Serra Catholic WPIAL 2A Champions!

The Serra Catholic Eagles defeated the defending champs the Beaver Falls Tigers tonight 35-12. The Tigers opened the game up with a 60 kick return that set the Tigers up with good field position, that they would eventually capitalize on going up 6-0 to start the game. But, the Eagles answered back by marching 65 yards down the field to take a 7-6 lead. On the Tigers second possession they were moving the ball again until they fumbled near the 50 yard line. The Tigers stopped the Eagles but soon after they get the ball back the Tigers throw a 25 yard pick 6 to give Serra Catholic a 14-6lead. The Eagles kept that lead heading into the half but the second half was much the same. As the Tigers held the Eagles scoreless in the third quarter. And opened the fourth quarter with a 1yd touchdown run for the Tigers. The Eagles lead was cut once again but, it was not enough as the Tigers turnovers started to add up. The Tigers turned the ball over 4 times in the fourth quarter, they finished the game with a total of 9 turnovers which ultimately led to their defeat. Because of the  4 turnovers in the fourth quarter the Eagles were able to score 21 unanswered points to give themselves a 5-12 victory, and the WPIAL Championship.

OLSH is Heading to Heinz!!

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers defeated the Rochester Rams tonight 14-13, and move on to the WPIAL Championship. The game started out hectic on the opening drive for the Chargers the punter mishandled the punt, got it off was a bad punt. The officials said the Rams return actually blocked the punt and the Chargers recovered the punt in Rochester territory. The Chargers eventually scored on a 5 yard touchdown run taking an early 7-0 lead in the first. The second quarter started out with Rams scoring on a 1yd run making it 7-7 in the second quarter. Right before halftime the Chargers took the lead scoring on a 23yd pass to take a 14-7 lead into the half. The quarter scoring kicked off with 57yd touchdown drive, but missed the extra point to tie the game. The Rams after had chances to take the lead but turned the ball over in Charger territory. The most devastating was the interception late in the fourth quarter that sealed the deal. The Chargers will play Bishop Canevin next weekend for the WPIAL 1A Championship.

Tigers Claw Out Another Victory Over Western Beaver 42-8

The Beaver Falls Tigers came out clawing and ran over Western Beaver 42-8 . The beavers played a hard game but big plays and a well balanced attack from the tigers was too much.  Beaver falls passed and ran the ball well coupled with a good defense that bent a few times but managed to hold the Golden Beavers out of the end zone until the 4th quarter.  Beaver Falls and New Brighton will meet next week for the second of playoffs.

Excitement on the air when New Brighton wins in Overtime 21-20:
