Aliquippa School Board Furloughs Para-educators and Student and Teacher Aides

(Aliquippa, Pa.) Aliquippa School Board held its monthly work session and voted unanimously to furlough,  the para educators  alone with student and teacher’s aides  for the first nine weeks of school effective September 8, 2020.   Dr. Peter M. Carbone  said hopefully they will be able to return  after the first nine weeks of school. Due to the pandemic, classes are being taught virtually.

Beaver County judge James Ross and and  retired county commissioner Joe Spanik , who is a representative of the  AFL-CIO building trades union  spoke to the board about a program Building Hope  to get students interested  in apprenticeships in  trades  and how they can earn college credits to do so. Judge Ross said that   they are looking for minorities and women  who may be interested.
