Two people were injured in an explosion this morning at a New Brighton steel plant. A supervisor at the Beaver County emergency dispatch center tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that the call came in shortly before 11:00 this morning in regards to an explosion at the Damascus Steel Casting Company, located along Pittsfield Alley in the borough. One of the victims was severely burned in the incident and was flown by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian. The other victim, who may be have been injured in a fall, was transported by ambulance to Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital. There is no word on the victims’ names or conditions at this time.
