“Sides” Are The Main Course At Coaches Corner Tonight

A double-dose of 2A coaches comes your way for this week’s Coaches Corner.

Ron Sciarro has led his Riverside Panthers to a 5-2 record (4-2 in the Midwestern Athletic Conference), poised for another potential playoff run. He’ll discuss the potential for November as well as what’s to come in Week 8’s non-conference match with Valley.

He’ll be joined by South Side Beaver’s Luke Travelpiece, whose Rams are in second place in the Three Rivers Conference with a 6-2 record (4-2 in conference) and ready to make some noise in the 2A playoffs. Travelpiece will discuss what has made his team successful and what to look for in their Week 8 matchup with Fort Cherry.

Freedom 28 vs. Neshannock 7 Final on WBVP/WMBA and the Trib-Live Sports Network

(Freedom Pa.) It was homecoming for Freedom High School as the Bulldogs hosted the Neshannock Lancers. WBVP and WMBA’s Tom Hays and Bruce Frey had the call of this WPIAL Class 2A Midwestern Athletic Conference high school football game as the Bulldogs battled the Lancers.

In a game that Freedom got off to a hot start taking a 21-0 lead. The Lancers wouldn’t go down easy making it a 21-7 game at the half. With no scoring taking place. Freedom lead off the fourth with a touchdown making it 28-7 and their defense held strong and they win by a final of 28-7.

New Brighton 26 vs.Western Beaver 0 Final on WBVP and the Trib-Live Sports Network

(New Brighton Pa.) On a cool fall evening it was Senior Night from Oak Hill Field in New Brighton as the Lions hosted the Western Beaver Golden Beavers in a key WPIAL Class 2A MAC match-up. Bob Barrickman and Jason Colangelo had the call of the action on WBVP and Austin Bailey provided the Freedom United Federal Credit Union sideline reports throughout the game.

In a game that had playoff implications for both teams,  New Brighton jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. Their defense came up big with a turnover making it 13-0 in the first and never looked back.  The Lion defense held strong and came up with 4 interceptions in the game. New Brighton continued to play strong defense and the offense added to the score. Winning by a final of 26-0 on WBVP and TribLive.

Hopewell 7 vs. Central Valley 52 Final on WMBA and Trib-Live High School Sports Network

(Center Twp.) On a cool fall evening at Sarg Alberts Stadium in Center twp.  WMBA’s Tom Hays and Bruce Frey had the call of this WPIAL Class 4A Northwest Eight Conference high school football game as the Warriors battled the Vikings.

Tonight Central Valley won the coin toss but deferred to Hopewell whom quickly had to punt. After receiving the punt Central valley moved the ball down field for a 2 yard touchdown run by Noah Thompson. On the very next drive Central valley forced Hopewell to punt again which the led to them scoring on an 8 yard touchdown run by Ameer Dudley bringing the score to 14 to 0 Central Valley. Hopewell then fumbled the kickoff and central valley recovered which led to Jesse Shively scoring on a 1 yard touchdown run ending the first quarter with the score Central Valley 21 Hopewell 0.

At the start of the second the second Hopewell was forced to punt again which central Valley took down field for another touchdown which was a 2 yard run by Anthony Mendicino. On they’re next drive Hopewell threw an interception. Quaker valley then threw a 43 yard pass to Anthony Mendicino for a touchdown but they missed the pat bringing they’re total to 34. Hopewell then threw another intercepion leading to Anthony Mendicino getting another touchdown bringing the score to 40 to 0 and enacting the mercy rule for the second half. With under 2 minutes in the half Hopewell fumbled the ball again and central valley recovered the ball. With one minute left in the half Central valley put up another 6 points with a 9 yard touchdown run from Jaylen Guy. The half time score was Central Valley 46 Hopewell 0.

Immediatly after starting the second half Jaylen guy ran 55 yards for a touchdown bringing the score to 52 to 0 Central Valley. Neither tema scored up untill about 5 minutes left in the fourth Hopewell was finally able to put up some points with a 1 yard touchdown run by DeShawn Sanders. With the running clock the game was over quickly with a final of Central Valley 52, Hopewell 7
