Police In Center Township are searching for a driver who struck a 16-year-old bicyclist and fled the scene Tuesday evening. Center Township Police Chief Barry Kramer tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Chapel Road. He says the boy was taken by relatives to Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital for an apparent elbow injury. Chief Kramer says the teen’s injuries are not life-threatening. He says the boy told them he believes a dark or black subaru struck him. Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call Center Police at (724) 774-0272.

Beaver County Emergency Services To be Impacted By County’s Buyout Offer
Beaver County Emergency Services Wes Hill tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that the loss of employees through the county’s buyout offer will impact the county’s emergency services department, but he says he doesn’t expect there to be any negative effect on services itself. Monday is the deadline for county employees to take a buyout under the plan to save the county cash. Hill says so far, there are 11 employees in his department who might take the buyout.
Murder Trial Begins Today In Ellwood City
The trial for a man accused of a November 2013 murder in Ellwood City is scheduled to begin today. Judge J. Craig Cox will preside over the trial of 28-year-old Leon Platt of Rochester. Platt is accused in the murder of 26-year-old Richard Rogue of Enon Valley. The Lawrence County District Attorney’s office has expressed intentions to seek the death penalty if Platt is found guilty.
Bernie Sanders Holds Presidential Rally In Pittsburgh
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders continued his attacks on rival Hillary Clinton’s relationship with Wall Street at a Pittsburgh rally this morning. About 8, 500 mostly young people crowded into the David L. Lawrence Convention Center today for Sander’s first appearance in Western Pennsylvania. Sanders slammed Clinton for giving speeches on Wall Street. Clinton leads Sanders comfortably in polls of likely Pennsylvania voters. The Pennsylvania primary election is April 26.
Penguins Host The Predators
The Penguins host the Nashville Predators tonight at the Console Energy Center. WBVP-WMBA air time is 6:30. There was an Evgeni Malkin on Wednesday. He skated on his own before practice. Coach Mike Sullivan says this does not change the prognosis of six to eight weeks on the shelf. The Penguins named Bryan Rust as the teams rookie of the year. He suffered an unspecified injury on Tuesday. He will miss tonights game. For the first time since the 1969-70 season, there will be no Canadian teams in the upcoming playoffs
Pirates 5th Starter
The Pirates starting rotation is set. Juan Nicasio, who came into spring training as a releiver., was named Wednesday as the teams fifth starter. His performance speaks for itself. In six appearances, he pitched 15-scoreless innings. The 29-year-old Nicasio made 69-starts for the Colorado Rockies between 2011-2014. Last season he was a releiever for the L A Dodgers. The sixth man in the fight Ryan Vogelson will pitch out of the bullpen. Pirates complete spring training against the Tampa Rays in Port Charlotte.
Pryor To Leave RMU
Scout .Com reports that first team All Northeast Conference for the Robert Morris Colonials Rodney Prior will graduate and transfer. The 6-foot 5-inch guard from Evanston Illinois averaged 18-points per game this last season. Pryor has one year of eligibility left. Under NCAA rules he can play Immediately what ever school he chooses.
Former Pitt Coach Gets A New Job
Former Pitt women’s coach Agnus Berenato has a new job. She has been hired as the new women’s coach at Kennesaw State in suburban Attanta. The 59-year-old Beranato was fired from PITT three years ago. She will take over a program that has had only one winning season since 2009.
Beaver County Now Visible On Social Media
It’s official: Beaver County now has a presence on social media…with county-supervised accounts both on Facebook and Twitter. Commissioners Chief of Staff Joe Weidner tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that he will personally moderate and maintain the accounts. Report: Rochester Man Accused Of Leaving Grandmother On Toilet For 17 Hours
A Rochester man is facing charges after allegedly leaving his grandmother on a toilet for about 17 hours. According to police, 30-year-old Joshua Ellison, is a designated caregiver and lives with his grandmother in Rochester. On January 4th, Ellison was scheduled to work for CARE@Beaver County Home Makers, but did not. When he came home in the afternoon, another employee was already at the house. The employee discovered the woman in the bathroom. Ellison said he tried to help her off of the toilet around 10 p.m. the previous night, but she refused. A police report was filed on March 14th and Ellison has been charged with neglect of a care-dependent person.
