Carl B. Wellman (1945-2024)

Carl B. Wellman, a beloved husband, father, and veteran, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, at the age of 79 at Guardian Healthcare in Beaver Falls, PA. Born on January 28, 1945, in Midkiff, Lincoln County, West Virginia, Carl was the cherished son of Leonard and Ruby (Nelson) Wellman.

He spent over five decades in Rochester, Pennsylvania, where he built a rich and fulfilling life. Carl dedicated a full career to the Eaton Corporation (formerly Westinghouse) before retiring in 2000.

Carl had a passion for the outdoors, finding solace in hunting and fishing. He was also known as the neighborhood handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand in his garage. If you needed your lawnmower fixed Carl was the go-to person.

In 1967, Carl married the love of his life, Norma Haag Wellman, with whom he shared 47 years of unwavering love and companionship until her passing. Together, they raised their daughter, Carla Fetherston (Matthew), who brought them immense joy and pride.

Carl served his country with honor and distinction in Qui Nhõn, Vietnam, where he served with the 134th Quarter Master Company. His service was marked by bravery and selflessness, qualities that defined him throughout his life.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Delaney and Ted, sister-in-law Carol Wellman, nephews Gary and Pat Wellman, and his beloved wife Norma. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Carla, son-in-law Matthew, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, and his loyal furry companion, Hardcase.

Friends will be received in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009, from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. In honor of Carl and his love for flannel, the family kindly requests that all attendees wear their most comfortable flannel shirt or jacket.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies,1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017, where Carl will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Norma. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Terry M. Minton (1947-2024)

Terry Marie Murphy Minton, 76, of Brighton Township, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home, with her loving husband by her side, on March 15, 2024.
Born on July 30, 1947, in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie Mazar Murphy. Along with her parents, Terry is preceded in death by her best friends, Joanne Petrella and Nancy Wells.
Terry will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Robert Minton; son, Scott (Tammy) Minton; daughters, Shelby (Allan) Lewis, and Kelly Minton; sisters, Linda (Walter) Harrigan, and Elizabeth Murphy; grandchildren, Rachelle (Cody) Jones, Katie (Colton) Cluck, Nikki (Ray) Liggett, and Jeremiah (Melissa) Schwarz; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Stevie, Glenn, Stacie, Rosie, and RayLynn; and numerous extended family members, and friends. Terry was Catholic by faith, and had worked in retail and jewelry sales for Cirelli Jewelers. She loved her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling with her husband Bob, as well as seeing the world with her sister Linda, and many cousins and friends.

Edward L. “Eddie” Stowers (1952-2024)

Edward “Eddie” L. Stowers, 71, of Ohioville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the comfort of his home.

Born on December 12, 1952, in Griffithsville, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Edward and Maybell (Patton) Stowers.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary P. Stowers; his siblings, Clinton Stowers, Jimmy Stowers, Susan Stowers, and Joyce Lamantia; his K-9 companions, Zoe, Ace, and Missy Sue.

Eddie is survived by his children, Mandy (Robert) Meyers and Ryan (Kylie) Woods; grandchildren, Leigha Ours, Christian Seevers, Jamie Ours, Jr., Tyler Woods, Dylan Seevers, Kaylee Seevers, Trace Woods, and Skyler Ours; a great-granddaughter, EverLeigh Ours; his sisters, Brenda (James) Kelly and Deborah Beatrice; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Eddie had retired from Valley Burial Vault Company following many years of service.  He was Christian by faith. He enjoyed sitting on his porch enjoying a warm beer.

Friends will be received on Thursday, March 21st from 3PM to 7PM in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Penn Ave., New Brighton.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, March 22nd at 10AM.

In accordance with his wishes, Eddie will be cremated following services.

 

Leona (Mitchell) Sallade (1938-2024)

Leona (Mitchell) Sallade, 85, of Beaver Falls passed away Friday, March 15, 2024.

She cleaned and operated the Lark Motel for 15 years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan and enjoyed being at home and working in her flower garden.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. DeWayne B. Sallade, 2020. They had two daughters, Rev. Robin (Bruce) Olczak of Beaver Falls and Kim (Bill) Holcomb of West Pittsburgh, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Joanne M. (House) Eppley (1929-2024)

Joanne M. (House) Eppley, 94, of West Mayfield, died Saturday March 16, 2024.

Also lovingly known as “Joy”, she was born on May 26, 1929, in Rochester, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Eppley, son Thomas Eppley, granddaughter Jenna (Eppley) Clarke, great-grandson Liam Clarke, and two brothers Gerald and Larry House.

She is survived by her sons and a daughter James (Kathy) Eppley of White Township; Roger (Leigh) Eppley of Daugherty Township; Ryan Eppley of Pulaski Township; and Jeanine (Frank, Sr.)Bathgate of West Mayfield, grandchildren, Jamie Hill, Frank Bathgate, Jr., Nick (Megan) Bathgate, Leah Bathgate, and Ben (Danette) Palmer, great grandchildren, Brooke (Tyler) Rohm, Justin, Adaline, Jonathan, Madelyn, Reagan, Easton, Harlan, Saxon, and Alayna, a great-great grandson, Troy, a sister, Ruth (Bill) Seybert, and sisters-in-law, Judith House and Delores (Lawrence) Phillips and several nieces and nephews.

Joy was the daughter of the late John and Grace (Sanderbeck) House.  She was a member of St. Augustine Parish of Beaver Falls. She retired as a waitress of 40 years from the Corner Tavern.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801-4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010, where prayers will be recited Thursday at 9:20 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Augustine Parish, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, PA.

Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery of Big Beaver Borough.

Mary Markovina (Markovich) Ulinski (1932-2024)

Mary Markovina (Markovich) Ulinski, 91, a resident of Beaver Meadows, Brighton Township, and formerly of Baden, passed away on March 15, 2024. She was born on July 22,1932 in West Aliquippa and is the daughter of the late Betty (Bosijlka) and Jovo Markovina. n addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stanley and her much loved daughter, Damia Ulinski, brothers: George, Nick, Sam, Mitch, Russell and Stanley, and sisters Mildred Durkos and Katherine Simoni. Mary is survived by her daughter Lisa (Michael) Wilson, the sunshine of her life, grandson, Dr. Brandon (Halie) Wilson of Hartland, Vermont, and her sister Dorothy “Babe” (Charles) Davis.
Mary was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church. She honorably served our country in the Korean War.
The family would like to thank the staff of Beaver Meadows for all the care given to Mary. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19th, from 5pm to 8pm at the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc., 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa. Pomen (blessing service) will be held in the funeral home at 7pm Tuesday. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, March 20th at 11am at St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, officiated by Father Njegos Perkovic. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Aliquippa.
The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

David S. Ruckert (1962-2024)

David S. Ruckert, 61, of New Brighton, died unexpectedly on March 15,2024 in UPMC Montefiore Hospital after an extended illness.  He was the son of the late Warren and Faye (Headland) Ruckert and was born September 10,1962 in Rochester, PA.

He is survived by his wife Veronica Ruckert and stepchildren Chris, Josh, Angela and Joe, four grandchildren, brother Terry (Susan) Ruckert , sister Karen(Michael) Schetka, nieces Christine Ruckert and Courtney(Ewen) Leach, nephews Shaun Schetka, Jeffrey Ruckert and Jaxson Leach.

David graduated from Freedom Area High School. David was an avid University of Pittsburgh football fan as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.  He also followed his nieces and nephews high school sports careers.  As a young adult he played on several slow pitch softball teams for many years.  He enjoyed gardening and repairing Gravely tractors with his stepson Chris.  Family gatherings will not be the same without his lively discussions about sports and other subjects.

Per David’s request, his body will be cremated and there will not be a public viewing.

Mark E. Monac (1967-2024)

Mark E. Monac, 56, of New Brighton, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born November 19, 1967, in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was the son of the late Philip and Judith Tanner Monac. Mark was preceded in death by his close friends, Craig Rawl, Bob Roush, Paul Short and step daughter Jackie Rock.
Mark attended the Church of the Nazarene, New Brighton, PA. Mark loved fishing and playing basketball.
Mark is survived by one daughter and son in law, Kaylin and Chad Carpenter, New Brighton, three sons and daughter in law, Vance and Lexi Shuler of Koppel, Dawson Monac of New Castle, Noah Hanshaw of Vanport, three granddaughters, Korra Carpenter, Nova Shuler, Emma Shuler, one grandson, Xavier Bacon, four sisters and two brothers in law, Charlotte Monac, Julie and Robert Merriman, Monica and Don Shuler, all of New Brighton, Angel Chamberlain of East Liverpool, two brothers and three sisters in law, Anthony and Leighann Monac, Rochester, Mario and Gretchen Monac of New Brighton, Conny Monac of Beaver, one uncle and aunt, Stanley and Linda Tanner of New Brighton, a special cousin, James Tanner of Beaver, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday, March 18, 2024, from 4-7 in The William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester, PA. , where a service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 11 A.M., officiating will be Rev. Donald MacNeil. Interment will follow at Beaver Cemetery.
Family wishes memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
The family wishes to thank the nurses of Good Samaritan Hospice and his niece, Kathy Hummel, for their care and comfort given to Mark.

 

Charles “Chuckie” F. Uebelacker (1960-2024)

Charles F. Uebelacker, Jr., 63, of Beaver Falls, passed away at home, Friday, March 15, 2024.

Born June 13, 1960, in New Brighton, he is the son of the late Charles F. and Arnetta J. (Haswell) Uebelacker, Sr.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Grimm and his brother-in-law and best friend, Tom Balser.

Chuckie is survived by his siblings, Vicky Balser, Beaver Falls, Veronica (Michael) Fusco, Beaver Falls, Tammi Uebelacker, Patterson Twp, several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, and his best friend, Reed Barto.

Chuckie was a member of Local 833 and was a member of the New Brighton Croatian Club.  He enjoyed camping, playing horseshoes and cards.  He treasured his family.  His love for them knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent together, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the New Brighton Croatian Club, 820 3rd Ave, New Brighton.

Victor Martinez Jr. (1935-2024)

Victor Martinez, Jr., 88, of Vanport Township, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Born May 12, 1935 in Smith Township, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Victor and Sylvia Fornash Martinez, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Alex Watazychyn. Victor will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Mary V. Kovalesky Martinez; daughters, Theresa (Rich) Stewart and Victoria (Timothy) Regrut; brother, Raymond (Jackie) Martinez; sisters, June Watazychyn and Phylis (Lee) Breyer; grandchildren, Richard (Ashley) Stewart, Jr., Kimberly (Tim Martin) Stewart, Jessica (Zac Patterson) Regrut and Timothy (Tylyn) Regrut; along with great-grandchildren, Harper Patterson, Chloe Stewart and Aubrey Martin.

A proud veteran of the U.S Army, Victor went on to have a long career with both LTV Steel and as an armed security guard at the Shippingport Nuclear Power Station. He was a member of the Midland Sportsman’s Club and St. Francis Cabrini Church of Center Township.
