A benefit concert for Pastor Steven and Edwina Cummings who lost their home to a fire will be held on January 31 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Newell First Church of the Nazarene, 3rd  & Grant St., Newell WV 26050.

From Liberty to Captivity documentary showing 1-11-20

Winner Best Documentary at the Pittsburgh International Film Festival 2019. An Imagine event.

“From Liberty to Captivity” is a documentary exploring the tragic reality of sex trafficking in Pennsylvania through the stories of survivors as well as abolitionists fighting to end this crime against humanity.  Woven into the film is a message of justice and hope for the future.  Reflecting on the powerful effect of the abolitionists in the 19th century, the film documents one state’s fight for freedom from slavery…again.

The film, produced and directed by Debbie Wright, was awarded Best Documentary in four film festivals and has won  numerous other awards including best message, best editing, award of excellence, award of merit, spotlight documentary and cultural spirit.

Night at the Races 1/25/20

The Riverside Baseball Federation will be hosting “A Night at the Races” event on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the North Sewickley Township Fire Hall. Funds generated will help provide for the youth baseball program ages 4 through 16 of the Beaver County School District.  They are looking for sponsors and Chinese Auction donations.

Valentine’s Dance 2/14/20

 

A Valentine’s Day dance is being sponsored by the DiMantae Bronaugh Youth Center committee on Friday, February 14th.  The event for 5th & 6th graders will be held at the Center VFW from 4:30 to 10:00 PM.  No jeans or tennis shoes.  Entertainment will be provided by the DJ JAW.  A caricature artist will also be on hand.

Tickets are $20 each or $25 per couple.  They can be purchased contacting Anita Gordon at 724-252-5800

BVCS ANNOUNCES 2020 REHEARSALS

The Beaver Valley Choral Society begins rehearsing its 2020 spring concert, “Depth of Mercy,” starting Monday, January 6 at 7pm, at New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton. The concert schedule will be announced soon. 

The January 6 and 13 rehearsals are open to the general public, especially for prospective members. The Choral Society has an additional 30 choir vacancies to fill for its centennial anniversary. Auditions are not a requirement, provided the individual can sing tunefully. 

Musicians are also needed in the orchestra. Auditions are not a requirement, but the individual should be able to read music and perform proficiently. 

Children who sing in the BVCS Treble Youth Chorale will begin rehearsing sometime in February.

Bring in the New Year with One Accord Ministry

The 6th annual New Year’s Eve Eventraganza brings in the New Year with the theme “Being Rooted and Grounded”.  There will be several speakers and talents on this night .  The service starts at 6:00 PM and will end by 9:00.  If you want to continue to celebrate, there will be food, refreshments and games afterwards.
