Aliquippa City Council Swears In New K-9 Officer To Replace Rocco

Aliquippa City Council met last night and swore in the new K-9 officer Cato, and presented his handler with his badge. According to Beaver County Radio News correspondent Sandy Giordano, Officer Jimmy Brown is Cato’s handler, and replaces Rocco who retired.

The 30-0 Quip basketball team and coach Nick Lackovich and another member of the coaching staff were recognized by council. Mayor Dwan Walker told the team and coaches how much they are appreciated by the city. Mayor Walker gave them copies of the flags commemorating the PIAA state championship. The flags will be presented on May 15 at the team’s banquet at Shadow lakes Country Club. Cost is $30 per person.

Council accepted Charles J. Betters resignation from the water authority board. Anyone interested in serving on the board should submit a letter of interest by next month’s meeting.
