Laura C. “Sissy” Doyle Chambers, 89, of Midland, passed away on April 19th, 2026.
She was born in West Bridgewater on September 17th, 1936, a daughter of the late Melvin J. and Catherine R. Weigle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael E. Doyle, her first husband, Charles “A and P” Doyle, her second husband, Robert S. Chambers, her brothers, Melvin J. Weigle, and John “Jack” Weigle, her sister, Elizabeth “Betts” Miller, as well as her two godsons, Rex. P. Doyle, and Mark E. Pike Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne E. “Vonnie” Doyle, her granddaughter, Leah E. Gahles, her step-son, Terry Chambers, her step-daughter, Mary Kay Quintana, her sisters-in-law, Mary B. “Honey” Doyle, and Sue Weigle, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Laura was a member of St Augustine Parish and St. Blaise Church in Midland, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers, as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 481, and served as a chairman for Ways and Means Chairman for 4 years. She had worked and retired from IGA Grocer, where she was known as “Chicken Lady,” after 20 years, then went to work for J.T. Anderson Funeral Home, for numerous years, as well as Sky Bank for 3 years, and the Tax Collector for Industry Boro and the Western Beaver School District for 10 years. She was also the former President of the former St. Christine Parish Council, as well as the Woman Guild, both for 5 years.
Friends will be received on Friday, April 24th, from 3-7 P.M. in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 629 Midland Avenue, Midland, who was in charge of her arrangements. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, April 25th, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Blaise Church, 772 Ohio Avenue, Midland. Online condolences may be shared at www.nollfuneral.com. Laura’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lakeview Personal Care Home, Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center, and the Heartland Hospice Nurses, specifically Alyssa, Theresa, Kayla, and Chaplain Fred for their love and compassionate care provided to Sissy during her stay with them.
