AUDIO: The 25th Annual Rusyn Food Festival Is This Weekend

Any silver anniversary is impressive, and that is no less the case for the Rusyn Food Festival that takes place on August 2 & 3 at St. John The Baptist Orthodox Church in Ambridge.

John Righetti, who has been on the Food Festival Committee since Day 1 in 1994, joined Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County on August 1 to discuss the 25th annual event. John talked extensively about the difference between Eastern European cuisine and Western cuisine, as well as the tradition of eating soup for lunch all year round. Righetti also went into detail about the baked goods that can be eaten on-site or available for take-out.

AUDIO: DCI Will Be Holding A Regional Tournament In Pittsburgh This Sunday

Drum Corps International is a league of dozens of bands that perform in the marching arts, featuring musicians/athletes from the ages of 14-21. The bands perform and compete in shows all across the country, and they will be making a stop at the Elizabeth Forward High School this Sunday, August 4.

Barbara Nash of DCI spoke to Matt Drzik on AM Beaver County about the basics of the organization, the daily routines of each of these groups, the connections made with high schools across the nation, and the mutual respect of these groups that compete with one another.

Winner Winner, Towne Square For Dinner: The Return Of The Pirates Treasure Chest

Lunch was so good, they decided to return for dinner!

About a month and a half later, anyway.

The “they” of course is Beaver County Radio, who returned to Towne Square Restaurant on Third Street in Beaver with the Personality Prize Wheel and the Pirates Treasure Chest from 4-6pm on July 30. The friendly staff and customers each had their shot at some great prizes, and Matt Drzik joined Ed Hermick in making the broadcast a special time for all who participated.

Brian Hager Talks About North Country Trail On “People Purpose Planet”

With the temperatures at their highest and summer in full stretch, it was fitting enough that Dr. Pete Birchler of the Chiropractic Health Center in Chippewa brought on a member of the North Country Trail to talk about the possibilities of enjoying and preserving nature in Beaver County.

Brian Hager, who is the Vice President of the Wampum Chapter of the Trail, joined Dr. Birchler and Matt Drzik for another edition of “People Purpose Planet”, where non-profit organizations in Beaver County are spotlighted for their services to the community. Hager spoke about the influences that brought him to help out with the North Country trail, the health benefits of getting out into the woods, and the several different ways that the group is trying to improve the Trail.

McGuire Memorial & Knights of Columbus To Hold 15th Annual Golf Outing On July 13

With the grass as green as it can be and the temperatures rising, two local groups are hoping that you’ll take a Saturday to hit the links. The Knights of Columbus from Beaver Valley Council 604 & McGuire Memorial are hosting their 15th Annual Golf Scramble on Saturday, July 13 at Blackhawk Golf Course.

Dennis Garrett of Council 604 and Allison Dixon of McGuire Memorial (shown with fellow Knight Pete Schmitt) joined Matt Drzik on the June 24 edition of A.M. Beaver County to talk about the upcoming event. The two spoke of what it means to have these two organizations working together again, the bevy of activities taking place on July 13, the deadlines for registration and sponsorship, and future events being held by either organization.

The 2019 Beaver County Boom Is Tomorrow!

The first full day of summer will be celebrated in style in Beaver County, as the 9th Annual Beaver County BOOM! presented by Beaver County Tourism lights up the Beaver and Ohio rivers.

The group of Mark & Nate Kopsack from PUSH Beaver County, County Commissioners Tony Amadio & Sandie Egley, and Dr. George Zambelli of Zambelli Fireworks talked with Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County about the annual event, including the HQ Party at Thursday’s, the events happening at Bridgewater Park, and the way that the towns surrounding the show are celebrating this year’s Boom, which will be broadcast live from Bridgewater on Beaver County Radio beginning at 6:00pm.

Raylene Boots Talks Ellwood Arts Festival On A.M. Beaver County

You know an event has a long and strong tradition when it has its own Hall Of Fame. Such is the case with the Ellwood City Arts Festival.

Now in its 39th year, the annual Festival brings the best arts, crafts, food, and entertainment to Ewing Park for three days to celebrate the city and country (since it’s near the 4th of July weekend). Festival Chairperson Raylene Boots joined Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County to discuss the festival running from June 28 to June 30. Boots talked about the 2nd Edition to the Hall of Fame and its inductees, the return of the Little Miss Firecracker pageant, the headlining bands, the Juried Art Show, and the food…just to scratch the surface.

Pirates Treasure Chest Makes Its Way To Towne Square Restaurant

It was a gorgeous day outside, but the action was happening inside at Towne Square Restaurant in Beaver! Beaver County Radio came out to 3rd Street in Beaver with the Prize Van, the Personality Prize Wheel, and the Pirates Treasure Chest!

Ed Hermick and Matt Drzik were there during the afternoon, greeting several customers, manning the Prize wheel, and making sure that the Chest was soundly guarded. Several winners were made at the appearance, and everyone who ate at Towne Square (including Ed & Matt) were left satisfied!

VIDEO: The 2019 Beaver County Boom Is Coming Up On June 22!

Get your dancin’ shoes ready.

The 2019 Beaver County Boom presented by Beaver County Tourism is coming up on June 22, as the Zambelli Fireworks will be blowing up over the Ohio River for all of Beaver County to see. The fireworks show will be set to music that is in conjunction with this year’s theme: “Dancing Through The Decades”.

Mark & Nate Kopsack of PUSH Beaver County spearhead the event every year, and they joined Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County to discuss the 2019 Boom. They were joined by County Comissioner Sandie Egley and Dr. George Zambelli (on the phone line). Along with talking about the event itself, the crew talked about how the surrounding areas (Bridgewater, Monaca, Rochester) are holding day-long festivities to commemorate the Beaver County Boom.
