Flora “Tootsie” Mae Casciato, 89, of Wampum, passed away on July 26th, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Beaver Falls on May 23rd, 1936, a daughter of the late Mario and Teresa (Scaramuzzi) Casciato. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Felix and Armand “Mooch” Casciato, three sisters, Roziland Wisz, Mary Casciato, and Anna Casciato and two nieces, Judi Bach, and Cindy Malfetto. She is survived by her nephews, Michael and Edward Casciato, her nieces, Susan Huffman and Kathy Cook, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Flora was a bank teller for Reeve’s Bank-FNB for 28 years before she retired in 2008. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish in Beaver County and was a part of the Women’s Bowling League at Sims Bowling Lanes in Beaver Falls. Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 29th from 4 P.M. until the time of service at 7 P.M. in CORLESS-KUNSELMAN FUNERAL SERVICES, LLC, 3801 4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, who was in charge of her arrangements. John Huey Thompson (1935-2025)
John Huey Thompson, 89, of Economy Borough, passed away on July 24th, 2025 at Providence Health and Rehbailitation Center of Beaver Falls surrounded by his family. He was born in Conway on December 19th, 1935, a son of the late James and Eva (Stevens) Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Maryjane Thompson, Margaret “Peggy” Toogood and Nancy Monaci and his brothers, James Thompson and Robert Thompson. John is survived by his sisters, Joyce Whitehouse of Scottsdale, Arizona, Betty (Frank) Palakovich of East Rochester, a brother, Gary Thompson of Conway, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that loved him dearly.
John attended Freedom Area High School. From an early age, he loved gardening, along with fishing, hunting, camping and following all Pittsburgh sports teams. John also had a love for animals, especially the family dog, Cooper. Up until his retirement, he was employed at the Conway Post Office for many years.
His niece, Christine, her husband, Clint and their sons were very close to him and took great care of him for 18 years in their home in Economy. John’s niece Victoria was also very helpful with taking him shopping and to his doctor’s appointments. His nephew Mark was his fishing, camping and bash buddy.
In accordance with John’s request, there will be no public visitation. Inurnment will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a future date for family and friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
The family would like to thank everyone at Providence Nursing Home in Beaver Falls for John’s care, and they would also like to thank Grane Hospice for their care in his final days.

Rosa May St. John (1956-2025)
Rosa May St. John, 69, of Rochester, passed away on July 21st, 2025. She was born on May 17th, 1956, a daughter of the late Adolph Mahoney and Betty J. Drake Mahoney. She is survived by her husband, Frank R. St. John, as well as her two sons, Chad J. and Jeremy F. St. John. She is also survived is her granddaughter, Olivia, her two brothers, Donald and Jim Mahoney, one sister, Cheryl Mahoney, two sister-in-laws, Diane and Sylvan Rotuna and Darlene and Joseph Grdenich, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosa was a homemaker and housewife. She was also the founder of the Beaver County Ghosthunters.
In accordance with Rosa’s wishes, she will be cremated with no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the William Murphy Funeral Home Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester.
Noel Vernon Winton (Passed on July 22nd, 2025)
Noel Vernon Winton, 81 of Vanport, a former longtime New Brighton resident, passed away on July 22nd, 2025 at his Vanport residence.
His life began on the West Coast in California where he was raised but found its most enduring chapters written in the heart of Beaver County, where he settled after meeting the love of his life, Janis Deyber. Their marriage on November 13th, 1963, was a testament to a love that would endure the trials of time, a union that remained unbroken until Janis’s passing on October 17, 2024.
He was the elder brother of five siblings. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Vernon and Wrilda Mae Winton and his brothers, Edgar and David. He is survived by his brothers, Jerry and Douglas and his sister, Gina.
Noel is also survived legacy by his loving children: Lori and her husband, Ron Tedford, Doug Winton, and Jeanne Winton and his grandchildren, Tristan Tedford and Noelle Dugan, who will forever cherish the memories of their grandfather’s boundless love and guidance. Known as “Daddy Vern” to many, his extended family at the Monaca American Legion and countless friends felt the warmth of his generous spirit.
Noel’s early life was characterized by a commitment to service. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served with distinction during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was a model of patriotism and often spoke with pride about his military experiences. Following his honorable discharge, he dedicated over 40 years of his life to Westinghouse Electric, which later became Cutler Hammer in Beaver as an inspector. His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid lover of kids, dogs, and music who coached the New Brighton Little League team and later ascended to the role of Little League Commissioner. His competitive spirit found another outlet in his participation in a local golf league and his enjoyment of bass fishing. However, music was Noel’s soul’s true companion when he played the guitar and immersed himself in the sounds of Rock n’ Roll that provided him with endless joy. The Beatles, Buddy Holly, and Creedence Clearwater Revival were among his favorite groups with their music the soundtrack of his many cherished moments.
He was also an active member of the Monaca American Legion Post #580 and his presence was a fixture at bar bingo nights, where his laughter and camaraderie were as much a part of the evening as the games themselves.
Everyone is welcome to gather on Thursday, July 31st from 2-6 P.M. at the American Legion Post #580, Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca to remember and celebrate his life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.
Carolyn S. Woolaway (1959-2025)
Carolyn S. Woolaway, 65, of Chippewa Township, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on July 23rd, 2025.
She was born in South Beaver Township on September 30th, 1959, a daughter of James G. and Geraldine L. Murphy Uebelacker. In addition to her parents, Carolyn will be greatly missed by her son, James P. (Samantha) Woolaway of Berthoud, Colorado, her daughters, Emily L. (Tyler) McConnell of Sorrento, Florida and Kate Rose (David) Pierce of La Mesa, Califormia, her grandchildren, Theo and Jack Woolaway, and Evelyn and Ian McConnell, her brother, James M. (Kathy) Uebelacker, her sisters: Linda (Tom) Bradshaw, Rosemary (Alan) Stratton, Cindy (Jeff) Rimbey, and Lorrie Duda; as well as her aunt, Wilma Uebelacker, her former husband, Tom A. Woolaway and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, their spouses and children and her cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tim Duda.
Carolyn retired from Lifesteps Preschool and was a former aide at Beaver Area Elementary Schools. She taught at Four Mile Preschool from 1996 to 1998. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Beaver, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a former member of Beaver PTA, Beaver Football, Beaver Hockey and Beaver Baseball. She coached girls T-Ball, volleyball and helped with musicals and orchestra. She also was a YMCA instructor.
Friends will be received Sunday, July 27th, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, who was in charge of her arrangements. Michael S. Dichov (Passed on July 18th, 2025)
Michael S. Dichov, 73, of Monaca, formerly of Brookeville, Maryland, passed away on July 18th, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford following a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vsevolod and Ann, his sister, Kathie, and his brother-in-law, Mike Fedoroff. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cecily (Fronko), his siblings, Valentina Fedoroff, Maria Dichov, Al Dichov (Lisa Janssen) and Ann Dichov (Tom Malusa), her cousins, nieces, and nephews and last but not least, his feline family: Skittles, Minka, Pria, Maya and Peebles.
Michael was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Silver Spring, Maryland at age thirteen. He attended Montgomery Blair High School of Silver Spring, Maryland, where he excelled in sports, which continued through his college career and adult life. Michael retired from Montgomery County Public Schools of Rockville, Maryland in 2007 as a health and physical education teacher. He spent his retirement traveling, visiting family and playing lots of gold and tennis. He actually had a golf club in his hand at the age of seven.
He cultivated many lasting friendships over the years and was especially proud of his most recent endeavor of teaching square dancing at the Center at the Mall this past winter.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of doctors, nurses and therapists at UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Mercy Spinal Rehab unit, and finally at the wonderful nurse’s staff at Good Samaritan Hospice. Words cannot express our gratitude. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Helen Nadine (Locy) Barnes (1936-2025)
Helen Nadine (Locy) Barnes, 88, of New Brighton, passed away peacefully in her home on July 21st, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 14th, 1936, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Alvin and Gertrude (Elliott) Locy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Reber, her son, Daniel Wilhelm and her siblings: Betty Snyder, Artis Matthews, Earl Locy, Charlotte Remington, and Sandra Fisk. She is survived by her husband, Donald Barnes, her children: Cynthia Hancock (Greg), Nancy Morgan, Randy Wilhelm, Ronald Wilhelm (Roxanna) and Fredrick Toth (Melissa); as well as her brother, Gary Locy and her sister, Phyllis Siros. She was also a cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many who is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen often said that her children were the best thing that ever happened to her. In her words: “I love all of them the same. None no different than the other. They are so good to me in a lot of ways.” Her deep love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Helen’s devoted nursing staff, Jen, Jess, and Ashley, as well as her beloved caretaker, Tina, whose compassion and care provided great comfort in her final days.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 24th, from 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M., at the J & J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, who was in charge of her arrangements, and where a Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, July 25th at 10 A.M. Officiating will be Sam Fidell. Interment will take place at the Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum following the Celebration of Life Service.

Joann M. (Klak) Barna (1934-2025)
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Barna, a son, Richard Barna, her siblings and their spouses, Sophie (Victor) Andreatta, Dorothy (Ercole) DiNinno, Henry (Mary) Klak, Ed (Shirley) Klak and two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Michael (Natalie) Barna Jr., Barbara Ann Barna, Veronica Barna and Richard Jula. She is survived by her loving children, David (Deborah) Barna, Diane (Tom) Canning and Jon (Becky) Barna, her three grandchildren, Michael, Alex, and Megan, her sister, Flo Jula, her brother-in-law and her sister-in-law, Robert (Rita) Barna.
Joann was a faithful member of Mary Queen of Saints Parish and St. Titus Roman Catholic Church of Aliquippa. She actively contributed to her community as a member of Red Hat society and Eager Beaver bowling lead. She cherished her role as the heart of her family. Every moment spent with her loved one was a treasure, from lively holiday gatherings to quiet evenings sharing stories. Her presence was a comforting constant and a source of strength and unwavering support that knitted them all together.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gateway Hospice and Celebration Villa and Dr. Ashwini Gandhe for the excellent care provided to Joann.

Lois J. Theuerl (1942-2025)
Lois J. Theuerl, 83, of Beaver, passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2025 at Cambridge Village of Patterson Township.
She was born in Beaver Falls on February 20th, 1942, a daughter of the late James and Frances (Headland) Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, June, Clyde, Don, Carol, and Dickie. She is survived by her children, Christian (Deborah Dorsey) Theuerl and Monica Simpson-Jeannette, her siblings, Barbara (Pat) Whalen and Paul (Lana) Simpson, her grandson, Noah Jeannette and her beloved feline companion, Misty.
Lois had retired from the State Liquor Store as a manager and later worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier. She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church of Beaver, part of Our Lady of the Valley Parish. Lois had a love for animals and enjoyed her church, playing cards and reading.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11 A.M. at St. Christopher at the Lake Church of St. Faustina Parish, 232 N Franklin Street, Prospect, Pennsylvania with Fr. Adam Verona as celebrant.

Margaret “Marge” Yoders (1923-2025)
Margaret “Marge” Yoders, 101, of Moon Township, died on July 19th, 2025 in the Bridgeville Rehabilitation & Care Center. She was born in Pittsburgh on August 25th, 1923, a daughter of the late John & Florentine (Hufnagel) Beck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Oliver McDonald, her second husband, George James Yoders, a son, Thomas Scott McDonald, a brother, William D. Beck, a sister, Virginia Schott, her stepsons, Craig Yoders and Clifford Yoders and her son-in-law, Charles Henderson. She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Henderson of Moon Township and her stepdaughter, Kathy Yoders, seven grandchildren: Jonathan McDonald (Brigitte), Chad Hanson, John McDonald, Dale McDonald, Kendria May, Clifford Yoders & Jaison Yoders; as well as five great grandchildren: Zane McDonald, Lexen McDonald, Norah Hanson, Scott McDonald & Collin McDonald.
Growing up during the depression, “Grandma GiGi” shared countless stories, not only about happy family memories, but also about the hardships, especially constantly having to move wherever her father could get work. Margaret remembered going to seventeen different schools throughout her childhood. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in McKees Rocks in 1941 where she had the lead in the class play. In her early years she loved to dance, especially dancing around the living room with her daughter when American Bandstand came on the TV. She was a great cook and at one point she raised chickens and delivered eggs to her local customers who called her “the egg lady.” Although she couldn’t read music she played the organ beautifully, often entertaining family and friends. In her later years, she was a voracious reader (mostly romance novels) and along with friends was a member of the Red Hat Society (although she had no patience for the hat because it messed up her hair). The family is most appreciative of the care and compassion from the staff at Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care Center and Heartland Hospice over the past two years.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 22nd from 3 P.M. until the time of a Blessing Service at 7 P.M. in the Huntsman Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Moon Township, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, Moon Township, who was in cahrge of her arrangements. Private interment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Road, Coraopolis, will take place at a later date.
