Kurt A. Grunert, 91, of Beaver, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2024 in the comfort of his home.
He was born in Beaver on September 27th, 1933, the son of the late Albert and Irene (Schwartzenau) Grunert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Grunert and Irene Genevie. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith “Edie” (Stitt) Grunert, children, Carl Phillip (Sara Abigail Smoot) Grunert, Amy Louise (James M.) Shay, and Jordan Bryce (Lynsey) Grunert, grandchildren: Christian (Victoria) Shay, Brittany (Ryan) Brumbaugh, Claire Grunert, Gus Grunert, and Caylee Grunert; a great granddaughter, Chloe Shay and numerous extended family and friends.
Graduating from Carnegie Institute of Technology with degrees in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, Kurt had a long career with Westinghouse Corporation Electric Standard Control and the Low Voltage Breaker Division culminating with fifty-five patents and after retirement consulted for Eaton Corporation and Horton Corporation. He was a United States Army Engineer Officer in the Reserves from 1955 to 1963, exiting at the rank of Captain. He was a part-time instructor at Geneva College for fifty-six years in the Engineering Department. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Beaver and more recently attended the Assembly of God.
Friends will be received on Thursday, November 21st from 2 P.M. until time of services at 4 P.M. in the Gabauer-Todd Funeral Home and Cremation Services (Branch), 340 Third Street, Beaver.
Private interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.
