Mary Ann Dilworth (1932-2024)

Mary Ann Dilworth, 92, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on August 31, 2024 at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness. She was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania on May 29, 1932, a daughter of the late John Monroe Fairchild and Esther Emmalene Freas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother William Fairchild, her sister Elsie Mitchell, her son Robert Emmett Dilworth III, and her grandson Kevin James Dilworth.

She is survived by her son, John (Julie) of Winslow, Arkansas, son William (Gaylene) of Moon Township, and daughter Judith Cantrell (Sean) of Bridgeville, Delaware, 3 grandchildren, Rita Dilworth, Robert Dilworth IV, Jacob (Evelyn) Dilworth, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann married Robert Emmett Dilworth, Jr. on July 17, 1954 in Berwick, Pennsylvania.  They met while both were attending Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

She taught English in the Norristown, Pennsylvania and Claymont, Delaware schools and sponsored the Claymont High School yearbooks for several years. She was an enthusiastic volunteer with organizations, including Green Circle, NCCJ, Meals-On-Wheels, The Wellness Center, and many others. In recognition of her years of service, she received the Governor of Delaware’s Outstanding Volunteer Award.

She and her husband Bob were both Charter Members who also served on the Board of the Dickinson Theater Organ Society since its inception in 1969.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to The Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Township.

Paul A. Rosa, Jr. (Passed on August 28, 2024)

Paul A. Rosa, Jr., 85, of Center Township passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 28, 2024.

Paul was raised in Aliquippa and graduated from St. Veronica High School in Ambridge. In 1956, Paul embarked on his career at J & L Steel in Aliquippa. His strong sense of duty led him to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul returned to J & L Steel and eventually retired from U.S. Steel in 2003, after 45 years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul A. Sr. and Gladys Rosa, his brother, John Leo Rosa, his sister, Mary Ellen Drew and his niece Sue Rosa. He is survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister, Kathryn (late Bill) Hetzer, remained an important part of his life, as did his many feline friends, who were a source of comfort and companionship.

He and his cherished wife, Carol L. Rosa, were united in marriage on June 11, 1960, at St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa. Their union was blessed with six children: Karen A. Rosa, Patricia L. Rosa, Nancy L. Rosa (Gary Webster), Paul A. Rosa III (Beth), Sarah E. Baker, and Daniel L. Rosa (Christie). Born in the close-knit community of Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Paul’s life was one marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a love for the great outdoors.

An avid outdoorsman, Paul found solace in the tranquility of nature. He loved to fish and hunt, passions that he shared with fellow members of the Aliquippa Bucktail Sportsman Club. His commitment to the club was evident in his service as a director and his membership in the Midland Sportsman Club.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 3rd at 10 a.m. at St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Township where he was a member. Military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit following the mass.  Burial will take place on Thursday, Sept 5th at 1:30 pm at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville.

The family has suggested memorial contributions be made in Paul’s memory, if desired to the Beaver County Special Unit, c/o American Legion Post #580, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca, PA, 15061.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.

Robert F. Morlan II (1944-2024)

Robert F. Morlan II, 80, of Midland and formerly of Beaver Falls, passed away on August 26, 2024 at Lakeview Personal Care Home.

He was born on August 2, 1944, a son of the late James Arthur and Jennie A. (Gatewood) Morlan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Morlan; two nephews, Robert L. Atkins Jr., Sherman L. Kirkland Jr., and a brother-in-law, Sherman L. Kirkland Sr. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Samuel Beauford of Rochester, two grandchildren, Robert C. Morlan and Marra A. Walker; one great-granddaughter; his former wife and friend, Carolyn Kloos of Beaver, brother, David Morlan; five sisters, Sandra (Robert) Atkins, Deborah Morlan, Betty Kirkland, Karen Collier, Ruth Rouse; his best friend, Don Riley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran stationed in Germany and a Railroad Engineer for 35 years for Conrail and later Norfolk Southern.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday September 3 from 5 P.M. until the time of service at 6:30 P.M. in the CORLESS-KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls, where full military honors will be held.

Interment will be private.

Darlene Lou Carberry (1951-2024)

Darlene Lou Carberry, 73, passed away in Clarion, Pennsylvania on August 26, 2024.

She was born on April 28, 1951, in Brookville, a daughter of the late Clayton and Enid (Strouse) Emerick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Carberry, and a sister, Marlene Brady.

Darlene is survived by her 3 children, Andrea Gerber, James C. Carberry, and Jeff Carberry; a brother, Don Emerick; ten grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Hollis M. Batey (1960-2024)

Hollis M. Batey, 64, of Coraopolis, passed away on August 28, 2024, in AHN Wexford Hospital, after a lengthy battle with lung issues.
He was born on June 21, 1960, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Hollis and Virginia (Case) Batey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Parkinson. He is survived by his companion, Jackie Smith; daughters, Jamie Batey and Nichole (Eric) Patton; son, Hollis (Mercedes) Batey III; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca Carmichael and Linda (Lynn) Monroe; niece, Renee (Shawn) McGinnis; nephew, Steven Gallant and a great-nephew, Jordan Weeks.

By trade, Hollis worked as an Electrician for 40 years. He was a US Airforce Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 924. Caring and compassionate, Hollis was always willing to step in and help anyone who needed it.

According to Hollis’ wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.

Carolyn Maxwell (1935-2024)

Carolyn Maxwell, 88, of Beaver, passed away on August 25, 2024 surrounded by family at her home.
She was born on December 11, 1935 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Walter A. Woods and Ella Woods-Carroll. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, James D. Maxwell, Sr., daughter-in-law, Kim Gutting and brothers, Walter E. Woods, Homer F. Woods, and Donald M. Woods.
She is survived by her sons, J. Daniel Maxwell II of the Virgin Islands, and Dennis P. (Tobi) Maxwell of Mars; daughter, Erin (Glenn) Niedergall of Ravenna, Ohio; grandchildren, Brent (Christy) Niedergall, of North Carolina, Cara (Brandon) Stout, of Utah, Lauren Van Buskirk, J. D. Maxwell, III and Quinn Ferrence of Mars; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Harry) Humbert; and brother, Paul D. Woods.
Carolyn was active in her community, attending numerous bible studies and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and loved exploring local garage and yard sales with her favorite sister-in-law, Dottie Woods.

Diana Lee Rape (1944-2024)

Diana Lee Rape, 79, of New Sewickley Township passed away on August 28, 2024 at her home. She was born on November 4, 1944 in Rochester, the daughter of the late Edward R. and Florence (Johnston) Weigel. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Duane J. Rape, one daughter and son-in-law, Deana R. Rape and her husband Keith Ditmore of New Sewickley Township, two grandsons, Colten Ditmore of New Sewickley Township and Levi Ditmore of Henderson, Kentucky, a sister, Marylouise Chandler of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Susan Rape of New Sewickley Township, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Diana was a retired employee of Freedom Valvoline of Freedom and had been a past employee of the former Sears and Roebuck Company where she worked in Human Resources. She was a member of the Unionville United Methodist Church.  Friends will be received on Saturday, August 31 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. in the William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester where services will be held on Sunday, September 1 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Alan Morrison presiding. A private interment will be held Tuesday, September 3 at Oak Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery of New Sewickley Township.

Thomas M. Bowser (1942-2024)

Thomas M. Bowser, 81, of Center Township, passed away on August 27, 2024, after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was born on September 30, 1942.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Clara (Black) Yoho, his parents-in-law, Ed and AnnaMae Becker. A son, Tommy Bowser, a daughter, Jana Perich, and an infant son. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jeanne Bowser, his children, Sherry (Bill) Cottage, Janine (Matt) Sneed, Jakki (JaQuan) Pennington, Jocelyn (Dennis Miller) Bowser, former-son-in-law, Chris Scabora, grandchildren, Billy (Mallory) Cottage, Brandy (Thomas) Brown, Addi Bowser, Jaxon and Maddox Sneed, Jionna Scabora, and Jiovanni and Juju Pennington, great-grandchildren, BC, Ophelia, and Ranger, brothers and sisters, Isabel Bowser, Jeannie (Larry) Richael, George (Erma) Yoho, and Bill (June) Roho. Sisters-in-law, Vicki (Adrian Butter) Becker, Bernadette (John Sr.) Girata and a brother-in-law, Edwin (Anne) Becker, nieces and nephews, John (Megan), Michael (Rachel), Christine (Jimmy), and Miles and Juda, his former wife, Linda Whippo, special neighbors, Mark and Julie Oresconin, and friends Bob and Sue Frey. Thomas worked at St. Joe and Zinc Corp. and was the founder of Bowser’s Restaurant along with his son, Tommy. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He cherished the moments spent watching the Steelers with his son-in-law Bill. He had a passion for bowling and golf, often spending his leisure time perfecting his swing or aiming for a strike. Tom also found joy in puzzling with his daughter Sherry. He eagerly anticipated and looked forward to attending PGA tournaments with his brother-in-law Adrian, where they bonded over the shared love for the sport. Tom was a beloved neighbor, known for his friendly waves as he sat in his driveway, greeting everyone with a warm smile. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Tom’s legacy of love, family, and sportsmanship will forever remain with his family.

Paul Wooley (Passed August 26, 2024)

Paul “Curley” Wooley passed peacefully on August 26, 2024.

He was preceded in death by family members Lynn Stahl and Vic Stahl, and his three brothers Jim, Bob and Herb.

He is survived by his sons and daughters in law Mike and Tracey Wooley, Jay and Catie Wooley and Victor Stahl; daughters Adrienne Wooley and Becket Stahl; grandchildren Olivia and Kaelin Wooley and Donovan Stahl; and his sister Arlene Hill.

Paul was a gentle and social man with many friends. He loved his large family and was our greatest asset, doing a thousand small kindnesses to make everyone’s life easier. He was so very proud of all of us and his greatest happiness was in spending time with us.

Paul spent most of his life in his beloved Beaver Falls area, then moved to Beaver and loved it as well. You could set your watch by his twice daily trips to The Office in Chippewa to banter with his friends. He spent his career at the Beaver Falls Post Office and was known by all.

Thomas L. Patterson (1945-2024)

Thomas L. Patterson, 79, of Darlington, passed away on August 25, 2024, in Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born on February 25, 1945, in Beaver Falls, a son the late James C. and Bernice I. Patterson. He is survived by his four children, Grace Kimberlee Patterson, Mary Elisabeth (Robert) Norkus, Thomas L. Patterson Jr, Eunice Jane Maxwell (Jim); three siblings, Ronnie (Judy) Patterson, Sheila Fattore, and Penne (Nick) Colao and eight grandchildren, Sarah (Spencer), Victoria, Elizabeth, Claire, Lily, MaryKate, Carolina, and James; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Thomas loved being outdoors. He grew up working on his grandma and grandpa Owens’ farm and enjoyed being a horseman. He had a passion for hunting and loved to run his hunting dogs. He was a devoted union electrician for the IBEW local 712. He was a member of the NRA- National Rifle Association. He was a Republican, who supported Donald J. Trump; and was excited to vote for him for the third time.

Friends and family will be received on Friday August 30 at 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

A Private interment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls.
