Walter I. “Pap” Edenfield, Sr. (1933-2025)

Walter I. “Pap” Edenfield Sr., 92, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away on July 6th, 2025 in his granddaughter’s home.  He was born in Hopwood, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1933, a son of the late Edward and Minnie Show Edenfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Edenfield, two sons, Walter I. “Skip” Edenfield Jr. and Mark Edenfield, a grandson, Jeffrey Holt and ten siblings. He is survived by two children, Sharon & Stephen Holt and William & Karen Edenfield, a daughter-in-law, Sue Deluca, eight grandchildren: Patrick Edenfield, Joseph Holt, Stephanie Holt, Amber Edenfield, Autumn Edenfield, Candice (Tim) Zappitelli, Kayla Deluca, and Justin Deluca; as well as three great grandchildren, Zayden, Braxton and Logan.

Walter retired from J&L Steel where he worked in the welded tube department. He was a longtime member of Christ Alliance Church of Aliquippa. He loved his family, watching sports and talking to anyone he could talk to. He just enjoyed life.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 14th from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa, who was in charge of his arrangements and where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 15th at 11 a.m.

Alice Delores (Howe) Zdinak (1929-2025)

Alice Delores (Howe) Zdinak, 96, passed away peacefully in Midland, Pennsylvania on July 8th, 2025. She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on January 15th, 1929. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Zdinak, her grandsons, John and Joshua Zdinak, her granddaughters, Daniella Zdinak and Brianna Warren and her siblings, Paul Howe, Gladys McClain, and Viola Tresoline. Alice was a cherished figure in her community and a beacon of love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and nurturing and is survived by her sons, Father John E. Zdinak (Cindy) of North Olmsted, Ohio, Stephen E. Zdinak (Therese) of Stratton, Ohio, and Jeffrey A. Zdinak of Midland, who was also Alice’s caregiver. Her life was further blessed with her grandchildren: Nikol Gamalo (Tony), Sasha Zdinak, Stephanie Dever (Grant), Kimberly Warren, (Brian), Natalie Kenny, (Geoffrey), and Bethany Shaw, (Derrick “DJ”); as well as her great-grandchildren: Antonia “Nia” & Sammy Gamalo, Liam and Steven Dever, Alaina “Lainey”, Ethan, & Isaac Warren, Zaydin, Lydia, and Evelyn Kenny and Ellie & Bailey Shaw. Alice dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her active involvement with the Catholic Women’s Club of St. Blaise Catholic Church in Midland, where she worshipped.
Alice was a graduate of Wellsville High School. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, hooking and crafting afghans that became cherished family heirlooms. Her contributions to her home and community were immeasurable and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Friends will be received at the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 629 Midland Avenue, Midland, on Thursday, July 10th, from 5-7 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 11th at St. Blaise Catholic Church, 772 Ohio Avenue, Midland, at 10:30 A.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver. Alice will be laid to rest next to her husband at Toronto Union Cemetery, 228 High Haven Drive, Toronto, Ohio

Valerie Kaye McClure (Passed on July 7th, 2025)

Valerie Kaye McClure, 62, of Monaca, passed away on the evening of July 7th, 2025 at PAM Health Specialty Hospital at Heritage Valley Beaver after an extended illness.

She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia and raised in Baden, a daughter of Rosemary Tetrick who survives her and the late Ronald Kaye Tetrick.

It was in the lunchroom of the Ambridge High School that she met John R. McClure in the 9th grade which grew to a lifelong bond. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandma who loved her family. The McClure family tree included her pride and joy: her daughter, Jessica McClure-Hall and her husband Brian, her son, Jacob McClure, and her grandchildren: Gavin, Brayden, Brenden, Lexi ‘Lou’, Ava, and Gianna. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Kaye Tetrick. In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her siblings: Jeffrey Tetrick, Kathy DePace, and Darlene Jasek and several nieces and nephews.

Valerie was a graduate of Ambridge High School. As a homemaker, Valerie always looked forward to the holidays and turned her house into a home and her kitchen into the heart of every gathering. She had a knack for transforming the mundane into the magnificent, and her secret ingredient was always a generous helping of love.

Valerie was an excellent cook who approached every recipe with a magician’s flair. She loved to shop and she decorated with the eye of a seasoned artist. Her philosophy was simple: every shopping trip began with lunch.

Valerie was also a certified foodie, with a palate as adventurous as her spirit. She could often be found on Tik Tok. Her love of music was as eclectic as her taste in food, spanning from toe-tapping beats to soulful ballads that she’d belt out with uninhibited joy.

Above all, Valerie was spirited. She approached life with a humor that was as infectious as it was insightful. Her special friend, Oliver the cat, provided her with countless hours of entertainment and cuddles.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 10th from 2- 4 P.M. and 6–8 P.M. at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, who was in charge of her arrangements where services will be held on Friday, July 11th at 10 A.M. with family friend and neighbor, Pastor Jack Robison, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, 1346 Chapel Road, Monaca.

Charlene A. (Akins) Doolittle (1931-2025)

Charlene A. (Akins) Doolittle, 94, of Chippewa Township, passed away on July 7th, 2025 at her residence.

She was born in Beaver Falls on April 4th, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert Akins and Helen (Robinette) Akins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Doolittle, Jr. and a grandson, Christopher Graeser. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Doolittle (care giver), Joan VanKirk and Jane (William) McGraw, her grandchildren: Philip (Amy) Graeser, Joshua (Shanthi) Graeser, Ryan (Gabby Baldasare) Brown, Eric (Marina) Brown, Joe and Erin (VanKirk) Daugherty, Steven VanKirk, and Jack VanKirk; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Phil, Christina, Jayna, Madisyn, Evyenia, Yianni, Markella, and Thespina.

Charlene was a member of St. Monica Church of St. Augustine Parish. She was a sales manager at Gimbels, Kaufman’s, and Lazarus department stores, as well as working at the Christmas Shop as the manager located inside the Beaver Valley Mall for over 20 years. After working at Allan Jewelers, she finally retired.

Friends will be received on Thursday, July 10th from 4-8 p.m. in the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls. Departing prayers will be offered in the funeral home on Friday, July 11th at 9:50 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Monica Church of St. Augustine Parish, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls. Father Bill Schwartz will officiate.

Entombment will follow in Beaver Cemetery & Mausoleum, Buffalo Street, Beaver.

Georgann Bell (1938-2025)

Georgann Bell, 87, of Brighton Township, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away on June 25th, 2025.

She was born in Punxsutawney on March 12th, 1938, a daughter of the late George and Josephine Turnbull. She is survived by her husband, James W. Bell, her sons, James (Becky) Bell and Thomas Bell, along with her grandchildren, Jimmy (Kari) Bell and Ashlen, Brittany, Justin and Erin Bell.

Georgann was a resident of Brighton Township for most of her life. She retired following a long career as a lunch monitor with the Beaver Area School District. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother.

Amy L. Marinelli (1978-2025)

Amy L. Marinelli, 46, of Beaver Falls, PA, passed away on July 3rd, 2025, at West Penn Hospital of Pittsburgh following a valiant battle with cancer.

Robert “Bevi” George Bevivino (1954-2025)

Robert “Bevi” George Bevivino, 71, of New Galilee, passed away unexpectedly on July 6th, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Ellwood City on June 11th, 1954, a son of the late Joseph and Anne (Ceriani) Bevivino. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Florence and Edward Denes, his aunt, Mimi, his brothers-in-law, James Beck and Terry Denes, his sisters-in-law, Donna Denes and Sally Barnhouse, a nephew, Andrew Karcheski and a niece, Michelle Kramer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Carol (Denes) Bevivino, a brother, Larry (Debbie) Bevivino, a sister, Joanne (John) Karcheski, brothers-in-law: James Denes, Edward Barnhouse, David (Tawnia) Denes, and Joshua (Shawna) Denes; as well as his sisters-in-law, Susan Beck, Nancy (Peter) Hoover and Linda (Herald) Leech, his nieces and nephews: Jaime, Carla, Billy, Tracy, Brock, Shanelle, Jeffery, Shawn, Dana, Kaitlyn, Logan, Zachary, Austin, Nathan, Zane, Arianna, Lexie, and Ava; along with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Robert was a devoted member of the L.M.B.A Club in New Galilee, which he loved to attend. He found enjoyment in life bowling, golfing, playing darts and bocce, where he was given the nickname “Mr. Bocce” since he was so good at it. He was known as the life of the party and he loved his Grey Goose and the casino machines.

Walter Edward Saiko (1926-2025)

Walter Edward Saiko, 98, of Daugherty Township, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2025, at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Osage, West Virginia on November 28th, 1926, a son of the late Mary and Andy Saiko. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Peggy and two brothers, Andrew and Frank Saiko. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Tamela Saiko of Parkersburg, West Virginia and two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Jim Jeffeaux of Greenville, South Carolina, and Bernadette and Thomas Mattica of Daugherty Township. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Joseph and Alexis Albright, Kevin Saiko, Alton and Matthew Jeffeaux, Rachel Mattica, Alyssa Mattica and her husband David Priebe; as well as a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Walter was a proud American and World War II veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre as an underwater demolition expert with the Amphibious Engineers, and was a long-time member of American Legion Post 19 of New Brighton. He was a Professional Engineer who worked on infrastructure projects across the United States, including remote regions like Barrow, Alaska.

He was a lifetime member and treasurer of the United Croatian Club of New Brighton, where he was a beloved presence and, by many accounts, the finest polka dancer in Western Pennsylvania. He was also a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and Holy Family Catholic Church in New Brighton.

He also leaves behind his faithful feline companion, Mačka.  Mačka was a constant comfort to Walt in his later years.

Friends will be received on Friday, July 11, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, who was in charge of his arrangements. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 521 7th Avenue, New Brighton with Brother John Harvey officiating. Members of the Beaver County Special Unit are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th to provide military honors.

Entombment will follow at Sylvania Hills Mausoleum, 273 PA-68, Rochester.

Friends are invited to join the family following the funeral at the United Croatian Club of New Brighton from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12th for food and dancing and to celebrate Walter’s life.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph for the compassionate care provided to Walt in his final days.

Noreen C. Wurzel (1941-2025)

Noreen C. Wurzel, 84, of North Sewickley Township, passed away on July 3rd, 2025, at her residence surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Lackawanna, New York on January 17th, 1941, a daughter of the late John and Ruth Fulton. She was married for 60 years to her high school sweetheart & the love of her life, Carl E. Wurzel, who passed away in 2021. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Pryor & Florence Heiman and a brother, John Fulton. She is survived by a sister, Jacque Chechourka (Sam) of Baytown, Texas, 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Cheri Eller (Rob) of Beaver, Lauri Johnson (George) of New Castle, & Sondra Senior (Lorne) of North Sewickley. “Gammy” was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Justin Eller (Amanda), Brandi Senior, Kayla Eller (Bill), Joshua Johnson (Samantha), Jonathan Johnson (Cayce) and Joseph Johnson (Samantha). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and her very good friend, Marsha Bischoff.

Noreen graduated from New Brighton High School and retired from NABCO Federal Credit Union.  She was a member of Concord Church of Beaver Falls where she enjoyed contributing in her Sunday School class & the choir.  Noreen also enjoyed playing the organ and sewing, but family was the most important part of life to her. She loved spending time with her kids, grand-kids, & grand-dogs. She also loved traveling to Texas to visit her extended family.

Noreen was a remarkable woman who brought warmth and care to every detail of life- gentle, strong, and deeply devoted to her faith and family.  She was a kind sister, loving mother and a proud “Gammy.”

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 11th, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, Inc., 1612 3rd Avenue, New Brighton, who was in charge of her arrngements. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, July 12th, from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m., in the Concord Church, 285 Concord Church Road, Beaver Falls. Pastor Chris Kindle of the Concord Church will officiate.

The family would like to thank the critical care team of nurses at Heritage Valley Beaver and Concordia Hospice of Beaver County for their compassionate care & support.

Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, 139 Norwood Drive, Beaver Falls.

Leslie C. “Uncle Les” Mayhue (1947-2025)

Leslie C. “Uncle Les” Mayhue, 78, of New Sewickley Township, died peacefully in the early morning hours on July 4th, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospice House of Wexford.

He was born in Rochester on April 7th, 1947, in Rochester, a son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Avery) Mayhue. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Phyllis Blackburn, Louise (Bill) Wigley, Nancy (Junior) Dawson, Susan Denuzzio, Bonnagene (Leonard) Moore; as well as his brothers, Bob (Nancy) Mayhue, Don (Geraldine) Mayhue, Rodger (Barbara) Mayhue and Larry Mayhue. He is survived by his sister, Becky (Bob) Castelli, a special niece, Tina (Larry) Paxton, their children, Ethan, Garrett, and Finley and many loving nieces and nephews.

Leslie was known for his sense of humor and love for automobiles, and people cherished his presence at any event. He shared a close bond with his niece’s children, and they affectionately considered him as a grandfather. He was an instigator of “TGIF,” especially with Finley. He spent many years self-employed, having owned and operated Mayhue Electric Drain Service.

In accordance with Leslie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. However, a memorial service will be held on Friday, July 11th at 7 P.M. at the Rochester Free Methodist Church, 480 Jefferson Street, Rochester, with Pastor Chuck Thomas as the officiant.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford for their excellent care, as well as the nurses, Brooke and Bev, from Heritage Valley Beaver for their wonderful care and how much they went above and beyond for Leslie.
