Carnegie Mellon Spoils Geneva’s Home Opener!!

Carnegie Mellon spoils Geneva’s home opening tonight 31-17. The Golden Tornadoes struck first scoring on their second drive off of a 59 yard run making it 7-0. But, the Tartans quickly answered back marching down the field and scoring on a 6 yard run making it 7-7 going into the second quarter. As, the second quarter was all the Tartans scoring two touchdowns in the quarter as they took a commanding 21-10 lead into halftime. The third quarter was evenly matched as both teams traded touchdowns in the quarter, the Tartans held on to the lead as they entered the fourth quarter leading 28-17.Despite the valiant effort by the Golden Tornadoes it was not enough as they fall 31-17. The Golden Tornadoes drop to 0-2 as they will play Saint Vincent next week, and as for Carnegie they move to 1-1 as they will play Grove City next week.

Wooster outlasts Geneva

The Wooster Fighting Scots knocked off the Geneva Golden Tornadoes 42-35. It was a tight close game from kick-off to the last whistle. The Fighting Scots scored first on their opening drive going 75 yards  ending with a 3 yard touchdown run. The second quarter opened up with Payton Schell making diving catch for a touchdown capping off a 74 yard drive by the Golden Tornadoes. But, the Fighting Scots answered right back by scoring the next possession. The  Fighting Scots took a 21-14 lead going into the half. Both teams came out the second half swinging trading touchdowns in the third quarter, the Fighting Scots still held the lead 28-21 heading into the fourth quarter. The Fourth quarter was nothing short of excitement as both teams going touchdown for touchdown. But, despite all their efforts it was not enough for the Golden Tornadoes fell 42-35.

Geneva defeats Waynesburg 21-14!

Waynesburg scored the first points of this game to gain a quick lead during the first quarter.  Geneva stepped up during the second to tie it up at 7.  The score stayed tied going into halftime 7-7. In the second half, Waynesburg fire back early in the 3rd with a touchdown.  Geneva responded soon after to tie it back up at 14.  The Golden Tornadoes offense decided to get things done and managed one more to finally gain the lead late in the third.  Waynesburg fought back but the Geneva defense kept them out of the end zone.  Ultimately, Geneva took the win with a score Geneva 21 Waynesburg 14.  You can hear the post game heard on Beaver County Radio with announcers Mike Azadian and Jason Colangelo below.

Geneva takes the win over Grove City 24-17!

Geneva arrived at Reeves Field ready play tonight against Grove City.  The last time the Golden Tornadoes were able to conquer the Wolverines was in 2016. Geneva got points on the board early in the first with a 75 yard drive, which set their momentum for the rest of the game.  The Golden Tornadoes were able to tack on another touchdown and a field goal in the second, although the Wolverines responded with their first touchdown in the game, as well as a field goal.  The first half ended with a score of Geneva 17 Grove City 10. In the second half, Geneva managed to score early to increase their lead.  Grove City put up a fight and made some big plays, although they ultimately only gained one more touchdown.  The final score was Geneva 24 Grove City 17.  Hear the post game from Beaver County Radio announcers Bob Barrickman and Bruce Frey below.

Geneva falls to Washington & Jefferson 20-6

The Golden Tornadoes travelled to Washington to take on the Presidents for tonight’s college football matchup.  No points made it on the board until the end of the first when W&J managed a touchdown, although their extra point attempt was blocked by Geneva.  With halftime closing in, Geneva finally made it into the endzone although the extra point attempt went wide left, bringing the game to a tie at 6 with a minute left in the half.  The Presidents managed to complete a 40 yard hail mary touchdown pass with 4 seconds to play to break the tie going into the half W&J 13 Geneva 6.  The Golden Tornadoes tried to make a comeback in the second half but were unsuccessful.  W&J managed one more score during the third and fourth was scoreless.  The final score was W&J 20 Geneva 6.
