Rose Marie Coulter (Passed on November 22nd, 2024)

Rose Marie Coulter, 87, passed away on November 22nd, 2024. She was born in Center Township, the daughter of the late Fred and June Rambo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Skip” Coulter. She is survived by her children, Debra Costello, Doug Coulter, and Holly Del Duca, sons-in-law, Mike Costello and Mike Del Duca, daughter in law, Michele Coulter, grandchildren, Stephanie Bohon, Tyler and Alec Coulter, and Madison and Michael Del Duca, sisters, Marylou Carpenter, Darlene Thomas, and Janet Zawislak, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Rose Marie lived her life in Center Township as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was defined by faith, family, and hard work. She was known as an excellent cook, a generous gift giver, and a dedicated provider to her family. She was funny, disciplined and always ready to share her wisdom with those that she loved. She later moved to Vanport Township where she lived the remaining years of her life. 

Rose Marie worked at Valvoline Oil, Hydril Company, Nova Chemical and Walmart. During her time at Walmart, she was known as a favorite checker by many. Through the years and even in her last days, she was recognized from the time she spent at Walmart. Her final retirement was from Walmart in October of 2016. 

The family extends a special thank you to the Critical Care Unit and the Med/Surgery Level 1 nurses, doctors, and staff at Heritage Valley Hospital Brighton Township. The care provided to her in her final days was carried out with loving kindness, respect and compassion. 

Friends and family will be received on Friday, November 29th from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Interment following at Beaver Cemetery- Buffalo Street, Beaver PA.

Joy Lynn Schweitzer (Passed on November 20th, 2024)

Joy Lynn Schweitzer, 43, of Center Township, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on November 20th, 2024. She was born in North Hills, the daughter of Margaret and the late David Schweitzer. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David and Barbara Schweitzer, sister and brother-in-law Shannon and Tim Sullivan, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Scott and Kristy Sullivan, nieces and nephews: Kaitlyn Sullivan, Bryce Sullivan, Sean Sullivan, David Schweitzer, JoAnn Schweitzer, Matt and August Schweitzer, Stephanie and Melissa Cogis: great nephews Gabe, Wyatt, Hunter, Logan and Kaden, as well as numerous aunts and cousins. 

Joy was a caring and loving person to all who knew and loved her. She was always willing to help anyone in need at any time. She loved her nieces and nephews as her own children and never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, school activities, graduations and weddings. She was always there for them to comfort, listen, and to guide them through life. She was always the fun aunt. She loved and cherished her many friends and loved hanging out with them and going on vacations with them. For the last 43 years, she has been a blessing to her family as a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt. She had the sweetest soul and was a great friend to so many, especially to her best friend Becky Chop and Julie Smega. Joy’s kindness, infectious laugh and big heart led her to be loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 11 a.m. at Monacrest Free Methodist Church, 995 Elmira Street, Monaca. 

Oswaldo “Ozzie” Scassa (Passed on November 19th, 2024)

Oswaldo “Ozzie” Scassa, 92, passed away on November 19th, 2024. 

He was born in Poggio d’ Roio, Provencia of L’Aquila, Italy to the late Domenic and Maria (Equizi) Scassa, In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Assunta Italia Scassa of Poggio d’ Roio, Provencia of L’Aquila, Italy, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Philomena Scassa of Monaca, and niece, Mary Bozic, also of Monaca. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane (Martin) Fischer of Peoria, Arizona and Dora Linda Calkins of Lewistown, Pennsylvania and loving nieces and nephews: Carol (Michael) Decanini, Domenic (Shelly) Scassa, Valarie (John) Ammerman, Debi (Bob) Bird, Blair (Kate) Ward, Richard (Carrie) Calkins III, John Domenic(Elise) Calkins, Christina (Mark) Mazur. 

Oswaldo moved to Monaca in 1936 and was a Monaca High School graduate. After being drafted by the US Army, Ozzie served during the Korean conflict as a Sergeant and served duty at Spandau Prison. As a metal worker and craftsman, he worked in Shippingport, at the Beaver Valley Nuclear Generating station. He was also employed by Local 712 of the I.B.E.W, and had many professions including iron worker, cement finisher, welder, and electrician. 

Oswaldo loved to travel and had varied interests including woodworking and car collecting. He was known as a sharp dresser who loved to fix things and was always willing to help a friend or family in need. An example of his metal work and willingness to help is demonstrated in the project he undertook for the commemoration of the first Mass said in the then new Beaver County in 1749. He also created a crucifix and altar candlesticks for the interfaith and the bicentennial mass said on June 13th, 1976, for a crowd estimated as high as 40,000 people. 

A special thank you goes to the kind and caring staff of Apple Blossom Senior Living and Gallagher Hospice. A special thank you also goes to Fr. Frank Kurimsky, Pastor of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Please include Fr. Frank in your prayers as well as his Church. 

In accordance with Oswaldo’s wishes, funeral arrangements will be private. Services were entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. 

Mary Ruth (Cooke) Metcalf (1937-2024)

Mary Ruth (Cooke) Metcalf, 87, of Bridgewater Borough, passed away on November 18th, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice House of Wexford. 

She was born in Rochester on March 24th, 1937, the daughter of the late Allison Mae Best. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Metcalf. She is survived by her children, Susan (Dennis) Bevington and Thomas (Cindy) Metcalf, grandchildren, Jacob (Crissy) Bevington, Samuel Bevington, Benjamin (Regina) Bevington, and Jeff Tracy; great-grandchildren: Sarah Bevington, Joshua Murphy, Chad Murphy, Lydia Casper, and Cassie Casper; her best friend, Jean Cornell and numerous other relatives and friends. 

Mary Ruth was a graduate of Rochester High School and had worked for Kaufmann’s Department Stores.  Most notably, Mary Ruth was a devoted mother and homemaker.  She was a past member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church and had also volunteered her time at the Bridgewater Elementary School. 

Services were entrusted to the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch) of Beaver. Arrangements have been entrusted to the branch of Gabauer Funeral Homes.

Private interment will be in Beaver Cemetery. 

Mary Ruth’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice House for their care and compassion shown during her stay. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Children’s Hospital, or the Salvation Army. 

 

Pamela P. Veon-Bonomo (1960-2024)

Pamela P. Veon-Bonomo, 64, of Monaca, passed away on November 20th, 2024.

She was born in Aliquippa on October 22, 1960, the daughter of the late Madeline Lastoria.

Pamela is survived by her children, Christopher (Carly) Veon and David (Katie) Veon, a granddaughter, Elaina Veon, siblings, Tim (Debbie) Bonomo, Mark (Sima) Fadool, and Linda (Steve) Kovach, nieces and nephews: Tim (Miranda) Bonomo, Kellie (David) Bonomo, Brian (Stephanie) Bonomo, Jenna Bonomo, Alex Kuntupis, and Taj Fadool; special niece Erika (Dominic) Granito and several great nieces and nephews.

Pamela worked in payroll at Geneva College for over 28 years, she was also a member of SOMA Church in Beaver Falls.

A special thank you goes to Pamela’s close friends, Gary (Terri) Gill, for supporting her and her family during this difficult time.

Friends will be received on Saturday, November 30th from 1 P.M. until the time of services at 4 P.M. in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

Private inurnment will be in Beaver Falls Cemetery.

William E. Early (1931-2024)

William E. Early, 92, formerly of New Brighton, passed away on November 18th, 2024 at Concordia of Bridgeville.

He was born in Beaver Falls on December 16th, 1931, to the late Eugene Earl and Alberta Rose (Depner) Early. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by wives, Shirley Ann (Lamey) Early and Mary Jane (Waxenfelter) Early, his son, Bill “Weasel” Early, his daughter, Kathleen DeBolt , his sisters, Martha McKenzie and Nancy Lindsay and a niece, Holly Lindsay.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Dan DeBolt) Early, grandchildren, Christopher Early, Jillian DeBolt (Nick Full), and Alexander DeBolt, stepchildren, David Warren, Diane (Kenny) Huston, step-Grandchildren: Grace Warren, Daniel Warren, Samuel Warren, Greg (Trisha) Huston, Ginny (Alan) Tung; and eleven step great grandchildren.

William was a member of Park Gate Baptist Church, as well as the New Brighton Volunteer Fire Department where he served for many years and held many positions including Assistant Fire Chief.

Friends will be received on Friday, November 22nd  from 3 P.M. until the time of services at 7 P.M. in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

The Beaver County Special Unit will also perform full military honors at the funeral home at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 22nd.

Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

James W. “Bill” Noah, Sr. (1937-2024)

James W. “Bill” Noah, Sr., 87, of Brighton Township, passed away on November 15th, 2024, at Heritage Valley Beaver.
He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on February 8th, 1937, a son of the late George and Beulah Wolfe Noah. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delores “DeeDee” Noah, brother George “Spud” Noah and sister Judy Dawson.

He is survived by his son, James W. “Bill” (Terri) Noah, Jr., daughter Paula (Alan) Wojdyla, grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail Noah and Paige Wojdyla, brother David (Patti) Noah sister-in-law Diana George, nieces, Susan and Jennifer George, as well as numerous other family members and friends.

James was a proud member of the U. S. Army, serving as a specialist E-4 paratrooper. He went on to retire from a career as a packaging engineer with Westinghouse, and was a faithful member of Beaver Falls Christian Assembly Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His passion was growing vegetables in his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. On Friday afternoons, you would find him savoring a glass of homemade wine with his dear friends, Willy, Rose, Michael and Trish.

Sara Lynn Long (1948-2024)

Sara Lynn Long, 76, of Rochester Township, passed away at her home on November 18th, 2024. She was born in Seybertown, Pennsylvania on September 2nd, 1948, the daughter of the late Stanley S. and Harriet Seybert Haugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lester Pyle. She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Albert L. Long Jr., a daughter, Kayla N. Long of East Rochester, one sister Pyle, a brother and sister-in-law Michael and Maryann Haugh, of East Brady, Pennsylvania, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ray Charles and Sherry Poppenger of Raccoon Township. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She was a retired employee through Heritage Valley Beaver and a member of New Life Community Church in New Sewickley Township, where she served the role of Financial Secretary. Sara was a member of the Rochester Post 128 V.F.W Auxiliary, the Little Foot Quilting Group, and loved scrapbooking. She worked for eleven years taking care of dogs, and especially loved working with her dog Mitch in training, who sadly passed away this weekend. She was also a member and volunteer with the Vicary House in Freedom. Friends will be received on Friday, November 22nd from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at William Murphy Funeral Home, 349 Adams Street, Rochester. A service will be held there as well on Saturday, November 23rd at 11 a.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Reverend Jack Brooks. Inurnment will be in the Cemetery of The Alleghenies. Angelina “Angie” Marie Jeffers (1953-2024)

Angelina Marie “Angie” Jeffers, 71, a longtime West Aliquippa resident and recent Monaca resident passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2024, at her home in Monaca. She was born in Rochester on January 8th, 1953, the daughter of the late William and Angela Marie (Deluigi) DiJovin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Jeffers, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann (Pat) Gajewski, and her brothers, William ‘Tubby’ DiJovin and Dominic (Pam) DiJovin, who were like sons to her. She also held a special place in her heart for her stepchildren, Rick (Tracey) Jeffers and Kathy (Angel) Reyes.

Angie’s role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She loved her grandchildren, Tiara (Nathan), Zaine, Courtney, Caitlin, and Cassidy. Her love extended to her several nieces and nephews.

Angie lived a life characterized by her love for her family, her passion for animals, and her unwavering support for the Aliquippa Quips and Steelers.

Throughout her life, Angie dedicated herself to the role of a homemaker. A lover of all animals, she found companionship and joy in the presence of her furry friends.

A true fan at heart, Angie’s enthusiasm for the Aliquippa Quips and the Steelers was infectious. She enjoyed the excitement of game days, cheering on her teams with fervor. Her leisure time often found her engrossed in puzzle books. Angie’s friendship with Mary Frances Lutz was a source of great joy and comfort to her.

Amy Lynn Halfhill (1978-2024)

Amy Lynn (Meme) Halfhill, 46, of Ohioville passed away on November 18th, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 17th, 1978, the daughter of Mary and the late Ken (Scooby) Halfhill. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father Kenneth (Scooby) Halfhill; grandparents Cas and Bebee Vassallo, and Ernest and Faye Halfhill; aunts and uncles Yvonne Brice, Rhonda LeFebvre, Annette Sladick, and LaDawn (Pete) Glasure; Jesse Bernardi and cousin, Tina Newtz. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her fiancé, Dave Grimm, step-daughter, Jaylin; “sisters”, Jenny LeFebvre and Amber Koehler, cousins: Michele, Mary Jo, Frankie, Louie (Ashley and Littlest Lou), Logan (Jenna), Michael, Benjamin (Brittney, Jace and Cade), Cheryl (Eric, Shelby, Morgan and Carly); Aunts/Uncles Jeanne (Doug) Bryson, Louie Brice, Franco LeFebvre, Bert Sladick, Patricia Bernardi and Joan Goyak, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many, special friends.

Amy touched so many lives with her warmth and kindness. She was so genuine and caring. Even at the end of her suffering, she put others first. It is so difficult to put into words the life of someone so special. Those who were lucky enough to know Amy know how selfless and compassionate she was. No matter who you were, Amy was always there to offer a helping hand. Amy loved to get muddy, being the copilot of David’s racing buggy and being at the beach. She was the ultimate party planner who loved shopping, going to parades, crafting, and riding around looking at Christmas lights. She treasured spending time with her family, especially her “adopted” kiddos, Dominic, Kennedie, Matthew, and Payton. She was an animal lover with the biggest heart. She will be deeply missed by everyone she touched with her amazing personality and beautiful smile that could light up a room. She left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories to comfort our broken hearts.
