George Alberti, 78, of Brighton Township, passed away on September 13th, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Rochester on August 26th, 1948, a son of the late John Joseph and Marie (Rosepiler) Alberti.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years and the mother of his children, Nancy (Holte) Alberti, his second wife, Linda Pitini Alberti, and his siblings: John Alberti, Charles Alberti, Bob Alberti, Richard Alberti, and Mary Ann Guy.
He is survived by his daughters, Katie (Scott Payne) Alberti, Jessica (Jeff Librich) Alberti and Angel Alberti, his grandchildren, including Audrey Librich and Evelin Payne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
George will be lovingly remembered for a life of hard work, service, and dedication to his community. He worked for 30 years as a Hostler Mechanic for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army where he received two Vietnam Service Medals and the National Defense Service Medal, along with various ombat and air medals. He was also a proud lifelong member of the Vanport Volunteer Fire Department. You could find him every Wednesday night down at the fire hall calling Bingo among friends. Above all, George who was known to some as “Pappy” cherished his family and will be dearly missed, especially by his granddaughter and beloved sidekick, Audrey. The two could be found regularly cracking jokes and getting Bruster’s Ice Cream. When he wasn’t with his family, he could be found with his railroad buddies or down at the fire hall. He had a love for fishing and would go on a trip with you anywhere, even if it was a road trip to Alaska as he did with his daughter’s family in 2019.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 19th from 1-4 P.M. in the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver, who was in charge of his arrangements. A fireman’s service will be officiated by the Vanport Township Fire Department at 2 P.M. in the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held after visitation at 5 P.M. in the Vanport Volunteer Fire Department Hall, 435 Jefferson Street, Beaver.
His family would like to send a sincere thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice House for the care they provided George during his final days. George also requested that no one ever list his middle name – a promise we plan to keep, but a story we continue to share.
