Kurt J. Verrico (1959-2024)

Kurt J. Verrico, 65, of Rochester, passed away at his home on April 4th, 2024. Born on February 28th, 1959 in Rochester, Kurt was the son of the late Donald J. and Marilyn J. Barr Verrico, who preceded him in death. Kurt is survived by one daughter, Cami N. Stockman and her fiancé Robert Emes of North Sewickley Township, one son and daughter-in-law, Brandon D. Verrico and his wife Tara, of Patterson Township, five grandchildren, Ariana, Emma, Matthias, Olivia, and Benji, former wife Diane L. (Verrico) Edmunds, of Beaver, one brother and sister-in-law, Brian D. “Kim” and Gayle Verrico, of Rochester, one sister and brother-in-law, Dawn Marie and Jimbo Moser, Cresent Township and their son, Noah, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his K-9 companion, Stella. He was a retired distribution manager for the Beaver County Times and owner of the KAKARE LAWN SERVICE BUSINESS, Rochester. Kurt was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and attended the Life Family Church of New Brighton. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1977 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Robert Morris University. Kurt was an avid golfer and also a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins.
Kurt’s wish was to be cremated, however, friends will be invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Family Church of New Brighton.

Kathy D. Ash (1946-2024)

Kathy D. Ash, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 3rd, 2024, in Life Beaver County. Kathy was born October 8th, 1946 in Rochester and was the daughter of the late Robert and Eva Cain Herman. Kathy was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathaniel Ash, a brother, Ralph Herman and former husband, Donald A. Ash, Sr. Kathy is survived by one son and daughter in law, Donald A. Jr. and Tiffany Ash of Rochester, two grandchildren, Amber J. Ash of New Castle, and Deven C. Ash and his fiance Katy Hoenig of Chippewa, two great grandchildren, Milah and Zoey Russell of New Castle, two sisters and one brother in law, Beverly and Robert Messick, Sue Ellen Covalt, all of New Brighton, and numerous nieces and nephews and three beloved friends, Donna, Mae and Judy. Kathy was a graduate of Rochester High School, a former waitress at the former Isaly’s Restaurant, The Hilltop Restaurant and also Dorothy’s Lunch in Rochester. Kathy had also been a caregiver for various families throughout Beaver County. She was an avid baker who also loved to play bingo and watch game shows. Most of all, Kathy loved her family and going to My Hero’s Sub Shop, Rochester.
Kathy’s wishes were to be cremated with a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, May, 5, 2024 at 2PM at the Rochester Free Methodist Church, officiating will be Robert Messick.
Kathy’s family is extremely grateful for the nurses who stood by her side during her time with Life Beaver County, Kyona, Frannie, Icis, Sweetie and Mark for all the comfort and care they provided Kathy.

Freda Mack Portman (1925-2024)

Freda Mack Portman, 98, formerly of Brighton Township, passed away on April 4, 2024.
Born on November 7, 1925, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, Freda was the daughter of the late Russell and Clara Estelle St. Clair Mack. Along with her parents, Freda is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Portman; and her sisters, Cleo Scheinert, Ethel Koehler, and Doris Patterson.
Freda will be sadly missed by her daughters, Peg Bryant, and Linda (Dr. John) Baska; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of Four Mile Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a Deacon. Freda also was a former member of Crimson Line Friendship Ridge, Red Hats, Meals on Wheels, and Ft. McIntosh Club. She loved to play bridge and golf, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
As per Freda’s wishes, all services were private.
Freda was laid to rest with her husband in Beaver Cemetery.

Dave Dragan, Sr. (1935-2024)

Dave Dragan, Sr. passed away on April 4, 2024 peacefully at home with his wife, Kitty, at his side. Born on December 1, 1935, in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Dave was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Dragan, who preceded him in death. Dave is survived by his wife Kitty (Binkoski) Dragan; sons, David (Cindy) Dragan of Raccoon Township, and Doug (Nathalie) Dragan, Monaca; daughter, Kellie (Greg) Megahan of Moon Township; brother Gary Dragan of Vanport; grandchildren, Maggie (Jay) Miller of Monaca, Kylie Dragan of Sydney, Australia, McCall (Ben) Inge of Monaca, Michael Megahan, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; great-grandchildren, Amelia Inge, Claire Inge, and Charlotte Miller all of Monaca.He was a faithful member of Living Water Family Church of Monaca, Pennsylvania. Dave graduated from Beaver High School and continued on to attend and graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where her served as President of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Before his retirement, Dave was the Operations Manager of Kaufmann’s, Rochester and Saks Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh. Dave was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, a former Tipstaff for Judge C. Gus Kwidis at the Beaver County Courthouse, and was formerly active with youth sports, including Brighton Township Midget football and a Little League Coach.
Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 4 PM until the time of service at 7 PM in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. The service will be performed by his son, Pastor Doug Dragan, Living Water Family Church. Full Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home at 4:30.

Greg Anderson (1953-2024)

Greg Anderson, 70, of Crescent Township, passed away on April 1, 2024 in Heritage Valley Sewickley.  He was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on May 9, 1953, the son of the late George & Lily (McIntosh) Anderson. In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his sisters, Carole Lee Prather & Alayne Gayle Brenner.

Greg is survived by his wife of  50 yrs, Sally A. (Thomas) Anderson, a son, Daniel (Jennifer) Anderson, granddaughter, Eva Anderson of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, two step-grandchildren, Abagail & Nick Hudock, and a daughter Elizabeth (Ben) Anderson of Crescent, Pennsylvania, and niece, Layne Anderson.

He is also survived by his brother, John D. Anderson (Fluff), and a sister, Lily Beth Anderson.

Greg loved animals, nature, swimming, and running as a child until he found music in his youth, which quickly consumed his hours; listening to music and learning all of his favorite songs.

While working at Grant’s department store, he met his future wife, Sally.  They adventured across the country as the band, Common Touch.  When this adventure came to end, they returned to western Pennsylvania and made the region their home.

While Greg worked as a steel worker, most knew him for his dedication to work safety for himself and his coworkers.  He continued to pursue music, playing in cover bands throughout his life and his favorite hobby was fishing; spending hours catching fish and then releasing them back to the waters to be caught again another day.

All services are private at this time. The Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Township is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Red Cross.

John H. Ludwig (1944-2024)

John H. Ludwig, 79, of Beaver Falls, passed away on March 31, 2024, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born on May 13, 1944, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late John J. “Jack” and Margaret E. (Gonnelly) Ludwig.

He is survived by his loving children, Jon T. (Julie) Ludwig and Jennifer L. Ludwig.

John was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam. He was an electrician by trade and retired from I.B.E.W.  Local 712 after 36 years of service. John was a former member of the Beaver Falls Owls, Elks and Turners.

As per John’s wishes there will be no viewing.

Private interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.

George P. Harmotto (1932-2024)

George P. Harmotto, 91, of Baden passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024. Born on July 14, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Ella Harmotto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Storar, and brothers, Robert Harmotto and John Harmotto. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol (Neuber) Harmotto, children, Charles Storar and Betsy Forrest, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. George served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Port Authority of Allegheny County. He helped at Economy Cemetery for several years. George was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his yard. Friends will be received on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, 547 8th Street, Ambridge. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Economy Cemetery.

Joseph Campana (1948-2024)

Joseph Campana, 75, of Baden, passed away on April 3, 2024. Born on May 20, 1948, he was the son of the late George and Evelyn Campana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Campana. He is survived by his son, Clint Campana, siblings, George (Karen) Campana, Helen (Stephen) McElheny, Gloria (William) Woodward, and numerous nieces and nephews. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after over 40 years from Conrail (Norfolk Southern) Railroad. Joseph was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing, and adventures to Cooks Forest. He especially loved taking trips with his son and friends to Canada to fish. Services are private, and arrangements were entrusted to Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, 547 8th Street, Ambridge.

Anthony David (A.D.) Kamzelski (1949-2024)

Anthony David (A.D.) Kamzelski, 74, of Ambridge, passed away on April 2, 2024. Born on October 3, 1949, he was a son of the late Milly and Richard Kamzelski and brother of Michael Kamzelski. He is survived by a sister Mary Jo Scassa and Richard (Jerry) Kamzelski, He also leaves behind 4 brother in laws, Richard Eric (Kathleen), Drew, Scott, and the late Craig Tusick, who he loved and considered them all as his brothers. He was a loving father to Shannon (Thomas) Sanders and grandfather to Madison Sanders, who were the joys of his life. He was married to Leslie (Tusick) Kamzelski for 51 years. A.D. was an Ambridge Highschool graduate class of 1967. He was a retired Conrail Conductor. He enjoyed fishing and puzzles of all kinds.  He always saw the good in every single person he knew. A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Jill McGregor at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 399 State Street, Baden, Pennsylvania. Arrangments were entrusted to Alvarez Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, 547 8th Street, Ambridge.

 

Lynn Stinson (1956-2024)

Lynn Elizabeth Stinson, 67, of Lima, Ohio, passed away on April 1, 2024.

Born October 13, 1956, in Beaver Falls, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Ruth (Shee) Yensull.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Gayle Marsh and brother-in-law, Joe Shubuck. Surviving Lynn are her siblings, Lonnie (Jeanne) Yensull, Lenny Yensull, Loren Yensull, LuAnne (Robert) Klemens, and Lee Shubuck, her best friend, Susie Seifert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She recently retired after over 30 years of working for the Ford Motor Company.  She will be remembered for enjoying traveling, shopping, Renaissance festivals, and photography.  Lynn loved movies and cats, and various things that she collected.

Friends will be welcomed Friday, April 5, from 5pm until the time of the Blessing Service at 7pm, in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave, New Brighton.

Private interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Beaver Falls.
