Delores Ann Anderson (1933-2024)

Delores Ann Anderson, 91, of Beaver Falls, passed away on October 31, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver. 

She was born on October 30, 1933, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Foley) Nicholson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Anderson Jr. and her sons Robert Dale and Frank Michael Anderson. 

She is survived by her daughter Jackie Church, grandchildren: Matthew Thompson (Lindsay), Adam Thompson (Claudia), Melissa Bidlack (Jay), Jenna Sinha (Shayan), Jack Anderson (Leah); great-grandchildren: Kane, Isaiah, Micah, Mia, Ava, Alex, Abigale, Evelyn, Logan, Vir, McKenna and Jordyn; beloved son-in-law, Mark Church, daughter-in-law, Janice Anderson, life-long friend, Sandy Weckerly, and close friends, Ron Tomasula, Jody Wade, and Regina Sariochek. She was Aunt Dee to several nieces and nephews.  

In 1949, she married Jack Anderson Jr. of Beaver Falls, and they had three children, Jackie, Dale and Michael. 

Delores worked in hospitals all her life and retired as a team lead from the sterile processing unit at Heritage Valley medical center after 30 years. 

She was an animal lover known for taking her dog for walks around Beaver Falls and for taking in any strays that wandered around her neighborhood. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and volunteering with the American Legion, where she held the office of chaplain. She was a devoted Catholic, who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, she was a member of Holy Family church. 

Family and friends will be welcomed on Friday, November 8th, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m., in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton, with Pastor Bill Anzevino officiating. 

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Broadhead Road Center Township, Pa 15001. 

Janet M. Primo (Passed on October 31st, 2024)

Janet M. (LoFaso) Primo, 77, a lifelong resident of Monaca, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Rochester, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lena (Bonanno) LoFaso. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Frank Primo, three children, Michelle (Daniel) Cronin, Anthony (Christine) Primo, and Angela Benson, her grandchildren: Emily (Alec) Ingros, Madelyn, Benjamin, and Grace Cronin, Conner and Matthew Benson, Madison, Abigail, and Jacob Primo, two brothers, Sam (Linda) LoFaso and Tom (Anna) LoFaso, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Janet was a wonderful mother who was always there when she was needed the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Professionally, Janet held various roles in catering, food services management, and furniture sales. Janet’s love for her Savior and Lord Jesus was a major influence in how she lived out her life. As a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca, she found solace and strength in her community of faith. Her commitment to her church extended beyond attendance. She served as a CCD teacher, lector, Eucharistic minister and after the death of her grandson, Janet became a guiding force in the Grief Share program at both St. John’s and later at St Francis Cabrini Catholic Churches. Janet’s understanding and empathy provided a source of comfort, healing, and friendship for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Her ability to listen and her willingness to share her own experiences made Janet a saving grace to many. Her legacy of care and support will be remembered by those she helped during their most challenging times.

Janet’s influence will continue to be felt. Her love for her family, her passion for helping others, and her deep faith have left an indelible mark on the world. The family will now commence to fighting over her recipes for her homemade sauce, meatballs, noodles, and pizzelles.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.

Hilliary Z. (Lawson) Coe (1974-2024)

Hilliary Z. (Lawson) Coe, 50, passed away on October 30, 2024, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1974, a daughter of Richard Lawson of Monaca and Deborah Lawson of Zelienople. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sons Jackson (Sonny) and Samuel Coe, her sisters, Shannon (Steve) Pfeuffer of New Sewickley Township and Summer (Chad) Kirkpatrick of Ellwood City, her lifelong best friend, Joanna Creegan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

When she was 6 years old, Hilliary’s family moved to New Sewickley, Pennsylvania where she lived a majority of her life. She graduated from Freedom Area High School in 1992, then pursued her Associate degree from Robert Morris University. Hilliary worked as a realtor, she enjoyed flipping houses and she was also a bookkeeper for Rock Concrete and O’Connor & Co. Above all else, she was a devoted and loving Mother to her two sons. They were her pride and joy. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Hilliary was always up for an adventure. From camping, attending rock concerts, to many road trips, she was always on the go, making new friends, connecting with old ones, and gathering with family along the way. She had a strong, determined will and never backed down from any challenges she faced. She loved her family, both near and far, fiercely. Hilliary will lovingly and forever be remembered by all those whose lives she touched with her kind, courageous, adventurous spirit.  

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at a viewing on Wednesday, November 6th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, November 7th from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton. 

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery of Freedom. 

Cora Frances Campbell (Passed on November 1st, 2024)

Cora Frances Campbell, 92, of Center Township passed away on November 1, 2024 at her Center Township home. She was born in Bald Hill of Greene County, Cora was a daughter of the late Walter Leslie and Goldie Mae (Lang) King. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Campbell, Sr., a grandson, Donald Campbell Jr., and three siblings, Betty Garrett, Evelyn Seery, and Sonny King.  

She is survived by her brother, Tom King, her daughter Delores (Terry) Malekovic of Center Township and three sons, James (Diane) Campbell of Florida, Richard (Joyce) Campbell of Florida, and Donald (Margaret) Campbell of Potter Township, her eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. 

Cora worked for many years of dedicated service at the dietary department at Aliquippa Hospital. She was a woman of faith and a member of the Methodist community. A sports enthusiast, Cora’s passion for athletics was evident to all who knew her. She reveled in the excitement of baseball seasons and was an ardent supporter of football, cheering on her favorite teams with vigor, and her admiration for Tiger Woods and his skill of golf was evident. 

Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 6th from 5 p.m. until the time of service 7 p.m. at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue , Monaca. Reverend Donald Scandrol will officiate. Private interment will take place on Thursday, November 7th at Woodlawn Cemetery. 

The family has suggested memorial contributions made, if desired to UPMC Children’s Hospital or Special Olympics.

Phyllis Rae Miller (1930-2024)

Phyllis Rae Miller, 94, of Raccoon Township, passed away on October 30, 2024 in Concordia Villa St. Joseph. She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on March 30, 1930, a daughter of the late John and Thelma McLaughlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert M. Miller, a grandson, Clinton Wade, and seven siblings: Jack McLaughlin, Barbette Ferry, Oliver McLaughlin, Robert “Blue Jay” McLaughlin, Patti Byers, Judie Retallack, and Jerry McLaughlin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah & Michael Drake and Margaret & J.C. Redden, her son, Lennie & Sara Beth Miller, five grandchildren: Lee (Corrie) Miller, Michelle (Dustin) Addison, Corey Miller, Andrew Drake, and Ashley (Les) Beldo; seven great grandchildren: Brooks, Aaron, Lia Miller, Shelbi and Kinzi Addison, Logan and Wyatt Drake; a brother-in-law, Bruce Retallack, two sisters-in-law, Norma McLaughlin and Katie Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was a loving wife, loving mother, loving grandmother and a loving Great Grandma Georgia. Her first love was the Lord and her many churches in Pennsylvania and Georgia. She was actively involved with church activities, both physically and financially. She was a youth group leader and a Sunday school teacher who held small groups in her home.  She even continued talking to residents in the Villa about the Lord. She loved to clean and entertain in her home.

Friends will be received on Sunday, November 3rd from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 4th at 11 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant EP Church, 846 State Route 18 Aliquippa.

The family wishes to thank the FontBonne Unit at Concordia Villa St. Joseph for the special care given to Phyllis for the two years she lived there.

D. Michael Cerilli (Passed on October 29th, 2024)

D. Michael Cerilli, 67, of New Brighton, passed away on October 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was raised in Monaca and was the husband of Carol L. Gibbs Cerilli for forty-seven years. He is survived by his sons, Brian and his wife, Sarah Cerilli and Scott Cerilli, his five grandchildren, Emily, Gavin, Isabel, Domenick, and Alaina, as well as his extended family.

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 7th from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon at the New Brighton Free Methodist Church, 925 11th Street, New Brighton. His pastor, Reverend Steve Forsythe will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired, to the Beaver County Humane Society or the New Brighton Free Methodist Church.

Adyson Olivia Franz (2007-2024)

Adyson Olivia Franz, 17, of Hopewell Township, passed away in her home on October 28, 2024 after fighting a very rare and aggressive form of bone cancer for just over one year. Despite one struggle after another, Ady did not let her cancer define her. She was born on October 12, 2007 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Melanie Yakemowicz and Joseph Franz. She was preceded in death by a grandmother Cyndie Carlson. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Brooklyn Franz, step brothers: Marcus McGill, D.J. McGill, and Ryan (Allie Csaszar) Yakemowicz; step sister, Caley Yakemowicz, grandparents: Richard & Alice “Bonnie” Carlson and Joseph R. & Linda Franz; aunt, Christina Baker, uncle, Michael (Ashley) Franz, cousins: Owen, Shane, & Caleb Baker and Blake & Briella Franz; a great grandmother, Rita Grimm, along with numerous great aunts and uncles and family members. She is also survived by her beloved animals, Rocco and all of the horses at Blue Ribbon Farms, especially Echo.

Adyson was a well accomplished equestrian rider. She has been riding horses at Blue Ribbon Farms since the age of four. She has attended and qualified for hundreds of horse show competitions while winning hundreds of ribbons at those shows.  Those more notable shows included the multi-PA State Horse Shows and National Open Horse Shows.  She was active in 4H and a member of the Hopewell Unified Bocce Team. She was a counselor at Blue Ribbon Farms Little Farmers Camp. She had fun going to local hockey games and Christian concerts. She had a great sense of humor, she was extremely independent showing great leadership skills.  She enjoyed traveling with her family and going to the beach like Marco Island, Deep Creek Maryland and camping at Woodland Park Campground.  She attended Genesis Church in Hopewell Township. Adyson’s faith was strong and never wavered.

Friends will be received on Friday, November 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at Genesis Church, 111 Cherryton Street, Aliquippa.

Melvin “Mel” F. Rizzo (1943-2024)

Melvin “Mel” F. Rizzo, 81, of Conway, passed away on October 29, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 18, 1943, the son of the late Melvin A. and Marceline Rizzo. He is survived by his cherished wife of 50 years, Janice (Trella) Rizzo, his children, Brent Rizzo and Michele Rizzo Seneca, his brother, Edward (Vicki) Rizzo, his grandson, Patsy Seneca III, his special sister-in-law, Joanne Trella,  as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog, Stella. A proud veteran, Melvin served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery. He later enjoyed a 24-year career as a clerk with the United States Postal Service. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. Melvin will be deeply missed by his loving family. A military funeral service with honors will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Raymond F. Ulizio (1962-2024)

Raymond F. Ulizio, 62, of Harmony Township, passed away on October 27, 2024. He was born on October 12th, 1962, the son of the late Raymond J. and Lillian Ulizio. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his dog, “Little Man.” 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Ulizio, his daughter, Christina Ulizio, his 2 siblings,  Mary Lee Ulizio and Darlene Hodge, a niece, and his furry companion, David. 

Raymond worked for Heritage Valley Hospital of Sewickley for forty-two years as a radiology aide, diagnostic imager, and hospital escort. He was an avide musician who enjoyed bicycling, woodworking, supporting all Pittsburgh sports teams, and being a fan of the band KISS. 

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 3, from 2-4 P.M. at Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge. 

Eugene Scott Ackerman (1938-2024)

Eugene Scott Ackerman, 86, passed away on October 26th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 3, 1938, in Leetsdale, the son of the late Frederick and Emma Ackerman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixteen years, Irene, his siblings and their spouses: George A. Ackerman, Francis (Harold) Jones, Eleanor (Emil) Cook and Frederick A. (Mercedes) Ackerman Jr; and nephews David Jones and Brian Cook. He is survived by his son, Lee (Teri) Ackerman of Slippery Rock, daughter, Leslie VanDyke of Baden, son-in-law, Kenneth VanDyke of Baden, step-daughter, Denise (Joe) Baldwin of Jerome, six grandchildren, who were the light of his life: Christian VanDyke, George Ackerman, Emma Van Dyke, Maryann Ackerman, Keith Baldwin and Kasia Baldwin; and one step-grandson, Travis (Lexy) Miller along with several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Leetsdale High School, Eugene joined the U.S. Air Force and served for six years being stationed in Wyoming, Illinois, Korea and finally at the Pentagon.

Following his service in the Air Force, Eugene had a lengthy career in the Transportation industry as a Rate Clerk, Shipping Manager and Logistics Specialist. Following his retirement, he enjoyed driving an airport shuttle and meeting many interesting passengers.

His hobbies and interests included bowling and breakfast with friends, golfing with his granddaughter Maryann, having lunch with his grandson Christian, fishing and hunting with his son Lee and grandson George, and special visits with Emma.  He also enjoyed traveling having made several trips to Alaska and numerous trips to the American West. Constantly on the go, he found a reason to be out every day.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 1st from 4-8 P.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, November 2nd at 10 A.M. with Pastor Thomas Moog officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors.
