Day 4 of Radio Dial Rewind on Teleforum with Frank Sparks featured 5 very popular personalities from their time at Beaver County Radio …..
The Day was kicked of with one of the most recognizable personalities of all time John Nuzzo. This was John’s first time on the airways since his abrupt departure in 2014. During the 1990s and 2000s, WBVP and John Nuzzo were synonymous identities to the ears of Beaver County Radio listeners. He was the host of A.M. Beaver County during the 1990s and early 2000s before starting his own mid-morning show, “The John Nuzzo Show”, which ran on WBVP and WMBA until 2014. When John’s voice was heard during Teleforum the phone lines lit up and were full during the entire interview. Caller after caller had nothing but well wishes for John and told them how much he is missed. John and Frank also reminisced about Nuzzo’s time at Beaver County Radio and the numerous remotes the two did together.
Next up was a voice familiar to all of Beaver County in Randy Cosgrove . Randy and Frank talked about Randy’s time at both WMBA and WBVP. Cosgrove who started out in the mid-1980s as an on-air personality and sales representative, a position he held for over a decade. After a stint as PA announcer at Heinz Field for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cosgrove returned in 2014 as a sales representative and original co-host of the “Saturday Sports Slam” with Frank Sparks. Frank and Randy reunited for one day and reminisced about all the good times and guests they had on the slam.
In hour two Frank talked with Vince Orend who left selling cars at Dick Snedden Pontiac to become a popular show host in the early 2000’s . Vince discussed all the good times he had during his show.
Frank was then joined by Jim Reed who worked for Hall Communications who owned WBVP up til 1985. Jim told the listeners about the many relationships he forged when he came to town to see how things were going. Jim also was a very important part of the move when WBVP moved from the basement of the old Parkvale bank to it’s current location on 7th Ave. in Beaver Falls.
In hour three Frank was joined by Pat Septak current Beaver County Radio News Director. Pat talked about his experiences working the news and how much it has changed over the last 15 years.
