John N. “Hogie” Hannum (1932-2024)

John N. “Hogie” Hannum, 92, of Chippewa Twp., formerly of West Mayfield, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Celebration Villa of Chippewa.

Born February 14, 1932, in Clintonville, PA, he was the son of the late Norman “Mike” and Irene (Weckerly) Hannum.  A 1949 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, John went on to graduate from Geneva College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, and in 1965 graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a M.Ed. (Master of Education) degree. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served with the 80th Engineers during the Korean War.

His career included starting as a Warehouse Foreman at City Market in Beaver Falls and then went on to work at Babcock and Wilcox as an Engineer. His love of education then lead him to Blackhawk High School, where he was a math teacher.

A member of the West Mayfield Vets, John enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, camping, and boating in his spare time.  He was a loving father and pappy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jane (Whitla) Hannum in June of 1987; and a son, Mark Blakely Hannum in August of 2006.

He is survived by his son, Craig J. Hannum; his daughter-in-law, Holly Noel Hannum; two grandchildren and their spouses, Blakely P. and Leigh Hannum and Hannah Jane and Alex Goff; and three great-grandchildren, Colton Blakely Hannum, Jeremiah Woods Hannum and Olive Elizabeth Hannum.

Friends will be received on Friday, February 23rd from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm and Saturday, February 24th from 10am until the time of services at 11am in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC.- 117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa Twp.  Pastor Gary Bailey will officiate. Prior to services, full military honors will be performed by the Beaver County Special Unit.

Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Robert Guy “Bob” Peluso (1938-2024)

On February 15, 2024 after 85 and a half amazing years Robert Guy “Bob” Peluso passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Family and friends know and love Bob as a son, brother, grandson, husband, dad, Papa, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, cousin and friend.  Bob was a scholar, scientist, rescuer, inventor, world traveler, conversationalist and story-teller. A Pitt Panther fan, hand baller, bowler, jokester, leader, and listener. The best Shamoo ride giver, wine maker, foodie, pasta maker, provider and helper. A Frank Sinatra aficionado, music lover, and Fox News junkie. He was non-judgemental and endlessly supportive. Impeccable with his word and generous with his time and money. A brilliant mind and a fierce heart. He was simply the best. Bob will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday February 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in The Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Twp. (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.)  Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, Moon Twp. (everyone please meet at the church) Private interment will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell.

Richard Brooks Smallwood (1940-2024)

Richard Brooks Smallwood, 83 of Rochester Twp. passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, in his home.  He was born in Holly, WV on July 27, 1940 a son of the late Clarence and Desta Smallwood.  He was an owner and operator of Smallwood Tire for 45 years. He was also retired from Valvoline. Rich enjoyed racing motorcycles, quads, trikes and bikes. He was a National Champion of the Senior Class one year.   He loved to go fishing and crabbing in the Outer Banks. Most of all, he loved spending his time with his grandchildren and attending all their events. Some of his most cherished time was spent going home to West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Keith Smallwood and a granddaughter, Brook Crognale.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Smallwood; two children: Kimberly Crognale (Dave Josapak) New Brighton; Randy & Bridget Smallwood, Beaver; 3 grandchildren: Kelsie Crognale (Ryan Haggerty); Shane Smallwood and Seth Smallwood; 2 great grandchildren: Kenzie and Colton Haggerty; and a special brother-in-law: Perry Tice.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 2~4 &6~8pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester.  Also, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 10am until the time of Funeral Service at 11am.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Freedom Cemetery.

Marjorie Gail Wright (1937-2024)

Marjorie Gail Wright, 87, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Ellwood City.  She was born on January 3, 1937 a daughter of the late Gerald and Elizabeth McClester.  She was a longtime and active member of Christ Alliance Church in Hopewell Twp. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles W. Wright in 2015.

She is survived by her three children: Terry Wright, Hopewell Twp.; Pamela & Garry Mason, Raccoon Twp.; and Valerie Osso (Tom Kimmel), Ellwood City; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Jimmy) Mann; Travis (Keri) Wright, Hannah Mason, Sarah Mason, David Norris, Kristy Norris, Brianna Osso, and Nicholas (Demi) Osso; six great grandchildren: Nevaeh Wolfe, Devin Norris, Aryia Gibson, Enzo Wright, Tyler Wright, and Isabella Wright; one great great granddaughter; Naomi Bussman; and a sister: Eveta (Tom) Mudrick-Gregg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa.  Also, on Wednesday February 21, 2024 from 10am until the time of Funeral Service at 11am.

Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Ralph A. Bonzo (1930-2024)

Ralph A. Bonzo, 94, of Chippewa Twp., formerly of Daugherty Twp., passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at his residence.

Born February 3, 1930, in New Sewickley Twp., he was the son of the late Lester and Elizabeth (Young) Bonzo.  He attended Zelienople High School.  He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church of North Sewickley Township.  He worked for Townsend Textron Company for 15 years in Ellwood City and drove truck for E&B Oil Company in Beaver Falls.

Ralph enjoyed farming with his family and helping with all the chores.  After he retired, he joined the Retired Persons Club of New Brighton and enjoyed the fellowship with the men when they went bowling at Sim’s Bowling Lanes. He did that for 26 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine (Eisenbrown) Bonzo; his daughter, Cheryl Stumpf; his son-in-law, James Stumpf; his grandson, Eric Stumpf; his brothers, Wilmer Bonzo and Floyd Bonzo; his brothers-in-law, George Eisenbrown, Kenneth Eisenbrown, Clayton Eisenbrown, Herbert Eisenbrown and Bill Meiter; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Durr, Thelma Barry, and Phyllis Eisenbrown.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Raymond Spolarich, Connie and Keith Birosh, Jayne and Bill Schlemmer,  and Janice and Ron Teets; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and another one on the way; his sister, Velma Meiter; his brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Nancy Bonzo; his sisters-in-law, Sara  Bonzo, Reatha Bonzo, Betty Eisenbrown, and Faye (Eisenbrown) Ridenour; a lot of nieces, nephews and many good friends and neighbors.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 20th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm and Wednesday from 10am until the time of services at 11am in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME- 117 Blackhawk Rd., Chippewa Twp. Rev. John Magargee will officiate.

Norma Jean Borroni (1935-2024)

Norma Jean Borroni, 88, of Koppel, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley – Beaver.

Born on July 1, 1935, in Koppel, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sylvia Frontini.

Norma grew up in her favorite place, Koppel PA and stayed to fall in love with another Koppel/New Galilee boy Frank and raise a large family.  Norma graduated from Lincoln HS and worked at Mellon Bank in BF. Norma continued to stay friends with her HS class and happily attended monthly luncheons until her passing. Norma’s great loves were gardening, canning, and reading. Her home was always full of beautiful flowers and plants, inside and out.

Norma’s world revolved around her family. A few of the organizations she was involved in with her children included the Koppel Elementary PTA Officer 12 yrs., Big Beaver Falls Football Booster Club 11yrs., Beaver Falls Band Booster 4 yrs., and Koppel Cub & Girl Scouts leader.

After all 5 children were grown she was able to devote time to her passions which included; Knotted with Love Knitting Org., Mystical Rose Prayer Org., Ellwood City Historical Society, and LMBA Women’s Bocce League just to name a few.

Norma loved camping all over Pennsylvania with family and had a wonderful place at Moraine Camplands Resort for 30 yrs. What great memories were made there.  Norma loved cooking & baking for family and friends and her recipes are LEGENDARY in Koppel and beyond.  There wasn’t a Wedding Cookie Table that she didn’t fill with her finest delicacies in 70 years.  Norma loved playing cards with her Koppel GiGi Girls monthly for over 30 years.  Her Lincoln HS girlfriends monthly also for years and continued her love of card playing with friends & family around the kitchen table.

Norma was so talented. When her children were younger, she made most of their clothes.  Later she joined Knotted with Love org at Holy Redeemer Catholic church where she was a member.  Norma enjoyed making afghans, wash cloths and such to be given away to families in need. Intertwined with another Catholic group is The Mystical Rose Prayer org that she enjoyed weekly devotions and fellowship.  She was a devout Catholic.

Norma was the Koppel Judge of Elections for 50 years and Beaver County.  She took that job very seriously.  Norma was a lifelong, proud Democrat.

Norma loved to travel with family and friends.  What wonderful trips we have enjoyed with her. Multiple countries and at least 20 states. Such a blessing.

Norma had a life well lived to the fullest.  Her legacy is her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, loved recipes, and great memories of all that loved her.  What an amazing mother, wife of almost 65 years to Frank, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister-in-law, neighbor, and friend to all that knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Borroni; and stillborn daughter Rose Marie Borroni.

Norma is survived by her loving children, Frank (Mary Beth) Borroni, Valerie (Kevin) Mastalski, Lori (John) Engle, David (Jodi) Borroni, and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Borroni; grandchildren, Philip (Kate) Borroni, Elizabeth (Brennan) Gallagher, Samuel Borroni, Tracy Mastalski, Alison (John) Clutter, Kennedy Engle, Quinn Borroni, David Borroni, and Emily Borroni; great-grandchildren, Ruth Borroni, Hattie Gallagher, and Harper Gallagher; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and loyal friends.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 19th from 2-4PM & 6-8PM in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Chippewa Twp., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 20th at 10AM at Holy Redeemer Church – Divine Grace Parish, 415 4th Street, Ellwood City.

Private interment will be in Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.

Robert DelSota (1940-2024)

Robert DelSota, of Beaver, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Born March 8, 1940 in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of the late Salvatore & Margaret DelSota. A proud veteran of the U. S. Navy, Bob resided in Beaver most of his life. He had a 40-year career in the steel industry, retiring as Manager of Production at Sharon Tube Company. In his spare time, Bob was an avid golfer, loved to travel, spend time with his family, and was very involved with the Beaver Boosters.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62-years, Judith Ann Brubaker DelSota, Beaver; sons, Michael W. (Diana) DelSota, and Mark A. (Krista) DelSota; daughter, Deborah A. (Robert) Prothero; sisters, Arlene (Howard) Braun, and Margaret A. “Peggy”(James) Frankland; grandchildren, Joshua M. DelSota, Alexandria M. (Mike) Taormina, and Alec D. (Sarah Tholen) DelSota; along with great-grandchildren, Quinn and Zoey Taormina.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

James F. “Jim” Hogue (1949-2024)

James F. “Jim” Hogue, 74, of Brighton Township, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Friday, February 16, 2024, in the comfort of his home.

Born on November 26, 1949, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Frank Hogue and the late Louise (Pittser) Mowry.

Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War.  He retired from Koppel Steel as an accountant and was Presbyterian by faith.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan, but most of all, was a doting father and grandfather.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Linda (Ours) Hogue; children, Debbie Hogue-DeRicco, James Hogue, Jr., and Lori (Brian) Hogue-Pavelek; grandchildren, Allie (Barak), Mackenzie, Cody, Hunter, Garrett, and Taylor; a great-grandson, Milo; nephews, Danny Putney and David Putney; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Putney.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, February 21st from 2-4PM & 6-8PM in the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22nd at 11AM in the funeral home chapel.  Military honors will be accorded by the Beaver County Special Unit prior to services.

Dorothy Ann Yannick (1943-2024)

Dorothy Ann Yannick, 81, of Aliquippa, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 15, 2024, at Apple Blossom Personal Care, Moon Township, where she had been a resident for a short time. She was born on January 4, 1943, in Aliquippa, to the late Alex and Anna (Czuczko) Kowalski. She worked in the kitchen at Aliquippa Hospital retiring with 32 years of service. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Andrew H. Yannick, Jr., on December 18, 2023, three brothers, Walter, John, and Nick Kowalick, two sisters, Ann Maz and Katherine Ziomek. She is survived by two stepdaughters, Susan Greenwald and Christine Yannick, both of Coraopolis and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday from 10 AM until time of funeral services at Noon in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Dr. Ambridge. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hopewell Township. The family would like to thank the staff of Appleblossom Personal Care for the loving and compassionate care extended to Dorothy during her final days there.

Tammy R. Hoffman December 16, 1963 – February 13, 2024

Tammy R. Idzojtic Hoffman, 60, of Rochester Twp., passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Heritage Valley Beaver.  Born December 16, 1963, in Rochester, Tammy is the daughter of Mary T. Sciaretta and the late Nick Idzojtic. Tammy was a shift manager with D.M.S., Direct Marketing Solutions, Cranberry Twp.  She was Catholic by faith, a member of the Conway Croatian Club Lodge 540. Tammy is survived by her husband, Stephen B. Hoffman, Sr., a daughter, Nichole R. Hoffman, West Aliquippa, Three sons and two daughters in law, Joshua David and Brooke Hoffman, Magnolia, Delaware, Justin Michael Hoffman, Rochester Twp., Stephen B., Jr., and Allison Hoffman, Xenia, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Kinsley, Claire, Kendall and Julian.  Three Aunts, Roseann Granis, New Brighton, Cindy Brawdy, Conway and Mary DeSanzo, Baden.  She was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1 to 5 in The William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., where services will be held at 5:15 led by Tammy’s cousin, Dan Pindilli.
In lieu of flowers family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Beaver County Cancer and Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
