Dona L. Eckman (1937-2025)

Dona L. Eckman, 87, of Beaver Falls, passed away on January 13th, 2025 at Providence Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Beaver Falls on November 15th, 1937, the daugther of the late Raymond and Eleanor Eckman. She is survived by her three children, son, Scott (Doreen) Hezlep, daughters Cheryl (Richard) Winkle and Susan (Joseph) Kantz, six grandchildren: James (Cassie) Hezlep, Kevin (Stephanie) Hezlep, Jason (Heather) Winkle, Lynnsey (Tony) Savina, Abigail (Benjamin) Helmick and Adam Kantz and eight great-grandchildren: Emma, Scarlett, Sophie, Aubree, Ryleigh, Jameson, Jaxson, Eliana and one on the way.

Dona was a very loving daughter, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always put everyone before herself. She was a woman of many talents. Dona was the head majorette throughout high school in Beaver Falls, a bank teller, worked for Schmuckers Jelly, a cashier supervisor at K-Mart, and an entrepreneur, who owned and operated her own business for 20 years as a dog groomer.

In her retirement, she became an avid puzzle builder, enjoyed making crafts, but most of all, Dona loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A public visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19th at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, January 20th at 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. David S. Oyler officiating at Corless-Kunselman Fruneral Services, LLC 3801 4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, followed with a private interment at Grandview Cemetery.

Carol Ann Robinson (1937-2025)

Carol Ann Robinson, 87, of Center Township, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on January 9th, 2025.

She was born in Sewickley on December 23rd, 1937, the daughter of the late Steven and Catherine (Gregarus) Hettish. She is survived by her husband, Lesley C. Robinson, two sons, Timothy (Cynthia) Robinson and Ronald (Monica) Robinson, four grandchildren: Amy Robinson, Abigail Robinson, Sean (Renee) Robinson, and Ryan Robinson; along with two great-grandchildren, Connor and Chace.

Carol was a sales associate at Sears and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, part of Mary, Queen of Saints Parish. Carol fiercely loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her humor and quick wit always lit up a room. She will be deeply missed.

All services for Carol were private along with an entombment at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to the branch of Gabauer Funeral Homes.

Mary Angela Castelli (1930-2025)

Mary Angela Castelli, 94, of Hamilton, New Jersey, formerly of Midland, passed away on January 13, 2025 surrounded by her loving daughters.
She was born in Midland on July 6th, 1930, the daughter of the late Bianca and Joseph Pichelli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, (Herk), and her 2 brothers, Louie and Ovidio, (Vejo).Mary is survived by her dearest and loving sister and brother-in-Law, Lucy and Raymond Presutti whose love, support and assistance were always there through the years and appreciated far beyond words could express. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Teresa and Daun Wells of Hamilton, New Jersey, Gina and John Zapicchi of Trenton, New Jersey, and Terrance and Denise Castelli of Indianapolis, Indiana, along with her grandchildren, Justin (Angela), Kristin (Devin), Jessica and Daniella, her five great-grandchildren: Roman, Leo, Trevin, Kaia and Silas; her dearest Neighbors from the “Hill,” Frances (Camaioni) and Goldie (Felekey) and all her dearest friends and her numerous special nieces and nephews.

Mary had been a faithful member of both Saint Blaise Church of Midland, part of St. Augustine Parish and the St. Anthony Club. Although Mary moved to be with her daughters Teresa and Gina in 2007, she never lost her love for her beloved home of Midland.

A thank you goes out to everyone at the Juniper Village of Hamilton, New Jersey and Serenity Hospice Care who provided exceptional care and attention to her during her time with them.
Friends will be received on Sunday, January 19th, from 3-6 P.M. in the Schwerha- Noll Funeral Home, 629 Midland Ave, Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 20th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Blaise Church, 772 Ohio Avenue, Midland. Roberta Jean “Jitters” Blackwood (1941-2025)

Roberta Jean “Jitters” Blackwood, 83, of Chippewa Township, passed away on January 12th, 2025 at Franciscan Manor. She was born in Beaver Falls on April 8th, 1941, a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Koehler) Scranton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Michael Scranton and Patrick Scranton, who remained forever in her heart. She is survived by her sons, Richard Blackwood and Michael (Shelley) Blackwood, grandchildren: Zinnia Blackwood, Dahlia Blackwood, Brett (Heather) Blackwood, and Abigail (Derek) Kenniston; and great-grandchildren: Gianrocco Santucci, Giovanna Santucci, Olive Blackwood, Karter Kenniston, and Layton Kenniston; her brother, Robert (Gaye) Scranton, sisters, Lila (Wayne) Bober and Robin (Tim) McGraw, sisters-in-law, Sandra Scranton and Cheryl Scranton, her dear and lifelong friend Kathy Topper and the father of her sons, W. Richard Blackwood.

Roberta lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
Affectionately known as “Jitters” for her boundless energy and vibrant personality, Roberta was celebrated for her quick wit and clever comebacks, bringing laughter to every situation. Her humor was matched only by her kindness and resilience, making her an unforgettable presence in the lives of those who knew her. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of the Chippewa United Presbyterian Church and took comfort in the promise of being reunited with her loved ones and her Heavenly Father.
Roberta graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1959 and later attended the Community College of Beaver County, where she studied accounting and bookkeeping and was employed in that regard with various companies in the area.
She had a flair for decorating and a keen eye for antiques, hobbies that brought her great joy. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and in recent years, wintering in Las Vegas alongside her late companion, David Reda.
Roberta’s family will remember her for her unwavering tenacity, infectious laughter, and the joy she brought to their lives. In honor of her wishes, no formal services will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.

Belva Herrmann (1932-2025)

Belva Herrmann, 92, of North Sewickley Township, passed away on January 12th, 2025 at Cambridge Village.

She was born in Economy Township on January 23rd, 1932, a daughter of the late Harry Paul and Ethel Pearl Stange. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Herrmann, grandson Arthur Herrmann, and sister Annabelle Kelley. She is survived by her son Fred (Patricia) Herrmann, daughters, Carol (Frank) Kunkel, and Sandy (Andrew) Sprankle, grandchildren: Katherine (David Tockman) Kunkel, Robert (Mickey) Kunkel, Samantha (Devin) Walsh, Joetta (Benjamin) Vroman, Tabitha (Travis) LeTourneau, Annette (Austin) Percy; along with nine great-grandchildren.

Belva spent her life taking care of her three children. She was a devoted mother and enjoyed quality time with her children as they grew up, making wonderful memories along the way.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16th, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday January 17th at 10 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. at Corless-Kunselman Funeral Services, LLC, 3801 4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, followed by a private interment at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park of Rochester.

The family would like to thank Alyssa Crispeno and Beth Britton from Heartland Hospice for their compassion and care. The family would also like to express gratitude to the entire staff of the Cambridge Village Memory Care Unit during her time there.

 

Darryl Paul Zdenek (1942-2025)

Darryl Paul Zdenek, 82, passed away on January 7th, 2025.
He was born in Nyack, New York on May 18th, 1942, the son of the late Ola and Otto Zdenek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older sister Barbara Aventuro. He is survived by two sons, Eric (Lisa) Zdenek and Michael (Erika) Zdenek, two grandchildren, Miles and Ava, two younger sisters, Karen (Paul) Neilson and Melissa (Dennis) Danewalski and their spouses.
Darryl was a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and received an Honorable Discharge from service in the United States Navy. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony Mastrofransesco Funeral Home Inc., 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa.

Virginia Ann Wolf (1963-2025)

Virginia Ann Wolf, 61, of New Castle, passed away on January 13th, 2025, at Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of New Castle.

She was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on September 22nd, 1963, a daughter of the late Robert and Wilma (Wright) Coburn. She is survived by her children, Joshua and Cody Gault, Lynn Adams, Megan (Joseph) McGovern, her sister, Donna Gumpf, caregiver, Shawn Stimmill, many grandchildren, a great-grandchild and numerous cousins. Virginia was a wife, a loving mother and a devoted homemaker.

In accordance with Virginia’s wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton.

James P. “Jim” McGinnis (1959-2025)

James P. “Jim” McGinnis, 65, of Beaver, passed away at home unexpectedly on January 9th, 2025. 
He was born in Pittsburgh on December 14th, 1959, the son of Mary and the late Michael L. McGinnis. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Keith DeVaughn. Jim was married in 1991 to his wife of 33 years, Jan, serving and traveling with her in their work in Covenant Players. In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his brother, Tom (Laura) McGinnis, sisters, Mary DeVaughn, Eileen (Robert) Frankel and Rosemary McGinnis, three goddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. 
James attended Quigley Catholic High School, graduating in 1978, and received degrees in speech communications and business administration from Geneva College in 1982. During his high school and college years he was involved in numerous school and community play productions, and created and performed magic shows in various venues. 
His career path took him to Covenant Players, a Christian drama ministry, where he served in a number of capacities for nearly 40 years. As an actor, he performed in small- and large-cast plays throughout the U.S. and Canada. As a graphic artist, he created, by hand, scores of posters for the ministry’s training productions. As a leader, he led individual touring teams and served for over three years as Regional Director for work in the UK and Ireland. After retirement from Covenant Players, James worked as a driver for two different organizations, delivering pharmacy orders and, later, delivering people to healthcare appointments. 
He was a notorious cinephile, loving films from a wide variety of eras and genres. With a keen memory, he could recall and share lines from favorite movies with ease. Additionally, he loved to read, was quick with all types of trivia, and in 2018 fulfilled a lifelong dream of being invited to compete on Jeopardy! 
 
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 6 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, on Friday, January 17th. Gentlemen are invited to wear bow ties in in Jim’s honor. Online condolences may be shared at www.nollfuneral.com.

Patricia A. Nardick (1956-2024)

Patricia A. Nardick (Wilson), 68, of Aliquippa, passed away unexpectedly at Hermitage Valley Medical Center on December 10th, 2024. She was born on May 29th, 1956, a daughter of the late Bill and Rose Nardick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David “Cowboy” Nardick, two grandsons, Jacob Pack and Michael Hoover, and her long-time best friend (sister) Shirley Deluigi. She is survived by her three daughers, Jennifer (Jay) Wilson of Erie, Heather Wilson of Springfield, Tennessee and Natalie Wilson of Ellwood City, six grandchildren, Corey (Sydney) Pack, Joshua (Harlee) Pack of Springfield, Tennessee, Jared Lee of Ellwood City, Jocelyn Hoover, Caleb Hoover of Erie and Hayden Tesnovich of Ellwood City, a step grandson Daniel Podskalny, two great-grandchildren, Maelynn Pack and Gabriel Pack of Springfield, Tennessee, a sister, Norma Stanhope, a long friend and companion, Joseph Roma, two amazing friends (sisters), Leah Piroli and Lesia Razzano Dobo, with whom her family will be forever grateful for all of their care and support over the years, along with many nieces and nephews, that she loved and adored, as well as many family members and friends that she missed with all her heart. 

Patricia was known for her strong love for others, her giving heart, her strong will, her love for family and friends and her amazing love for the Lord. She graduated from Aliquippa Senior High School in 1974 to be employed in careers that served the public.

Patricia’s pride and joy was her children’s successes in life and watching her grandchildren grow. She wanted everyone to be happy and loved. She loved to make sure everyone was fed. No matter the table size, there was always enough food for everyone.
Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at Wildwood Chapel of Aliquippa. Arrangements have beene entrusted to the Anthony Mastrofransesco Funeral Home Inc, 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa.

Eleanor Roberta Cater (1945-2025)

Eleanor Roberta (Marocco) Cater, 79, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away January 14th, 2025, after a brief illness.
She was born in Rochester on December 8th, 1945, a daughter of the late Eleuterio and Maria Marocco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Cater and her siblings: Dominic, Bobby, Danny, James, Elmer, Christina, Margaret, Dora, Gloria, Maria, and Eleanor. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter: Eliot E. Cater (Bobbi Jo) and Maria Carpenter (Antwan Burton), five grandchildren who Eleanor adored: Demetri, Cole Olivia, Joseph and Mila, her brother Frank Marocco and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was a former member of St. Titus Church, part of Mary Queen of Saints Parish.
One may remember Eleanor as a cashier at various local grocery stores. She later became employed with Aliquippa Schools District as a lunch lady at the elementary school.
In her later years, Eleanor enjoyed watching TV and shopping online. Her greatest joy was spending time with her treasured grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 17th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a blessing service at 12 noon in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home, 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
