Senator Elder Vogel Discusses The Turnpike Situation With Matt Drzik On A.M. Beaver County

Back on September 14, it was reported that the PA Turnpike Commission had lost $104 million in revenue over the course of the last year, as 11 million rides through the toll areas generated no net revenue from its users. This drew the ire of the Senate Transportation Committee, who held hearings with the PTC over what the issues were that led to such a loss.

Senator Elder Vogel (R-47th) is one of two Senators representing Beaver County to serve on the STC, and he joined Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County to discuss his take on the Turnpike situation. Vogel spoke about the disappointment that he had with the PTC over the system that has been created, and he suggested a possible aid to help in generating revenue by adding a front license plate to vehicles in Pennsylvania.

LISTEN: Acts Cancer Care Program Starts Monday Evening At Newell First Church Of The Nazarene

Sometimes it’s not about getting rid of pain and suffering, but obtaining a stronger power to override it and push forward.

The Acts Cancer Care program is a faith-based gathering program that sets to do just that, using the power of prayer, devotion, and networking to help those dealing with cancer and the struggles that come along with it. The inaugural meeting takes place on Monday, September 13 at the Newel First Church Of The Nazarene located in Newell, West Virginia.

Though the gathering is in Newell; the ACC is actually organized by the First Baptist Church of Rochester, of which Dr. Phil Huggins is the pastor. VIDEO: “Let’s Roll” Will Honor Military & Victims Of 9/11 Attacks In Beaver

Twenty years after the events that took place on 9/11/2001, the reverence, remembrance, and inspiration to sacrifice still pierces the core of America. On Saturday in Beaver, those who made and continue to make the sacrifices will be honored for their duty.

“Let’s Roll” is an event that will take place at the Beaver Gazebo on September 11, where several singers and speakers will lead a ceremony honoring those who have fought and/or died for America–whether they be in the military or a common citizen. The event will be free, with donations accepted to fund the “Beirut And Beyond” war memorial in Beaver, and it will begin just a few minutes shy of 3 PM.

Event organizer Bob Gwin, along with Charles Jones and Diane Brosius, joined Matt Drzik to talk about the upcoming event on A.M. Beaver County. Charles and Diane will assist in emceeing the event, with Diane singing the National Anthem along with “Battle Hymn Of The Republic”. The three emphasized the importance of recognizing not just those in uniform who have served, but the number of first responders who have donated their services and time over the last 20 years. VIDEO: Tiger Pause Hosting “Rumble In The Jungle” On September 11

Before the muscle cars roll out onto 7th Avenue on Saturday afternoon for the Beaver Falls Car Cruise, there will be an event taking place on 8th Avenue which, appropriately enough, will also feature plenty of muscle.

Tiger Pause Youth Ministry will be hosting “Rumble In The Jungle” on September 11, located by the Splash Pad on the corner of 8th Avenue and 22nd Street in Beaver Falls. The main event will be an obstacle course featuring over a dozen obstacles, and top prizes will be awarded to the top male and female performers in Adult, 12-18, and under 12 categories. Registration for the event is at 9:30 AM, with the Prayer Safari walk beginning at 10 AM and the obstacle course beginning at 11 AM. Tiger Pause kids can register for $1, all other individuals $10.

Matt Nance, the executive director of Tiger Pause, joined another Matt (Drzik) on AM Beaver County to preview the “Rumble In The Jungle”, emphasizing the parallels between the physical challenge of the obstacle course to the spiritual challenge carried out by Jesus’ disciples. Tiger Pause is a faith-based organization that acts through its missions, and Nance spoke about the spread of those missions with his staff over the course of the last couple of years. He also spoke about the connection through faith with nearby Geneva College, whom he hopes is well represented on Saturday as well.

VIDEO: Eric Fontana Talks About The “Restaurant Gems Of Pittsburgh” Website

The greater Pittsburgh area is full of good food, but it’s not just about the taste on the plate…but also the taste of the atmosphere.

Eric Fontana, who released a book about the best restaurants in the GPA a year ago, recently launched a new website about his restaurant travels and insights: restaurantgemsofpittsburgh.com. He covers restaurants that are locally owned, and he talks about the atmosphere and affordability of the restaurant along with the quality and size of the food itself.

Fontana sat down with Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County to talk about the new website, and the symbiotic relationship that he has with these restaurants as a reviewer. He also talked about the need to be unique in his presentation in the same way the establishments he reviews; in both cases, anything that seems ordinary will be deemed as such and lost to the public eye.

Eric is the son of former WMBA disc jockey and play-by-play announcer Bill Fontana.

VIDEO: Gold Star Game On WMBA Will Honor Fallen Military Members

“It is said that a person dies twice; once when they take their final breath. and later when their name is spoken for the last time.”

The Gold Star Game on Friday night between New Brighton and host Rochester will be the first of four throughout the WPIAL in 2021. The event is organized by the Gold Star Families to honor the fallen members of the United States Military dating back to World War II. Twenty players will be wearing the names of the fallen on the backs of their jerseys in lieu of their own.

Dana Tabay joined Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County to talk about the Gold Star Game, and the mission of Gold Star Families to “never forget” the names of those who’ve been lost to battle. Tabay spoke about the events that will occur during the pregame ceremony, and the depth of context that it will provide to not just the young players who may not be used to the grief and weight of losing service members, but to all in attendance who will be reminded why “freedom isn’t free.”

Tabay will join Jason Colangelo and Mike Azadian during halftime of the Gold Star Game, as the game will be broadcast on WMBA beginning with the pregame ceremony at 6:30 and kickoff at 7:00. The ceremony and game will also be livestreamed on the Trib Live High School Sports Network.
