Lester “Lee” Harrington (Passed on December 11th, 2024)

Lester “Les” Herrington, 61 of Aliquippa, a man known for his velvety voice and generous heart, passed away on December 11th, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. He was born in New Brighton, a son of the late Albert and Justine Herrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alberta Herrington and brothers, William and Robert Herrington and Eugene Garrett, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen, his brother, Jeffrey Herrington; his sister, Elaine Johnson; his stepsons, Joseph (Nicole) Morelli and Jeffrey Morelli; as well as his dear friend, Doug Jennings, and family friend, Beth Hornyak.

Lester was a 1981 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and furthered his education by earning an associate degree from the Community College of Beaver County, which served as a stepping stone to helping others. Les was united in marriage to Maureen L. Morelli Herrington on May 6, 2017, and together they shared a bond of love, laughter, and mutual respect.

For many years, Les was a nursery teacher at the Beaver Falls Salvation Army, where he nurtured countless young minds with kindness and patience. His dedication to service extended beyond the classroom as he operated the organization’s food bank, ensuring those in need received not just sustenance but also a warm smile and an understanding ear.

His talents were many, but it was his beautiful, velvety voice that often stole the show. An avid singer, he delighted in performing Rhythm and Blues karaoke. When not sharing his musical gifts, Lester could be found on the golf course or by the water, fishing rod in hand.

Friends will be received on Sunday, December 15th from 1-3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Reverend Micharl Sourwine will officiate.

Valerie Jean Rudnicki (1942-2024)

Valerie Jean Rudnicki, 82, passed away on December 6th, 2024. She was born on July 8th, 1942, and was preceded in death by her father Sprague, mother Arlene,
stepmother Grace, brother Bill, sister Karen, and many other friends and relatives.
Valerie is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Richard, who she has entrusted to continue guiding their five children: Laura (Joerg Schaude) Rudnicki, Ric Rudnicki, Leigh (James) Sheets, Robert Rudnicki, and Lynde (Joseph) Mujwit. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Haley (Brian) Sirnic, Rory (Hannah) Sheets,Jenna Sheets, Chloe Mujwit, Leon Schaude, Mitchell Mujwit, Alexandra Rudnicki, and Richard Rudnicki III. Valerie sends her love and smile to her surviving brother Dennis (Jackie) Hollister and half-brother Harry Eakles.
She was a voracious reader, avid gardener, and creative cook and baker. She embraced
being a mother to her very active and individualistic sons and daughters. Her
commitment to being a grounded, loving wife was a welcomed force of nature that kept her family steadfast and happy. Val had many friends, but none closer than her
husband, Richard. In their later years, they were inseparable.
If you knew her, you know that she wants you to be smiling and laughing right now, as
she understood that these are the moments that create a life worth living. Honor her
memory by sharing a smile and laugh with someone today.
In accordance with with Valerie’s wishes, she will be cremated, and there will be no viewing. Arrangements are entrusted to the William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester.

JoAnn Yorns (1941-2024)

JoAnn Yorns, 83, of New Brighton, passed away on December 10th, 2024, in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Denton, Texas after a brief illness.

She was born on May 1st, 1941, in Freedom, the daughter of the late Carl and Louise (Alberti) Steiner. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. “Big Ed” Yorns, Sr. She is survived by her children, Sherri (Brad) Kelly of Cranberry Township, Kelly (Steve) Jonas of Sanger, Texas, Edward (Michelle) Yorns, Jr. of New Brighton, grandchildren: Audra Kelly, Jordan (Shelby) Kelly, Stephen (Brandi) Jonas, Rachel (Hunter) Garza, Edward III and Andrew Yorns, great granddaughter, Blayke Jonas and sister, Rose Marie Berrill of New Brighton.

JoAnn was a devoted family woman who treasured her loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma, whose lives she filled with warmth, wisdom, and endless affection. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and valued. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A special thanks to Owen Pitz and Maddie Cantu who will always hold a special place in her heart.

There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, December 20th at noon in Holy Family Church, 521 7th Avenue, New Brighton. Fr. Anthony Carbone will officiate.

Private interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery of New Brighton.

Betty Jane (Mancini) Bernola (1936-2024)

Betty Jane (Mancini) Bernola, 88, of Aliquippa, passed away on December 10th, 2024.

She was born on January 21st, 1936 in Aliquippa Hospital, the daughter of the late Nicola and Marietta (Gargaro) Mancini. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Cornell and her brother, Patrick Mancini. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Susan Bernola, three grandchildren, Brandi and Anthony Budris, Brandon and Britney Bernola and Brett and Whitney Bernola; five great grandchildren: Afton, Amzey, Luca, Luella and Rayna; nephew, Frank (Joni) Perilli, sister-in-law, Elsie, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Betty worked at Young’s Drugstore in Aliquippa, which is where she met her husband, Cornell. In 1954, she married the love of her life and they were married for almost 70 years. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Her family was everything to her and she spent her life taking care of them. She was also a member of St. Titus Church of Aliquippa.

In her younger years, Betty enjoyed her casino trips and then later in life, her scratch tickets.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to the staff at Harmony Haus and Three Oaks Hospice for their kindness and care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home, Inc., of Aliquippa. Services were entrusted to Our Lady of Fatima Church of Aliquippa.

William C Denny, Sr. (1938-2024)

William C. Denny Sr.,  86, of Moon Township, passed away on December 11th, 2024.

He was born in Sewickley on November 14th, 1938, a son of the late Louis and Florence Davidson Denny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his  wife, Bonnie Denny, a son, William Denny Jr., and a niece, Rachel. He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Richard) Trapizona, three grandchildren, Marissa & Sarah Trapizona & Joshua Walker, sister, Beverly Lang, two nieces, Lori & Kim, and a good friend of the family, Dave Dascanio.

William enjoyed spending time with his family and going to Tennessee as well as the Clarion River Lodge.

In accordance with William’s request, there will be no public visitation.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 20th, at 10:30 A.M. in St. James Catholic Church of Sewickley.  Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Agnes Maiuro (Passed on December 10th, 2024)

Agnes Maiuro, 81, of Baden, passed away on December 10th, 2024, in Jefferson Hospital. She was born in New Jersey, a daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Hampton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Maiuro, her son, Salvatore Maiuro, her sisters, Patricia (Boris) Telep and Irene (Al) Pavlick, and a brother, Thomas Hampton.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie (Fred Nardei) Maiuro, her son, Edward Maiuro, her brother, Joseph (Elaine) Hampton, her sister-in-laws, Diane Hampton and Sally (John) Stone, her brother-in-law, Alfred (Jean) Maiuro, numerous nieces and nephews who she cherished dearly and her beloved pets Abby and Gracie.

Agnes lived most of her life in New Jersey, but relocated to be closer to her daughter, in the Pittsburgh region, when she retired. She was widowed at a young age, and raised her 3 children on her own, while working as a registered nurse and teacher of the deaf. In her retirement years, she enjoyed quilting with her many friends in several quilting groups. She sang in multiple choirs where she regularly attended church and served on the board of the Baden Library.  A self-proclaimed “Jersey Girl,” Agnes was known for being open and honest about her thoughts.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 14th, from 1-3 P.M., in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a Blessing Service will follow at 3 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Agnes’ name to the Susan G. Koman Foundation and Planned Parenthood.

William C. Angel, Jr. (1950-2024)

William C. Angel, Jr, 74, passed away on December 6th, 2024.  He was born at Rochester Hospital, on March 12th, 1950, a son of the late William and Sara (Harlacher) Angel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David P. Angel. He is survived by his brothers, John Angel of Ross Township and James (Amy) Angel of Fairfax, Virginia, a niece, Elizabeth J. (Tiona) Angel of Atlanta, Georgia and four nephews: William B. Angel of Arlington, Virginia, David M. Angel, Paul H. Angel and Peter J. Angel, all from Fairfax, Virginia.

William was a lifelong resident of Baden, living in the house his grandfather, Elmer P. Angel, built. In his last few years, he resided in Harmony Haus in Ambridge, where he received excellent loving care.

William possessed a great love for music.  He played drums and piano, in addition to singing in the choir.  He also enjoyed spending his mornings at McDonald’s, hanging out with his friends who called themselves, “The Philosophers.”

William graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, with a degree in Political Science.  During his working years, he worked at Reeves Bank, Mellon Bank, and Tuscarora Plastics. His real passion, however, was preaching as a lay Lutheran supply pastor who would lead services when other pastors were unavailable.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 16th, from 4-6 P.M., in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, followed by a Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 17th, at 10 A.M., in New Hope Lutheran Church, 200 2nd Avenue, Freedom. Burial will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park of Rochester.

Jason Scott Roberts (1971-2024)

Jason Scott Roberts, 53, of Baden, passed away on December 10th, 2024.

He was born on April 9th, 1971, a son of Ruth and Dwight Roberts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward H. and Gladys M. Roberts, and Paul J. and Vivian H. Beck.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Kevin (McKay) Roberts and Shana (Jonas) Shearer, and his nephew, Tyler, along with his nieces Maive and Maelynn.

Jason had a passion for listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and enjoyed working on cars and trucks. He had a knack for fixing things and was always willing to help others. He also cherished the time spent with his beloved pet, Lily.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge.

James Edward White (1947-2024)

James Edward White, 77, of Pulaski Township passed away on December 10th, 2024 in his residence. He was born on February 14, 1947, the son of the late Vernon C. Harrison and Marian Dickinson Harrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly A. Connor and Wendy L. Longfellow. He is survived by two nieces, Kelly A. Riddell and her companion life mate Daniel J. Stevenson of Pulaski Township, Tracy L. Schroeder and her husband Michael of Supply, North Carolina, a great-niece, Julieanna Moore and her husband Colton of Germany and three great-nephews, Devon Taylor and his wife Alana of Japan, Kyle Herr and his wife Olivia and Jayden Herr of North Carolina. James was a former employee of Valley Refuse and was a member of the Phoenix Center of Rochester and New Brighton United Methodist Church. Friends will be received on Friday, December 13th from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester with the service following at 8:15 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Beebe Harding. The family wishes memorial contributions to be made to the Mental Health Association, 105 Brighton Avenue, Rochester, PA 15074.

Robert Leroy Knight (1961-2024)

Robert Leroy Knight, 63, of Midland, passed away on December 7th, 2024, at home.
He was born in Ellwood City on September 26th, 1961, a son of the late Clyde and Dorothy Mae Knight. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Irene, daughters, Stephanie Lallement and Tracy Markin; brothers, Ralph Knight, John Knight and Ray Knight, sisters: Dorothy Montgomery, Mary L. Knight, Nancy Knight, Kim Knight, and Jackie Knight; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Robert was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and had worked for Morrow Motors of Midland and Beaver Falls for nearly 20 years.
In accordance with Robert’s wishes, no public visitation was held.
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
