She was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 14th, 1935, and was preceded in death by Lenny, her beloved husband of 58 years. Alice was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, but became a proud York County resident after moving to Pennsylvania in the early 1960s with her husband and four young children. Her early days in York were centered on faith and family.  At the First Baptist Church of York, she became an active member, trusted Sunday School teacher, and knowledgeable treasurer, forming many of her deepest friendships and fondest memories there. At home, Alice poured her heart into raising her four children, encouraging them to learn, grow, and remember that it was always “more blessed to give than to receive.”  Her love for her children was evident in everything she did—from volunteering as a parent mentor with the AAA School Safety Patrol to delighting them by stepping in as a substitute teacher for their class, where her patience and good humor were greatly appreciated.

As her children grew older, Alice obtained her real estate license and her life got busier in a different way with showings, open houses, inspections, and closings.  Being a Realtor became her passion, fueled by her desire to guide people through one of the most important financial and emotional decisions of their lives.  Continuing her commitment to community engagement, Alice and her husband, Lenny, later launched the Sawmill Racquetball Clubs, helping bring the racquetball boom to York.  As manager, Alice connected personally with players while keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Alice was known for her frugality, complemented by an extraordinary generosity toward others.  Even on her worst day, she had a ready smile and kind word for everyone around her.  She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a dedicated businesswoman, and a faithful follower of Jesus.  Her legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire her family and community for generations to come.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of York, 3375 Druck Valley Road, York, Pennsylvania, 17406.  The family is especially grateful for the care and love provided by the staff at Celebration Villa of Chippewa and Gateway Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the branch of Gabauer Funeral Homes.
