David Roy Winkler (1956-2026)

David Roy Winkler passed away on September 9th, 2026.

He was born in Pittsburgh in 1956, a son of Roy C. Winkler and Elsie L. Winkler.

He grew up in Monaca along with his seven siblings: Barbara Brabson, William Winkler, Amy Holava (Ted), John (Katie), Susan Vlasic (Bob), Robert, and James (Michelle), all of whom survive him. He was also Uncle David to 11 nieces and nephews.

David earned two Associate Degrees from CCBC and was employed as an Electric Technician in several places throughout Beaver County. However, the real David was seen through his many interests and talents, which were all self-taught. He was an accomplished woodworker and photographer. He learned to navigate the Ham Radio network and spoke often with others worldwide. He built several high-powered telescopes to enjoy astronomy. Most of all, he was an avid hiker and fisherman, especially at Lake Arthur and the Allegheny National Forest. He made his own lures out of a variety of materials for all different fishing challenges.

Private services will be held by David’s family at a future date. In memoriam, if you are so inclined, go outside, look up at the stars and be amazed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.
