Edna L. Sinovic, 87, of Rochester, passed away on April 18, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born on September 6, 1936, in Rochester, she is the daughter of the late Richard and Geraldine (Kidd) Horstman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Polce, granddaughter, Jenna Baker, and a grandson Paul Kincaid.

Edna is survived by two daughters, Pam Collins and Darla Sinovic; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Edna was retired from C.C.B.C. where she worked as a secretary for 40 years and was a cheerleading sponsor for the C.C.B.C. Titans basketball team.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of blessing service at 1 p.m. in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton.

Inurnment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Beaver Falls.

Margaret Sciarro, 96, of Beaver Falls passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Providence Care Center.

She was born on June 17, 1927 in New Brighton to the late Victor and Anna (Doyle) Petry.

Margaret was a homemaker all of her married life. Her passion for cooking was obvious, she loved spending time in the kitchen. She enjoyed listening to the radio (her favorite station was WBVP) and catching up on local sports talk and world news. While she was still at home, Marge also enjoyed sitting on her porch – taking in the fresh air.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Daniel who passed away on January 8, 2022, her siblings and son, Robert.

She is survived by a son Ronald (Barb) Sciarro of Beaver Falls, a granddaughter Jenelle (Brian) Carter of North Sewickley, three grandsons: Jason (Amy) Sciarro of Beaver Falls, Nick (Danielle) Sciarro of New Castle and Justin Sciarro of Cleveland, OH., five great grandchildren: Courtney and Nathan Sciarro, Santino and Nicco Sciarro and Chase Carter and a daughter-in-law Cheri Sciarro.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Providence and Grane Hospice for the kind and loving care that was provided to Marge. A special thank you to Alexis and Cassie from Grane Hospice for loving Marge like their own.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 11:00 am to the time of blessing service at 1:30 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.

Roberta Ann Shirey, 67, of Midland, formerly of Allison Park, passed away on April 17, 2024 at home with her devoted family by her side. She was born on March 1st, 1957 in Pittsburgh to the late Robert and Alice Fichter, who preceded her in death. Roberta is survived by her husband, Paul; son, David [Cristina] Bahm; daughters, Rachel [Mike] Thompson, Rebecca Shirey, and Rachel Shirey; her grandsons, Jacob and Micah Bahm; her sister Diane [Ken] Harrold; her niece Danetta and nephew Kenny Lee.

Roberta graduated from North Allegheny High School and earned her BS and MBA from Duquesne University. She became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked as an accountant for the Midland Borough, PA Cyber, RODIS, and lastly Buckeye Online School for Success (BOSS), where she worked from its inception to her retirement.

Roberta was a faithful parishioner at Saint Blaise Roman Catholic Parish where she served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a loyal member of the Midland Pool where she and her close friends were affectionately known as “the Pool Ladies”. She had deep friendships with “the Girls” – six wonderful classmates whose friendship stood the test of time. When the sun was out, Roberta was happy. She loved taking trips to any beach and would be the first one to arrive at the beach, and the last one to leave. Jamboree in the Hills was a special place for her and her dear Jambo buddies, who would enjoy four days of country music, dancing, and sunshine. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Roberta was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

Friends will be received in the Noll-Schwerha Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Blaise Roman Catholic Church, 772 Ohio Avenue, Midland, on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 10:30 a.m.

Private Interment will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank her oncologist Dr. Krivak and his dedicated team for all of their help and support over the last four years, as well as the loving AHN Hospice staff.

David Lester Hagen, 79, of Beaver, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 16, 2024.
David was born on April 22, 1944, in Beaver, to the late Ferdinand John and Mildred Lester Hagen. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla “Penny” Hagen (2018). David is survived by his sons and their wives, Stephen and Christi Hagen, of Sebring, Florida, Kevin and Nikki Hagen, of Valencia, Pennsylvania, and Eric and Joye Hagen of Beaver; sister, Sally (Gene) Telego, sister-in-law Esther (Don) Weidemann; nine grandchildren, Jennai (Brandon), Seth (Emily), Elianna, Sara, Samuel, Abby, Mark, Spencer (Kathryn), and Carter. David was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great granddaughter in a few months.
David faithfully attended First Presbyterian Church of Beaver, where he served as a Stephen Ministry Leader, greeter, driver for Faith in Action, and was also active in countless other ministries. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, kayaking, and being outdoors. David was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Antoinetta (Carfora) Crisci, 96, passed away peacefully with her beloved children by her side on April 17, 2024.

Born on September 18, 1927 in Santa Maria Vico, Italy, Antoinetta was a daughter to the late Giovanni and Carolina (DeLucia) Carfora. In addition to her parents, Antoinetta was preceded in death by her husband, Michele Crisci; daughter, Maria Antoinetta (Gerald) Guida; son, Marco Crisci; brothers, Biaggio Carfora and Domenico Carfora, of Italy, and Francesco Carfora, of Leetonia, Ohio; sisters, Caterina DeFrancesco and Giovannina Carfora, of Italy, and Vincenza Savinell and Filomina Dimarzio of Steubenville, Ohio.

She is survived by her children, Giovanna (Ferdinando) Gigliotti and Carlo (Tracie) Crisci; sister, Assunta (Vincenzo) Sposito, seven grandchildren, Sandra, Antonella, Sabatino, Maria, Antonella, Emily and Anna Marie, and seven great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and making memories with her children and grandchildren.

Mabel Loraine Podany, 94, of Sewickley, passed away peacefully on April 17th, 2024. She was born on July 10th, 1929 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Charles Halowell and Wilda (Kennedy) Halowell. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her sister Louise Vonstein and brother Charles Halowell.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Edward C. Podany, her son Keith Ramsey (Ursula), daughter Cathy Magestro, step-daughters Vicky Bardell (Steve), Lisa Royster (Berkley), step-son Edward Podany, sisters Mary Burdar and Nina Valise and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mabel was a senior accountant at Stone & Webster Engineering from 1973 to 1985. She was known for her impeccable skills and dedication to her career.

She was a proud member of the Woodlawn Chapter #164 Oder of the Eastern Star and worshipped at New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Aliquippa, where she found solace and community.

Mabel was a warm, wonderful wife, sister, mother and grandmother who enjoyed attending church, cooking, baking, gardening, flower arranging and both watching and feeding the birds in her yard.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 22^nd, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa, 2345 Mill Street, Aliquippa. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Members of Woodlawn Chapter OES will conduct a service at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mabel will be deeply missed by her loving husband Ed and all that knew and loved her.

Anthony David Ventresca, 65, of New Brighton, passed away on April 3, 2024.

Born on June 18, 1958, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Deno and Marianne (Patterson) Ventresca. In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ventresca, and his brothers, John Ventresca and Vincent Ventresca.

He is survived by his sons, Vincent Ventresca, Anthony Ventresca, Kristopher Ventresca, Bobby George, and David Ventresca; grandchildren, Reeve and Camilla Ventresca, Isabella Winslow and Amya Gibbs; and a brother, Danny Ventresca.

Anthony had been a Union Carpenter for the Local #432 and could build anything with just wood, a few nails, and a hammer. In his free time, Anthony enjoyed playing his guitar, and spending time with his loved ones. He would do anything for his children and will be dearly missed.

A public service will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 1-3 p.m. at 1133 Penn Ave., New Brighton. The GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., was honored to care for Anthony and his family.

Susan (Teasdale) Hinds, 71, of West Mayfield passed away on April 16, 2024, in her home.

Born on April 20, 1952 in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late J.C. “BO” and Kathleen (Anderson) Teasdale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband David Hinds and two brothers, John “J.T” and Richard Teasdale. She is survived by her son, Matthew Hinds of Fort Myers, Florida, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marian & Barry Sommer of Chippewa Township and Carol & Michael Emmick of Fort Myers, Florida, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Diane & George Souders; and Barbara George; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig & Gigi Hinds and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was a member of the Chippewa Alliance Church.  Susan loved visiting her son in Florida.  She enjoyed gardening, had a fondness for dogs and spending time with her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2-6 P.M. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, 3801-4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, where a funeral will be held Monday at 11 A.M. with her pastor Daniel Muir officiating.

Private interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery of Big Beaver Borough.
