Reda Jean Steinacker (1935-2024)

Reda Jean Steinacker, 89, of Chippewa Township, formerly of Rochester, passed away on November 4th, 2024, in Celebration Villa of Chippewa. She was born on April 8th, 1935 in Rochester, the daughter of the late Charles V. and Helen Ripper Steinacker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Jane Steinacker and cousins Lawrence “Joe” Moyer and Donna J. Moyer. Reda is survived by her beloved cousins, Paul, Sharon and Dalton Moyer, of Karns City, Pa., and numerous cousins and friends including special friends Harry and Karen Baker, Rochester Twp., and Mary LaFrance, Rochester. Reda was a retired employee of Horsehead Corporation, St. Joe Lead Company, in the accounting department. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Church of Rochester, where she was on the counting committee. She was also  a former volunteer with various church activities. She was a 1953 graduate of Rochester High School who loved to travel, read and needle crafting. She also loved Christmas and loved celebrating the season by fully decorating her entire house for the holiday season.
Friends will be received on Thursday, November 7th from 3-6 p.m. in the William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester. A service will also be held on Friday, November 8th at 11 a.m., in the Grace Evangelical Church, 393 Adams Street, Rochester, with Pastor Gregory Clagg officiating. Entombment will be at Sylvania Hills Mausoleum. Memorial contributions be made to the Rochester Library, 252 Adams Street, Rochester, or Grace Lutheran Church, 393 Adams Street, Rochester.

Eleanor Marie Vlasic (1943-2024)

Eleanor Marie Vlasic, 80, passed away surrounded by her three beloved children on November 2nd, 2024. She was born in Sewickley on November 4th, 1943, a daughter of the late Dominic and Anna Burzese. She is survived by her three children, Courtney, Christopher and Jonathan and five grandchildren: Lauren, Brendan, Vivian, Olivia and Vienna; son in-law Brian Markowski, and daughter in-laws Brandy and Michelle Vlasic.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by sisters Evelyn Kuny and Norma Jean Dellemonache. She is survived by her sister Regina Slavik and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor’s main focus in life was being the best mother she could but her early years were dedicated to hard work and education. Eleanor earned an Associate Degree from Robert Morris College and went on to lead a very successful career as an Administrative Assistant with both US Steel and American Bridge. Also, Eleanor and her parents of Italian descent, was the founding inspiration to Pittsburgh’s own restaurant of institutional status, Alla Famiglia.

Eleanor was giving to a fault, but was never afraid to say anything she thought someone needed to hear, especially if that someone was one of her children. Eleanor’s greatest joy in life was her family. Eleanor was the very best Grandma to her grand children and put them above all. She loved to always be surrounded by family, and never ran out of love to share, no matter how the family continued to grow. She truly was the glue that kept her beloved family together.

Eleanor’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children and their children, and many other family members. Eleanor will be truly missed and her legacy never forgotten.

Shirley Ann Hartman (1934-2024)

Shirley Ann Hartman, 89, of Economy, passed away on November 4th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 24th, 1934, the daughter of the late Tink and Gen Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Allen Hartman Sr.

She is survived by her children: Allen Hartman Jr., Thomas (Kathryn) Hartman, Steven (Carole) Hartman, and Sharon (Gary) Swiderski; her sister, Linda Miller, her brother, Howard Johnson, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A devoted member of Parkwood United Presbyterian Church in Allison Park, Shirley was an active participant in the church choir. She enjoyed card games, bowling, and was a true connoisseur of fine wine from Narcisi Winery. A passionate supporter of Pittsburgh sports teams, she brought joy and energy to everyone she met. Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, from 1–5 P.M. and 6–8 P.M. at Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, November 8, from 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11 A.M. at Parkwood United Presbyterian Church, 4289 Mount Royal Boulevard, Allison Park. Burial will be private.

Sylvia L. Emert Kasely (Passed on November 4th, 2024)

Sylvia L. (Lipnicky) Emert Kasely, 83, a lifelong resident of Center Township, passed away on November 4, 2024 at Heritage Valley, Beaver. She was born in Monaca, a daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie (Weigel) Lipnicky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph “Wimp” Emert, her second husband Stephen Kasely, her brother and sister law Thomas and Marlene Lipnicky, her brother Rick Lipnicky and her sister Patti Lipnicky. She is survived by her beloved children, Renee McFadden of Surf City, North Carolina, Judy (Mark) Snyder of Rochester, George (Paula) Emert of Raccoon Township, and Barbara (David Lisjack) Emert of Newport News, Virginia. 6 grandchildren: Leslie, Shannon, Kayla, Andrew, Amanda and William; her eleven great grandchildren, her sister Stella Lonkert of Rochester, brother Randy (Kate) Lipnicky of Evans City, Pennsylvania, sister-in-law Deb Lipnicky, Aliquippa, PA, sister-in-law Catherine McKay of Monaca, and her brother-in-law Robert Emert of Massillon, Ohio. She will be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

Sylvia spent many years as a manager at Mac’s Donuts in Beaver and later at Walmart in Monaca. For many years, she was involved in the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary serving as President at local level and Trustee at the state level. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. 

She loved watching the Steelers and Penguins play. She spent many years at her camp in Kellettville, and more recently at her retreat at Mosquito Lake where she enjoyed gardening and bird watching. 

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 7,  from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where services will be held on Friday, November 8th at 10 a.m. with her pastor, the Reverend Robert Saul, officiating. Burial will take place later in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. 

 

Robert E. Coburn (1941-2024)

Robert E. Coburn, 83, of North Sewickley Township, passed away on November 3, 2024, at Heritage Valley Sewickley. 

He was born on July 9, 1941, in New Brighton, the son of the late Charles E. and Norma (Reda) Coburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Wright) Coburn; four brothers: William, Donald, Richard, and Clifford; and three sisters, Betty Nicholson, Dorothy Coburn and Norma Jean Sargent.  

He is survived by his two daughters, Virginia Wolf and Donna Gumpf, his grandchildren, Stephanie (Matthew Steele) Coburn, Kimberly Gumpf, Joshua and Cody Gault, and great-grandchildren: Savana Herron, Matthew Steele, Aubree Steele, Nolan Gumpf and Waelon Baysinger. 

Robert was a retired U.S. Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Rochester VFW #128, American Legion, Post #580, FOE #1342, and the United Croatian Club of New Brighton. 

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 7th, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m., in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton, with Pastor Bill Blume officiating. 

Members of the Beaver County Special Unit are asked to meet on Friday, November 8th at 9:45 a.m., at the Concord Cemetery, Concord Church Road, Beaver Falls, to provide military honors for Robert. 

Delores Ann Anderson (1933-2024)

Delores Ann Anderson, 91, of Beaver Falls, passed away on October 31, 2024 at Heritage Valley Beaver. 

She was born on October 30, 1933, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Foley) Nicholson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Anderson Jr. and her sons Robert Dale and Frank Michael Anderson. 

She is survived by her daughter Jackie Church, grandchildren: Matthew Thompson (Lindsay), Adam Thompson (Claudia), Melissa Bidlack (Jay), Jenna Sinha (Shayan), Jack Anderson (Leah); great-grandchildren: Kane, Isaiah, Micah, Mia, Ava, Alex, Abigale, Evelyn, Logan, Vir, McKenna and Jordyn; beloved son-in-law, Mark Church, daughter-in-law, Janice Anderson, life-long friend, Sandy Weckerly, and close friends, Ron Tomasula, Jody Wade, and Regina Sariochek. She was Aunt Dee to several nieces and nephews.  

In 1949, she married Jack Anderson Jr. of Beaver Falls, and they had three children, Jackie, Dale and Michael. 

Delores worked in hospitals all her life and retired as a team lead from the sterile processing unit at Heritage Valley medical center after 30 years. 

She was an animal lover known for taking her dog for walks around Beaver Falls and for taking in any strays that wandered around her neighborhood. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and volunteering with the American Legion, where she held the office of chaplain. She was a devoted Catholic, who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, she was a member of Holy Family church. 

Family and friends will be welcomed on Friday, November 8th, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m., in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton, with Pastor Bill Anzevino officiating. 

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Broadhead Road Center Township, Pa 15001. 

Janet M. Primo (Passed on October 31st, 2024)

Janet M. (LoFaso) Primo, 77, a lifelong resident of Monaca, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Rochester, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lena (Bonanno) LoFaso. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Frank Primo, three children, Michelle (Daniel) Cronin, Anthony (Christine) Primo, and Angela Benson, her grandchildren: Emily (Alec) Ingros, Madelyn, Benjamin, and Grace Cronin, Conner and Matthew Benson, Madison, Abigail, and Jacob Primo, two brothers, Sam (Linda) LoFaso and Tom (Anna) LoFaso, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Janet was a wonderful mother who was always there when she was needed the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Professionally, Janet held various roles in catering, food services management, and furniture sales. Janet’s love for her Savior and Lord Jesus was a major influence in how she lived out her life. As a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca, she found solace and strength in her community of faith. Her commitment to her church extended beyond attendance. She served as a CCD teacher, lector, Eucharistic minister and after the death of her grandson, Janet became a guiding force in the Grief Share program at both St. John’s and later at St Francis Cabrini Catholic Churches. Janet’s understanding and empathy provided a source of comfort, healing, and friendship for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Her ability to listen and her willingness to share her own experiences made Janet a saving grace to many. Her legacy of care and support will be remembered by those she helped during their most challenging times.

Janet’s influence will continue to be felt. Her love for her family, her passion for helping others, and her deep faith have left an indelible mark on the world. The family will now commence to fighting over her recipes for her homemade sauce, meatballs, noodles, and pizzelles.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.

Hilliary Z. (Lawson) Coe (1974-2024)

Hilliary Z. (Lawson) Coe, 50, passed away on October 30, 2024, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1974, a daughter of Richard Lawson of Monaca and Deborah Lawson of Zelienople. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sons Jackson (Sonny) and Samuel Coe, her sisters, Shannon (Steve) Pfeuffer of New Sewickley Township and Summer (Chad) Kirkpatrick of Ellwood City, her lifelong best friend, Joanna Creegan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

When she was 6 years old, Hilliary’s family moved to New Sewickley, Pennsylvania where she lived a majority of her life. She graduated from Freedom Area High School in 1992, then pursued her Associate degree from Robert Morris University. Hilliary worked as a realtor, she enjoyed flipping houses and she was also a bookkeeper for Rock Concrete and O’Connor & Co. Above all else, she was a devoted and loving Mother to her two sons. They were her pride and joy. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Hilliary was always up for an adventure. From camping, attending rock concerts, to many road trips, she was always on the go, making new friends, connecting with old ones, and gathering with family along the way. She had a strong, determined will and never backed down from any challenges she faced. She loved her family, both near and far, fiercely. Hilliary will lovingly and forever be remembered by all those whose lives she touched with her kind, courageous, adventurous spirit.  

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at a viewing on Wednesday, November 6th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, November 7th from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton. 

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery of Freedom. 

Cora Frances Campbell (Passed on November 1st, 2024)

Cora Frances Campbell, 92, of Center Township passed away on November 1, 2024 at her Center Township home. She was born in Bald Hill of Greene County, Cora was a daughter of the late Walter Leslie and Goldie Mae (Lang) King. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Campbell, Sr., a grandson, Donald Campbell Jr., and three siblings, Betty Garrett, Evelyn Seery, and Sonny King.  

She is survived by her brother, Tom King, her daughter Delores (Terry) Malekovic of Center Township and three sons, James (Diane) Campbell of Florida, Richard (Joyce) Campbell of Florida, and Donald (Margaret) Campbell of Potter Township, her eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. 

Cora worked for many years of dedicated service at the dietary department at Aliquippa Hospital. She was a woman of faith and a member of the Methodist community. A sports enthusiast, Cora’s passion for athletics was evident to all who knew her. She reveled in the excitement of baseball seasons and was an ardent supporter of football, cheering on her favorite teams with vigor, and her admiration for Tiger Woods and his skill of golf was evident. 

Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 6th from 5 p.m. until the time of service 7 p.m. at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue , Monaca. Reverend Donald Scandrol will officiate. Private interment will take place on Thursday, November 7th at Woodlawn Cemetery. 

The family has suggested memorial contributions made, if desired to UPMC Children’s Hospital or Special Olympics.

Phyllis Rae Miller (1930-2024)

Phyllis Rae Miller, 94, of Raccoon Township, passed away on October 30, 2024 in Concordia Villa St. Joseph. She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on March 30, 1930, a daughter of the late John and Thelma McLaughlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert M. Miller, a grandson, Clinton Wade, and seven siblings: Jack McLaughlin, Barbette Ferry, Oliver McLaughlin, Robert “Blue Jay” McLaughlin, Patti Byers, Judie Retallack, and Jerry McLaughlin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah & Michael Drake and Margaret & J.C. Redden, her son, Lennie & Sara Beth Miller, five grandchildren: Lee (Corrie) Miller, Michelle (Dustin) Addison, Corey Miller, Andrew Drake, and Ashley (Les) Beldo; seven great grandchildren: Brooks, Aaron, Lia Miller, Shelbi and Kinzi Addison, Logan and Wyatt Drake; a brother-in-law, Bruce Retallack, two sisters-in-law, Norma McLaughlin and Katie Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was a loving wife, loving mother, loving grandmother and a loving Great Grandma Georgia. Her first love was the Lord and her many churches in Pennsylvania and Georgia. She was actively involved with church activities, both physically and financially. She was a youth group leader and a Sunday school teacher who held small groups in her home.  She even continued talking to residents in the Villa about the Lord. She loved to clean and entertain in her home.

Friends will be received on Sunday, November 3rd from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 4th at 11 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant EP Church, 846 State Route 18 Aliquippa.

The family wishes to thank the FontBonne Unit at Concordia Villa St. Joseph for the special care given to Phyllis for the two years she lived there.
