2017 Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival Day 2

The weather was great for day 2 of the 40th Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival. People came out by the hundreds to fill their bellies with some great pancakes. 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA did a live broadcast live from Brady’s Run Park.  The line was long for the Personality Prize wheel and kept Frank Sparks and Matt Drzik busy throughout the day.

2017 Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival Saturday April 1, 2017

Beaver  County Radio 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA broadcasted live all day Saturday  April 1,2017 at the 2017 Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival. The cold weather was not a deterrent as thousand of people attended the Maple Syrup Festival and filled their bellies with all you can eat pancakes topped with syrup from the maple trees of Brady’s Run Park. The pancakes might be the main attraction but there were many activities , vendors, demonstrations and a variety of live entertainment for everyone.

Now in it’s 40th year the Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival grows bigger and better every year and is held annually the first weekend in April.

 

Brault and others optioned to Triple A today

Left-hander Steven Brault was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on today , taking him out of the race for the final open spot in the Pirates’ starting rotation.

Infielder Gift Ngoepe also was sent to Indy. Right-hander Josh Lindblom and infielder Jason Rogers were reassigned to minor league camp.

The optioning of Brault assures the Pirates will not have a left hand pitcher in the starting  rotation to start the season this year barring any trades before opening day.

Pirates Padre, Father Bill Schwartz a guest on Teleforum Monday March 27, 2017

Father Bill Schwartz, The Pirates Padre, from St. Monica Church in Chippewa stopped by Teleforum on Monday morning March 27,2017 to promote Jason Grilli’s book Just My Game that he is selling . Jason Grilli hand signed each copy . Proceeds from the book go to Pirates Charities, St. Monica Catholic Academy, and also the  Love Your Neighbor project .  Father Bill discussed his special relationship with “Grill Cheese” and his family as well as his realationship with other players, coaches, and front office personnel . He explained how baseball is just a small portion of their lives and that he encourages spiritual growth and faith in the Lord. Father Bill and host Frank Sparks talked about Father Bill’s travels from a young boy on Mt. Washington playing baseball to how he arrived at St. Monica Parish in Chippewa.  Father Bill will be selling Just My Game at the Fish Fry’s on Friday’s throughout the remainder of Lent  at St. Monica Church which is located at 116 Thorndale Drive in Beaver Falls(Chippewa). The Fish Fry runs from 4pm – 7pm. You can also call the Parish office at 724-846-7540 for more information or to reserve your copy. Father Bill said the best thing is if you buy a book during the Fish Fry you are entered in to a drawing to receive an autographed Josh Harrison baseball bat that was donated by Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle.Tune into the Saturday Sports the next three Saturday’s as Frank and Greg will be giving away a copy of Just My Game.
