Children’s Hospital Oncology Dept. needs OUR HELP!

The Clothes Closet is a closet located in the outpatient Oncology Department of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh that is stocked full of clothes for the children receiving  treatment that may need an extra change of clothes.

ITEMS NEEDED:New & Unwashed* shirts (long & short sleeve), shorts, sweat pants, hoodies, underwear, infant pajamas and onesies.

SIZES: Infant through adult large

*IMPORTANT: The clothes have to be NEW  &  UNWASHED due to the very low immune systems of these children.  Items that have been used or washed CANNOT be accepted.

NEW BRIGHTON HALLOWEEN 5K AND FUN WALK on 10/21/17

The New Brighton Area Recreation Commission announces the Halloween 5K and Fun Walk to be held Saturday, October 21, 2017.  Check in from 8:00 AM- 9:15 AM at the Grove Cemetery in New Brighton.  Race/Walk starts at 9:30 AM

Merrick Art Gallery presents Artist Alicia Stankay thru 10/29/17

As a writer and photographer, Alicia Stankay often immerses herself in nature.  She enjoys taking photos of flowers, butterflies and colorful mushrooms.   Alicia’s landscape scenes provide the settings for her stories.  Seeing the world through the prism of nature, she feels, broadens her perspective on life…giving it meaning and beauty.

Opening Reception is Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 1-4 PM and the show runs through Sunday, October 29, 2017.  Artist Stankay’s books and pictures will be available for purchase at the opening reception.

COFFEE WITH A COP

Beaver Police are looking to break down barriers between officers and citizens by initiating “Coffee with a Cop”.  Beaver area residents are invited to join police officers for coffee and discussion about the department’s relationship with the community.  Here’s your chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers.

Health Hike benefits McGuire Memorial and St. Anthony School

Council 604 of the Knights of Columbus in Beaver Falls have joined with the Wampum Chapter of the North Country Trail to raise funds for McGuire Memorial and St. Anthony School programs.  On Sunday, October 1st join the 10 mile (choose your length) pledge health hike.

This year a wheelchair accessible spur trail has been added and hikers with disabilities will be participating in this event.  Please consider supporting them as a hiker,promoter or pledge-maker.
