Michael S. Dichov (Passed on July 18th, 2025)

Michael S. Dichov, 73, of Monaca, formerly of Brookeville, Maryland, passed away on July 18th, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford following a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vsevolod and Ann, his sister, Kathie, and his brother-in-law, Mike Fedoroff. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cecily (Fronko), his siblings, Valentina Fedoroff, Maria Dichov, Al Dichov (Lisa Janssen) and Ann Dichov (Tom Malusa), her cousins, nieces, and nephews and last but not least, his feline family: Skittles, Minka, Pria, Maya and Peebles.

Michael was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Silver Spring, Maryland at age thirteen. He attended Montgomery Blair High School of Silver Spring, Maryland, where he excelled in sports, which continued through his college career and adult life. Michael retired from Montgomery County Public Schools of Rockville, Maryland in 2007 as a health and physical education teacher. He spent his retirement traveling, visiting family and playing lots of gold and tennis. He actually had a golf club in his hand at the age of seven.

He cultivated many lasting friendships over the years and was especially proud of his most recent endeavor of teaching square dancing at the Center at the Mall this past winter.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of doctors, nurses and therapists at UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Mercy Spinal Rehab unit, and finally at the wonderful nurse’s staff at Good Samaritan Hospice. Words cannot express our gratitude. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Helen Nadine (Locy) Barnes (1936-2025)

Helen Nadine (Locy) Barnes, 88, of New Brighton, passed away peacefully in her home on July 21st, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 14th, 1936, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Alvin and Gertrude (Elliott) Locy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Reber, her son, Daniel Wilhelm and her siblings: Betty Snyder, Artis Matthews, Earl Locy, Charlotte Remington, and Sandra Fisk. She is survived by her husband, Donald Barnes, her children: Cynthia Hancock (Greg), Nancy Morgan, Randy Wilhelm, Ronald Wilhelm (Roxanna) and Fredrick Toth (Melissa); as well as her brother, Gary Locy and her sister, Phyllis Siros. She was also a cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many who is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen often said that her children were the best thing that ever happened to her. In her words: “I love all of them the same. None no different than the other. They are so good to me in a lot of ways.” Her deep love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Helen’s devoted nursing staff, Jen, Jess, and Ashley, as well as her beloved caretaker, Tina, whose compassion and care provided great comfort in her final days.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 24th, from 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M., at the J & J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, who was in charge of her arrangements, and where a Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, July 25th at 10 A.M. Officiating will be Sam Fidell. Interment will take place at the Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum following the Celebration of Life Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, in honor of the compassionate care they provided or to Living Manna Family Church, in honor of Helen’s generous spirit and faith.

Joann M. (Klak) Barna (1934-2025)

Joann M. (Klak) Barna, 91, of Hopewell, passed away on July 21st, 2025, at The Celebration Villa of Chippewa surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 5th, 1934, a daughter of the late Vincent and Pauline Klak.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Barna, a son, Richard Barna, her siblings and their spouses, Sophie (Victor) Andreatta, Dorothy (Ercole) DiNinno, Henry (Mary) Klak, Ed (Shirley) Klak and two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Michael (Natalie) Barna Jr., Barbara Ann Barna, Veronica Barna and Richard Jula. She is survived by her loving children, David (Deborah) Barna, Diane (Tom) Canning and Jon (Becky) Barna, her three grandchildren, Michael, Alex, and Megan, her sister, Flo Jula, her brother-in-law and her sister-in-law, Robert (Rita) Barna.
Joann was a faithful member of Mary Queen of Saints Parish and St. Titus Roman Catholic Church of Aliquippa. She actively contributed to her community as a member of Red Hat society and Eager Beaver bowling lead. She cherished her role as the heart of her family. Every moment spent with her loved one was a treasure, from lively holiday gatherings to quiet evenings sharing stories. Her presence was a comforting constant and a source of strength and unwavering support that knitted them all together.

Lois J. Theuerl (1942-2025)

Lois J. Theuerl, 83, of Beaver, passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2025 at Cambridge Village of Patterson Township.

She was born in Beaver Falls on February 20th, 1942, a daughter of the late James and Frances (Headland) Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, June, Clyde, Don, Carol, and Dickie. She is survived by her children, Christian (Deborah Dorsey) Theuerl and Monica Simpson-Jeannette, her siblings, Barbara (Pat) Whalen and Paul (Lana) Simpson, her grandson, Noah Jeannette and her beloved feline companion, Misty.

Lois had retired from the State Liquor Store as a manager and later worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier.  She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church of Beaver, part of Our Lady of the Valley Parish. Lois had a love for animals and enjoyed her church, playing cards and reading.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11 A.M. at St. Christopher at the Lake Church of St. Faustina Parish, 232 N Franklin Street, Prospect, Pennsylvania with Fr. Adam Verona as celebrant.

Margaret “Marge” Yoders (1923-2025)

Margaret “Marge” Yoders, 101, of Moon Township, died on July 19th, 2025 in the Bridgeville Rehabilitation & Care Center. She was born in Pittsburgh on August 25th, 1923, a daughter of the late John & Florentine (Hufnagel) Beck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Oliver McDonald, her second husband, George James Yoders, a son, Thomas Scott McDonald, a brother, William D. Beck, a sister, Virginia Schott, her stepsons, Craig Yoders and Clifford Yoders and her son-in-law, Charles Henderson. She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Henderson of Moon Township and her stepdaughter, Kathy Yoders, seven grandchildren: Jonathan McDonald (Brigitte), Chad Hanson, John McDonald, Dale McDonald, Kendria May, Clifford Yoders & Jaison Yoders; as well as five great grandchildren: Zane McDonald, Lexen McDonald, Norah Hanson, Scott McDonald & Collin McDonald.

Growing up during the depression, “Grandma GiGi” shared countless stories, not only about happy family memories, but also about the hardships, especially constantly having to move wherever her father could get work. Margaret remembered going to seventeen different schools throughout her childhood.  She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in McKees Rocks  in 1941 where she had the lead in the class play. In her early years she loved to dance, especially dancing around the living room with her daughter when American Bandstand came on the TV.  She was a great cook and at one point she raised chickens and delivered eggs to her local customers who called her “the egg lady.”  Although she couldn’t read music she played the organ beautifully, often entertaining family and friends. In her later years, she was a voracious reader (mostly romance novels) and along with friends was a member of the Red Hat Society (although she had no patience for the hat because it messed up her hair). The family is most appreciative of the care and compassion from the staff at Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care Center and Heartland Hospice over the past two years.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 22nd from 3 P.M. until the time of a Blessing Service at 7 P.M. in the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Township, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, Moon Township, who was in cahrge of her arrangements. Private interment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Road, Coraopolis, will take place at a later date.

Duane Ross Damaso (1961-2025)

Duane Ross Damaso, 64, passed away after an extended illness in his home on July 17th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sewickley on November 20th, 1961, a son of the late Ross and Patricia (Jeanne) Damaso. He is survived by his wife, Denise Damaso, four sons: Robert (Cecilia) Banks, Michael Guiliani, Nicholaus (Carrie) Guiliani, Timothy (Shaila) Guiliani; as well as six grandchildren, Toby, Charlie, Sandra, Brianna, Dante and Dominic; along with two brothers, David (Brenda) Damaso and Dwight Damaso, a niece, Dayna (Keith) Huseman and a nephew, Sam (Tara) Damaso. In accordance with Duane’s wishes, all arrangements are private. Arrangements have been entrusted to SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. James M. Myers (1945-2025)

James M. Meyers, 80, of Chippewa Township, formerly of Beaver, passed away on July 18th, 2025 in his residence. He was born in Sewickley on May 18th, 1945. He was raised by his foster parents, the late Fred E. and Ruth Dozer. In addition to his foster parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara I. (Lilley) Meyers, his step-grandson, Steven Egan, his step-daughter, Theresa M. Egan, his sister, Gladys I. Mills, his brother, Robert W. Mills and a step-brother and sister in law, Pete and Nancy Brunnner. He is survived by three daughters and two son in laws, Tina Renee Leroy, Mingo Junction of Ohio, Dawn Desiree and Joshua Hoit of Wellsburg, West Virginia, Angela McFarland and Robert Hamrick of Dumfries, Virginia, five step daughters and four step sons in law, Linda L. and Chris Loomis of Monaca, Jamie L. and David Pedaline of Rochester Township, Jeanine A. and Ted Kypreos of Rochester, Rhonda J. Warnick and her companion Bruce of Cranberry Township, Denise L. and Martin Bohinski of McDonald, Pennsylvania, one sister and brother in law, Gloria and Louis Ghem of Elyria, Ohio, one step sister in law, Laura Brunner of Midland, twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. James was a retired employee with the former Phoenix Glass of Monaca and Allied Security. He was Protestant by faith. He was also an avid Steelers fan who loved his coffee and cold beers at home. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his late wife Barb and his family. Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 23rd, from 3-7 P.M., with a service following at 7:15 P.M. in The William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester, who was in charge of his arrangements. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin Seiling. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, 1101 9th Street, Extension, Freedom. Andrea Jo Mendenhall (1958-2025)

Andrea Jo Mendenhall, 67, of Beaver Falls, passed away on July 17th, 2025, at Heritage Valley Health System, Beaver Campus.

She was born in Beaver Falls on April 28th, 1958, a daughter of the late Nancy (Campbell) Oliver. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter Roberta (Mendehall) Jenkins, her maternal grandparents, Andrew and Rebecca Campbell and her parents-in-law, John and Amelia Mendenhall. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Thomas “Tim” A. Mendenhall, two sons, Matthew (Vawne) Brickner and Robert (Cindy) Oliver, a daughter, Selena Mendenhall, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother, Michael (Michelle) Oliver, a sister, Becky (Regis) Quin and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Andrea was a member of Redeemer Trinity Lutheran Church in Monaca. She was also an avid bingo player at the Beaver Falls American Legion.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 23rd from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1113 Penn Avenue, New Brighton, who was in charge of her arrangements, and where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 11 A.M. with Pastor Angela Smith officiating.

John William Winemiller, Jr. (1956-2025)

John William Winemiller Jr. (Bill), 69, passed away on June 30th, 2025.
He was born in Anchorage, Alaska on May 11th, 1956, the son of John Sr. and Mary Winemiller. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Lonnette (Steve) Tettenburn and his niece, Lindsey (Steve) Whitlock. John grew up as a “Ridge Runner” in Dawson Ridge of Brighton Township. He lived in several Beaver County communities as well as Maryland and Florida, before he returned to Brighton Township in 2023. He had a long career performing many different jobs at Valvoline Oil Refinery in Freedom. He will be remembered as a fun-loving son, brother and uncle. He was also an avid reader and fisherman and was always quick to make you laugh, either with a good joke or a funny story.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 24th from 2 P.M. until the time of a memorial service at 4 P.M. in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, who was in charge of his arrangmenets.

Daniel K. Yourd, Sr. (1955-2025)

Daniel K. Yourd, Sr., 70, of Ohio Township, Pennsylvania, formerly of Moon Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 19th, 2025.

He was born in Champaign, Illinois, on April 9th, 1955, a son of Verna Yourd and the late Raymond A. Yourd. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Karen, their sons, Danny (Erin) and Matthew (Meredith) and the grandchildren he adored: Oliver, Rooney, Dorothy, Vincent, and Winnie; as well as his twin brother, David (Helen), his brother, Raymond, his sister, Sue (Steve), his mother-in-law, Patricia Ludwig, his sister-in-law, Kimberly (Kenneth) Parker and many nieces and nephews.

Daniel grew up in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, where he earned a degree in Bio/Physics. It was at Wittenberg that he met the love of his life, Karen. They were married on July 23rd, 1977. He completed a Nuclear Medicine program at the University of Pittsburgh and worked for several years for General Electric selling radiology equipment. He then returned to Pitt and earned a master’s degree in Health Physics. He worked almost twenty years for Duquesne Light Company at the Nuclear Power Plant in Shippingport. During this time, he coached his sons and many other children in baseball, soccer, and basketball. This joy of working with children led him to return to Pitt, where he earned his master’s degree in education. He taught Science and Math at Moon Area Middle School for 18 years and retired in June of 2020. His passion was running. He ran twenty-two marathons and enjoyed running every day, especially at the River Walk in Pittsburgh.

Friends will be received on Thursday, July 24th from 2–4 P.M. and 6–8 P.M. at the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Township, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, Moon Township, who was in charge of his arrangements.

A funeral service will also be held at Riverdale Presbyterian Church, 1555 Broadhead Road, Moon Township on Friday, July 25th at 11:00 a.m. Pastor John Dykstra will officiate.
