow nights playoff game will be Rochester and Summit Academy at 6:30 pm.

THE BEAVER BOBCATS HAD DISTANT VISITORS FROM MARS AND WIN A CLOSE ONE!!

Monday night madness in Beaver another close game right down to the buzzer this time it went the Bobcats way, as they held on to a get the win in their home gym scoring 61 to the Fighting Planets 58. Beaver started out a little out of sink pretty much letting Mars get most all the rebounds in the first half, and trailing the first half being behind 16 to 12 at the end of one and 30 23 at the half. Mars did have a height advantage and they were boxing the Bobcats out but that all changed in the third quarter. The Bobcats looked like a new team in the third and they got out a head of the Planets to make this game a back and fourth point for point affair. What ever the remedy it worked and the Bobcats hung on   down to the buzzer with a well deserved 61-58 victory. The game was broadcast here on 95.7 FM 99.3 FM 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA with Mike Azadian And Joe Sager with the call and player interviews and their insight into the up coming playoff games that will be broadcasted here starting Thursday night live from the Moon High School gym, and continuing with as many Boys and Girls High School playoff games.

Beaver loses another heart breaker to a last second shot North Catholic 60 Beaver 59!

The Beaver Bobcats Traveled up to North Catholic Cranberry twp. to face a really tough but a smaller team, and that kept the Bobcats  hanging  around even after getting peppered by three point shots, Because they were winning the rebounds dominating the glass and at the end second quarter the score  Trojans ahead 35 to Bobcats 31 In the third quarter the Bobcats kept getting close the Trojans would come right back with a three pointer. Sawyer Butler was showing some three point skill in the third quarter hitting  three treys keeping the score within 6 points, and with with  1:40 to go in the third Adan Townsend hit a big basket to keep the game in reach.  In the fourth quarter the Beaver Bobcats turned the game around playing tough defense and creating 5 North Catholic turnovers and they had the Trojans calling for time outs, and that worked out well for the Bobcats to take a  break in the final minutes, but what was hurting the Bobcats in the first quarter was what the  last basket of the game was yes another three pointer with 12.1 seconds on the clock. Beaver had one more chance and put up a 10 foot shot that just didn’t fall, great game and great call here on 99.3 FM 95.7FM and 1230 WBVP/1460 WMBA by Mike Azadian and Joe Sager.

The Ellwood City Wolverines Claw Out A Big Victory Over Beaver Falls 57-51

The big 6 foot five center for the the Wolverines who sat the last game out against the Tigers was back in the line up and scored the first of his 35 points to to give Ellwood   City 2 -0 lead that turned out to be the lead they needed because the never trailed the entire game against a team that beat them not all that long ago.  This was a tale of to Teams with Ellwood City’s star player out the last time the two teams met, this game it was Beaver Falls with their best player out Isaiah Aeschbacher with a hand injury and Joe Roth in the game for Ellwood City. Ellwood City and Beaver Falls both seemed to have great game plans with the Tigers playing many off the bench even at the start of the game and Ellwood  kept it from turning into a track meet controlling  the speed of the game. At the end of the first quarter it was 10-3 with the Wolverines in the lead. A low scoring game to start and at the end second quarter the score was 25 14 with Ellwood on top seemed to have the game in their hands. At the end of three the score was 44-29 with the home team in control but showing some signs of that they were slowing down and Mike Azadian and Frank Salopek started talking about was Ellwood getting tired and could the Tigers get back in this game. The forth Quarter was the deciding point in this contest with the Tigers getting back in it The Wolverines making some costly turnovers and it was anybody’s game with three minutes left. With 2:25 left the Tigers had got the score to 50-44 and having the momentum on their side But the Wolverines wouldn’t  let this one get away and got the Victory In front of the best crowd that mike Azadian has seen this year for the home team final score 57-51 the game was broadcast here on 99.3 FM 95.7 FM and 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA by Mike Azadian and Frank Salopek.
