Beaver County’s own Jimmy Ross and the ‘JAGGERZ will receive the LEGACY LEGENDS AWARD at the 2017 Pittsburgh Rock ‘n Roll Legends induction for being a solo performer or band for 40+ years, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Their first hit recorded , a top five hit on KQV (That’s Why Baby I Love You in 1968. In 1970, “The Rapper” written by Donnie Iris was a national #1 single on Cash Box and #2 on Billboard The song,still popular in Beaver County, and a certified million-seller by RIAA, earned the group a gold record and it was featured on American Bandstand A new CD, “The Walk” was released in 2014. In the 60’s Jerry Reed built a small recording studio in his basement in Beaver, he recorded local groups, including the Jaggerz. He WILL BE AN INDUCTEE AS A PRODUCER, PROMOTER, OR MANAGER WITH 20+ years in. the music business. His award is the MUSIC INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL LEGENDS . Modern ERA Legends Inductees will be Tommy James and the Shondells. Broadcaster Legends inductee is Chuck Brinkman. He introduced the Beatles at the Civic Arena in 1964 He is from Dormont and was one of Pittsburgh’s most popular dj’s on radio from the 60’ to the 80’s He is still on the air as part owner of a rock oldies station KGVL-FM< Greenville, Texas.
