Alice M. Collins (Passed on August 8th, 2025)

Alice M. Collins, 83, of Chippewa, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2025.

She was born into the loving family of Jack and Rachel (Chambers) Rodgers. Alice was raised in Beaver Falls. Her life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her compassionate spirit. She was one of nine children and was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack, Robert, Donald, David and George Rodgers and her sisters, Betty Eudy and Delores (late Roy) Campbell. She is survived by her sister, Peg Gwaley (late Dan) and her sisters-in-law, Cathy, Naomi and June. She was also the beloved wife of the late James Collins, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage until his passing on August 15th, 2006. Alice’s love for her family knew no bounds. She was the proud mother of five children: LaRue (Guy) Frank, Valerie Collins, Brian (Marilyn) Collins, Steven (Kelly) Collins, and Mark (Anna) Collins. Her joy was multiplied with each addition to the family, including her nine grandchildren: Lindsay, Hillary, Robb, David, Brandon, Bryent, Tyler, Samantha, and Josh. The family circle grew wider with 19 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Alice dedicated 30 years of service as a nurse’s aide at the former Beaver County Geriatric Center, working in Annex 1. Her care for Alzheimer’s patients was not just a job but a calling, as she provided comfort and kindness to those in the twilight of their lives. Alice was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an accomplished cake decorator, known for her beautiful and intricate wedding cakes that graced countless celebrations. Her creativity in the kitchen was matched by her passion for literature, with James Patterson holding the title of her favorite author. She was an avid reader who found joy and solace in the pages of novels. Her impact extended beyond her immediate circle, as she supported causes dear to her heart, including the Epilepsy Foundation. Robert Lee Dunn (1936-2025)

Robert Lee Dunn, 89, passed away on August 7th, 2025. He was born in Beaver Falls on February 23rd, 1936, a son of the late Mildred (Miller) Dunn and Louis L. Dunn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry (Buddy) Dunn. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Gussenhofen/James) Dunn. One of Robert’s favorite claims to fame was having served in the same Army unit with Elvis Presley, cherishing 2 Polaroids of Elvis playing guitar on his cot. He was passionately proud of his hometown of Beaver Falls, where he served on city council, worked as an alderman and was a volunteer firefighter while his brother was chief. He was first employed as a produce manager at Loblaws supermarkets, then for many years at Beaver Falls Municipal Authority as a class A Type I plant operator, “making water.” He was an ardent sports fan, playing basketball and baseball as a youth, umpiring girls softball games and attending Steelers games since they were held at Forbes Field and occupying seats in the stands beside Franco Harris’ uncle. He was especially happy to be part of the Liberty Hills 55 plus community. He enjoyed reading and watching murder mysteries, feeding birds on the patio, monthly breakfast gatherings with old coworkers, twice -a-month wing night gatherings and exploring new restaurants, wineries and breweries. Most of all, he loved to travel the world with Nancy at his side. They flew past Mt. Everest, crawled through an Egyptian pyramid, cruised on the Nile and Amazon Rivers, sailed on Windjammers in St. Maarten, the Grenadines and Belize, walked the Inca Trail out of Macchu Pichu and flew over the Nazca Lines in Peru, experienced the Albuquerque Balloon Festival, explored the Grand Canyon, Finger Lakes and Thousand Islands, snorkeled in Florida and Hawaii. He saw Stonehenge, Neuschwanstein Castle, kissed the Blarney Stone and much, much more. He was an easy-going soul who loved life and was thankful for his many friends. A private celebration of his life will be held at his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the branch of Corless Funeral Homes.

Joseph A. Nyoh (1961-2025)

Joseph A. Nyoh, 64, of Monaca, passed away on August 6th, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born on January 23rd, 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Yoko) Nyoh and his wife, Cindy. He is survived by his two children, Joseph C. (Courtney) Nyoh and Leah Nyoh and his grandson, Easton Nyoh. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Handley and his brother, James Nyoh. His companion, Tina Smith, stood by him, bringing happiness and comfort to his later years.

Joseph was a 1979 graduate of Monaca High School where he played on the football team. He was a dedicated worker at St. Joe Lead since the early 90’s, later known as Horsehead. He was employed there until the plant’s closure. His commitment and work ethic were traits that he carried with him when he transitioned to Eaton Corp. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union #8183 who stood with his fellow workers advocating for their rights and well-being. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh sports fan, a passion that was ingrained in his identity. Whether it was cheering for the Steelers on a Sunday afternoon or rallying behind the Penguins during playoff season, his spirit and loyalty was unwavering. He was also a member of the Beaver Valley Sportsman’s Club for over 23 years and his presence there was more than a friend and member.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Presbyterian Hospital Comfort Team for their care and kindness that they provided in Joseph’s final days.

Lee Ann Shablesky (Passed on August 7th, 2025)

Lee Ann Shablesky, 64, of New Brighton, passed away on August 7th, 2025.

Lee Ann was employed as a quality analyst in the pharmaceutical industry.

Frances (Janectic) Hollinback (1934-2025)

Frances (Janectic) Hollinback, 91, of New Brighton passed peacefully with her family by her side on August 6th, 2025, at Providence Health adn Rehabilitation Center of Beaver Falls. She was born in Fallston, Pennsylvania on January 21st, 1934, a daughter of the late Nick and Mary (Stos) Janectic.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory C. Shingleton, two husbands, Gale Shingleton and Thomas Hollinback, her brothers, John, Joe, Michael, Nick, George, and Victor Janectic and her sisters, Mary Romanski, Barb Gossard and Katherine Janectic. She is survived by her son, Gary (Rhonda) Shingleton of New Brighton, her daughter, Victoria (Dave Burr) Shingleton of New Brighton, her granddaughter, Kylee (Chad) Byrd of Texas, , her great grandson, Gabriel Shingleton of Texas, her sister, Anne Ours of Beaver Falls, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Frances dedicated many years of service to Beaver County, working at Brady’s Run Ice Area until her retirement in June of 2010. She also drove school vans and buses for Ferguson Transportation, and spent time with Frye Bus Garage of Frye Transportation Group. In her free time, she loved visiting Mountaineer Casino, playing bingo and cards, especially the game 500, and taking part in the many activities offered at Providence. Her fun and loving spirit, friendly nature, and dedication to others left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

Friends will be welcomed on Friday, August 8th, from 3-7 P.M., at the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave, New Brighton, who was in charge of her arrangements and where prayers will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M., at Holy Family Church, 521 7th Avenue, New Brighton with Father Howard Campbell officiating.

Private interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 1501 1st Avenue, New Brighton.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Providence, who loved and cared for Frannie. They are too numerous to list but you all know who you are!

Regina Ruth Weiss (1935-2025)

Regina Ruth Weiss, 90, passed away on August 5th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Daniel J. Murdoch (Passed on August 6th, 2025)

Daniel J. Murdoch, 76, of Rochester passed away peacefully at his residence in Rochester on August 6th, 2025.

He was born in Monaca, a son of the late Archibald and Marcella (Booth) Murdoch, whose lineage intriguingly traced back to John Wilkes Booth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Archibald and Mark Murdoch. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 38 years, Rose Mary Bosco Murdoch, three daughters, Sandra (Scott) Nail, Danielle (Gary) Whoric and Laurel (Steve) Michele and two stepsons, Robert Allen Kruise and Keith Christopher Kruise. He was also the grandfather of fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan (Jack) Niedergal, Michael (Monica) Murdoch, and Kevin Murdoch.

Before his career, Daniel attended Monaca High School and demonstrating his commitment to service, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to civilian life, he embarked on a career as a MetLife representative, where he dedicated over 20 years of service.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. He was a devoted President of the Search 1 Rescue Team of Beaver County who made significant contributions to the safety and well-being of his community. He was also an outdoorsman at heart who loved to fish, camp and hunt in Cook’s Forest.

His service to others continued through his active membership in the Rochester VFW Post 128 and the American Legion Post 19 in New Brighton. Dan’s involvement in these organizations reflected his unwavering patriotism and his desire to connect with fellow veterans.

A Celebration of Life service will be held with military honors with date and time to be announced at a later date at the Rochester V F W Post 128, 179 Virginia Avenue, Rochester. Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.

The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired in Daniel’s memory to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.

Shirley Ellen (Snyder) Boles (1930-2025)

Shirley Ellen (Snyder) Boles, 94, formerly of Beaver, passed away on August 4th, 2025 at Heritage Valley Beaver.She was born in Monaca on October 24th, 1930, a daughter of the late Edison John and Dorothy Dale (Henry) Snyder.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Boles; her two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Mathesius; her son, Robert (Mary Lisa) Boles; her five grandchildren, Erik Mathesius, Katie Boles, Robby Boles, Sarah Boles, Emily Boles; and two great-grandchildren, Millie and Reid (RJ).

Shirley was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Boardman, Ohio. She was an active member of the Mahoning County Amateur Radio Association where she held an extra class license as a Ham Radio Operator. She was an avid golfer and loved to dance. She was also a part of the Stone Croft Christian Woman’s Club who met at The Fez monthly. She dedicated much of her life to helping others.

Services for Shirley were private. The GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, Inc., 340 Third Street Beaver, was honored to care for Shirley and her family during this most difficult time.

Charlotte F. Fausti (1932-2025)

Charlotte F. Fausti, 93, of Conway, passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2025. She was born on January 1st, 1932, a daughter of the late Maurice Brown and Charlotte Whinery and was lovingly raised by her late stepfather, Clarence Whinery. In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace C. Fausti, her brother, Maurice Brown Jr., her sister-in-law, Gerry Brown and his son-in-law, Dave Conroy. She is survived by her children, Christopher Fausti, Terry (Sheryl) Fausti and Jacqueline Conroy, her sister, Margaret Whinery, her grandchildren, David Conroy, Laura Fausti and Douglas (Stephanie) Fausti and her great-grandchildren, Bradley Conroy, Aubrey Fausti and Olivia Fausti.

Charlotte worked at Stangl’s Bakery in Ambridge before joining Bell Telephone as a phone operator. She was a devoted member of the former Our Lady of Peace Church in Beaver County. She was also active in the Christian Mothers group. She shared a close friendship with a group of seven dear friends, with whom she regularly played pinochle, bunco and bingo. Charlotte also enjoyed bowling and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

Carolyn Romano Hewko (1940-2025)

Carolyn Romano Hewko, 85, passed away unexpectedly on August 2nd, 2025 at her home. She was born in Beaver Falls on May 1st, 1940, the daughter of the late John R. and Elvira Sebastian Romano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John T. Romano, her sister-in-law, Laura Goerhing Romano, her dear son-in-law, Paul D. Susich, and her nephews, William J. Romano and John Romano, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn M. (Dave) Caffro, a son, Johnny Hewko, a granddaughter, Megan (Steven) Hewko-Ward, a grandson, William Hewko, three great-grandchildren and a loving niece, Crystal Romano Presto.

Carolyn graduated from Beaver Falls High School and Geneva College. She was a dedicated teacher at Beaver Area High School for over 35 years, who was beloved by students and faculty alike. Her loss will be deeply felt by those she touched during her long career.

Carolyn was an excellent cook. Her red clam sauce was beyond compare and always a favorite at the Christmas Eve dinner table. She enjoyed teaching, traveling, dancing, and watching both Jeopardy and CSI. She was also an 80s disco queen, a stunning beauty who was outspoken to a fault and was indeed a special lady. Her presence will be missed by many.

Friends will be received on Monday, August 11th from 3-7 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, who was in charge of her arrangements. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 12th at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Beaver, 200 Third Street, Beaver. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Beaver Falls Cemetery.
