David Dennis “Denny” Cahill, Sr., 92, of Hopewell Township, passed away peacefully on February 22nd, 2026, at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden.
He was born in Ellwood City on May 7th, 1933, a son of the late Martin Edward and Mabel Margaret (Garwig) Cahill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley (Rader) Cahill, his siblings, Patrick Cahill, JoAnn (Patsy) DiCarlo, and Jane Cahill, a granddaughter, Meghan Alyssa Mercadante and a great-granddaughter, Aria Rodriguez. He is survived by his children, Sharlene (Gary) Mercadante and David (Sandy) Cahill, Jr., his grandchildren, Colleen (Blake) McElhaney, Michael (Lisa) Cahill, and Kristi (Cody) Rodriguez, his great-grandchildren: Fia Meghan McElhaney, Betty Cahill, and AJ Rodriguez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
David was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he obtained an associates degree from Penn State Beaver and went on to work as a salesman for Cutler Hammer, later retiring as a manager of the customer service center for Eaton Corporation in Moon Township. In retirement, he found great joy in volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Beaver County, delivering many meals to those who were in need. He was a past member and deacon of Mt. Carmel United Presbyterian Church in Hopewell as well as a founding member of the KRACSAM Card Club. He, along with his late wife, Shirley, were largely involved in family genealogy, making many trips to local courthouses, libraries, and other institutions to obtain their knowledge of the past. He doted on his grandchildren and enjoyed precious moments he spent with them, had a particular fondness for a good meal, and a good clean car.
In accordance with his wishes, David will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, March 9th from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at 11 A.M. at Chippewa United Methodist Church, 2545 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, who was in charge of his arrangements. A luncheon will follow the service in that church. Pastor Allan Brooks will officiate.
David’s family respectfully asks that memorial contributions be made to a local Beaver County Meals on Wheels.
