The Ambridge Bridgers knock off the Beaver Bobcats by a score of 70-54. The game started off as a close one going into halftime with the Bridgers up 27-21. After halftime it was a different story when the Bridgers started to pull away in the third quarter taking a 16 point lead going into the fourth quarter. And they just kept pouring it on not allowing the Bobcats the chance to get back in game.

(Hershey Park, Pa.) The Central Valley Warriors couldn’t survive a rough fourth quarter after dominating the first three quarters of the game. Wyoming Valley scored three times in the fourth quarter with the last coming as time was winding down in the game.
Beaver County Radio’s Bob Barrickman, Tom Hays, and Bruce Frey had the call for 1230 WBVP, 1460 WMBA, and 99.3 FM. After a scoreless first quarter, Central Valley took a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter when running back Jaylen Guy scored on a 1-yard run. The extra point was good. Central Valley took a 7-0 lead to the locker room for the half-time intermission. Early in the third quarter Central Valley running back Stephon Hall scored on a 2-yard run and the extra point made it 14-0 Central Valley. After 3 quarters Central Valley led 14-0. On the second play of the fourth quarter, on a third-and-8, Dominic DeLuca avoided a sack and threw an 80-yard TD pass to wide receiver Riley Rusyn. After Rusyn’s score Central Valley failed to score on its last three possessions. Down 14-7 an injured Dominic Deluca led his team back to what would end up being one of the all-time comebacks in PIAA State Championship games. When Wyoming Valley, also nicknamed the Warriors regained possession of the ball they scored again knotting the game up at 14 on a 4-yard TD pass from DeLuca to Ambrosino, That then set the stage as Wyoming Valley drove down the field after Central Valley could’t gain any momentum on offense. DeLuca’s 1-yard plunge was the game winner.

(Moon Twp., Pa.) In this weeks edition of “Thru the Eyes of Sly Washington” we are off to Moon Stadium and the PIAA 3A semi-final. The game featured the WPIAL Champion, Central Valley Warriors and the Bald Eagle Eagles. Beaver County Radio’s Bob Barrickman and Tom Hays had the call of the action. Zach Ulrich reported live on the sidelines throughout the game.
Central Valley started scoring early and never looked back. The defense got the party started with a safety on Bald Eagle Area’s second drive, making the score 2-0. On the ensuing possession, Jalen Guy ran the ball 9 yards up the left side for the score, but after a missed extra point, the score was 8-0. the Bald Eagles fumbled the kick-off, leading to a 30 yard TD catch by Juwan Hall, bringing the score to 15-0. Bald Eagle Area managed to put together a drive as the game was getting out of hand, but a missed field goal stopped them from gaining any momentum. On the next 2 drives, Miles Walker caught a TD and Michael Barbuto ran for a TD on a double reverse, leading to a score of 28-0 at half time.
The Warriors had the mercy rule on their mind when they came out of the locker room in the 3rd quarter. Reed Fitsimmons picked a pass off, which resulted in a 6 yard TD run from Ameer Dudley. With the mercy rule now in effect, Central Valley started to pile it on with a 30 yard field goal and a 90 yard interception return for a TD by Matt Merritt. The final score was Central Valley- 45 and Bald Eagle Area- 0. The Warriors will now move onto the PIAA 3A Final next Saturday December 7, 2019 at noon against Wyoming Area. Beaver County Radio’s Zach Ulrich will have the Freedom United Federal Credit Union sideline reports. (Pittsburgh, Pa.) In our second edition this weekend of “Thru the Eyes of Sly Washington” we are off to Heinz Field and the WPIAL 3A Championship. It was a rematch of a game from earlier in the season when The Central Valley Warriors dominated the Aliquippa Quips at the Pit in Aliquippa. The Quips had revenge on their minds heading into kick-off. Beaver County Radio’s Bob Barrickman, Tom Hays and Bruce Fry had the call of the action.
WPIAL Gold on the line and this time the game was a totally different it was all defense in the first half until Aliquippa found the end zone with 22 seconds left till the intermission when Running Back Isaiah Towler found Wide Receiver Chinua Soloman in the end zone with a 12 yard touchdown pass. Aliquippa took a 6-0 lead into the half after the failed PAT. The Quips and Warriors both had numerous chances to score in the hird quarter but the score remained 6-0 after three quarters in favor of the Quips. The fourth quarter told a differnet story when Central Valley found the end zone on a 6 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Ameer Dudley found Running Back Jaylen Guy and the Warriors tied the game at six missing the extra point the game stayed tied at the end of regulation play. In overtime The Warriors got the ball first and scoered on the first play when Wide Receiver Michael Barbuto took the sweep into the end zone from ten yards out. They added the extra point and made it 13-6, Then it was the Quips turn and on the second play of their possession Towler took it in from 11 yards out and made the score 13-12. The Quips, who are not really known for kicking field goals, went for two and the win Towler was stopped two yards short of the Goal Line and the Warriors would go on to win the 3A WPIAL Championship and advance to the PIAA State Play-offs. Central Valley will be off next week then play either Friday November 29th, or Saturday November 30th against a opponent to be determined, time and site will also be determined at a later date. The Quips finished another impressive season by making their 12th consecutive trip to play in a WPIAL Championship Game.

(Imperial, Pa.) In the first of two editions of “Thru the Eyes of Sly Washington” we ere off to Imperial and West Allegheny High School for the WPIAL 2A Semi-final as the upstart Riverside Panthers were playing the Avonworth Antolopes for the chance to advance to the WPIAL Championship next weekend.
It was a rough Friday night for the Panthers as they struggled to put numbers on the board. Avonworth started the first quarter off with a touchdown and carried that momentum into the second quarter with another touchdown. The Lopes missed the extra point ending the half with a 13-0. Avonworth didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second half scoring another two touchdowns. Avonworth headed into the fourth quarter leading 27-0. Avonworth continued to put numbers on the board, invoking the mercy rule but the Panthers refused to go down without a fight scoring two touchdwns in the fourth quarter. In the end the Lopes cruised to a 41-14 victory and a trip to Norwin for the WPIAL Championship next weekend against the Washington LIttle Prexies who defeated Brentwood 20-14 in the other semi-final game.
