Penns Valley had a 13-0 lead against Beaver during the first quarter. Beaver was able to get themselves on the scoreboard by the end of the first, trailing behind Penns Valley 16-7. Penns Valley held the lead at the end of the first half at 33-25, and continued to hold it throughout the third quarter with a 52-44 lead. It wasn’t until the last few minutes of the game that Beaver fought back and took the lead. Beaver girls won the game with a final score of 62-59.

It was a good day in Lawrence County…for Beaver County Champions.
The two WPIAL champions from Beaver County, the Rochester Lady Rams and Lincoln Park Leopard Boys, came into New Castle High School and took care of business in Round 1 of the PIAA State Playoffs.
Despite a sluggish start and an injury to starting guard Alexis Robinson, the Lady Rams took quick care of the Otto-Eldred Terrors, winning Game 1 of the doubleheader 67-44 in Round 1 of the PIAA 1A playoffs. Tom Hays has the scoring recap:
Meanwhile, the Lincoln Park Leopards went wire-to-wire against the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils from District 6, and advance to the second round of the PIAA 3A Boys’ playoffs with a 73-55 victory at New Castle. Bob Barrickman breaks down the final totals:
