Steelers hope unexpected layoff doesn’t mess with rhythm
By WILL GRAVES AP Sports Writer
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he feels as if he’s “starting from scratch” after the team’s unexpected week off. The Steelers were given Week 4 off by the NFL after the league postponed Pittsburgh’s game against Tennessee because of a COVID-19 outbreak on the Titans. Roethlisberger says he believes his team “got the short end” of the decision to call the game. The 38-year-old Roethlisberger says he spent a portion of the weekend playing catch with his son. The Steelers return to action at home this week against cross-state rival Philadelphia.

Pens Trade Goalie Matt Murray to Ottawa
Trades start heating up at NHL draft as Penguins deal Murray
By STEPHEN WHYNO AP Hockey Writer
The Pittsburgh Penguins got the action started on the second day of the NHL draft by trading goaltender Matt Murray to the Ottawa Senators. Pittsburgh got a second-round pick, 52nd overall, and forward prospect Jonathan Gruden for their two-time Stanley Cup-winning goalie. Also, Nashville traded former Penguins forward Nick Bonino and two picks to Minnesota for Luke Kunin and a selection later in the draft. The trade action is heating up after just one move was made Tuesday involving established NHL players.
Penguins place veteran D Jack Johnson on waivers
Penguins place veteran D Jack Johnson on waivers
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Jack Johnson experiment is over in Pittsburgh. The Penguins have placed the 33-year-old defenseman on waivers so it can buy out the remaining three years of the deal he signed with the club in 2018. Johnson has struggled to keep pace with faster forwards during his tenure in Pittsburgh and the contract became an albatross of sorts for a team that pledged to get faster and younger following a qualifying-round playoff exit to Montreal. The Penguins did extend a qualifying offer to goalie Matt Murray, though he figures to be traded in the near future after the team signed Tristan Jarry to a three-year deal over the weekend.

Unbeaten Steelers try to take unexpected bye in stride
Unbeaten Steelers try to take unexpected bye in stride
By WILL GRAVES AP Sports Writer
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers say they’re not going to let their unexpected week off derail their focus. Pittsburgh’s scheduled game against Tennessee was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak among the Titans. The delay means the Steelers will have to end the regular season with 13 straight games, a prospect head coach Mike Tomlin says doesn’t bother him one bit. Pittsburgh is off to its best start in a decade behind the steady play of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The 38-year-old Roethlisberger has thrown seven touchdowns against one interception through three games. Pittsburgh hosts Philadelphia in Week 5.
Steelers, Titans rescheduled to Oct. 25, 2020: Steelers, Ravens now Nov. 1, 2020
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The NFL has rescheduled the Pittsburgh-Tennessee game postponed from Sunday to Oct. 25 in Week 7, and the Steelers will play Baltimore on Nov. 1 as a result of the Titans’ COVID-19 outbreak. The league announced the scheduling changes Friday, hours after the Titans’ outbreak expanded by two more players to a total of 14 within the past week. Officials from the NFL and its players union were in Nashville reviewing how the Titans have handled the outbreak. The Vikings, who played the Titans last week, again had no positive results and are on target to play Houston on Sunday.
